It's a desert cottontail. Those big wide ears help with heat dispersal. My favorite is the desert hare. They're way bigger than regular bunnies, weighing up to 10 lbs and length up to 2 feet.
Like other jackrabbits (Black-tailed is the common one), they are hares, not rabbits (the two groups of 'rabbits'). Gadzooks they are big! And beautiful with that mostly white side.
I have several branch/stick piles around the yard, the birds are nuts about them, great to see you using them too!

In the upper right of the 50-60' Cypress Tree is a Red-tailed Hawk nest.
Here are a couple of the nestlings mostly grown but still downy on head.
This was the one I named Bernie.
This was the last juvenile begging at the nest, just after taking flight.

That ginormous rabbit in southern AZ is the Antelope Jackrabbit.
