Accept NO Imitations!
I've been hearing odd tales of the various Dem organizations (the DNC, DLCC, etc) basically ripping off the Bernie fund-raising formats to apparently try and catch a few less observant supporters off guard. I didn't think much of it, until I received the following in my mailbox today:
Of course, if you're an OCD computer geek like myself you notice all the differences; The color palette is similar, but off. The font formatting is also different.
And of course, there's that fine print:
Now I know my name is likely floating around on several mailing lists as an easy touch campaign contributor, so I'm not shocked the DLCC got the address in the first place. I do object to how deliberately vague they are about who gets your money. For example, they specifically mention Florida as a contested state, which is true. They conveniently avoid mentioning that one of the people most likely to get your money, if any, is none other than Debbie "Downer" Wassermann-Schultz, and NOT her primary challenger, Tim Canova.
The lesson here kids is that donating your money to a superpac, regardless of your leanings, is useless. It's like the united way; it sure SOUNDS like a dandy idea, until you realize how much of your money goes to cushy executive salaries and the like. This is no different.
Donate DIRECTLY to a campaign, not a organization. It's the only way they'll learn just how serious we are about getting ALL so called super pacs and dark money out of our elections.
As for Bernie fund raisers, Always check for the Bernie 2016 logo at the top, and the "Paid for by Bernie 2016 (not the billionaires)" tagline at the bottom.

Same thing with Charities, I find.
They go out of their way to say you should NOT give your money to homeless folks, but then turn around and blow the vast majority of their budgets on advertising and salaries for their people.
In the old days we used to call those kinds of people:
Fucking Con Men
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Yup
The idea is that it's better you pay people to give people money than do it yourself, because you are of course too naive and generally ignorant to determine how to help people.
I never give money to big NGO's anymore. Give it direct or stick to the small, shoestring charities that are actually run by a lot of volunteer labor.
People who say don't give money to homeless people really piss me off. People who inherit money can spend it any damned way they please, but those poor people, they need monitoring. Disgusting.
Stay on track. Stay in lane. Don't throw rocks.
I'm always the last to know.
Cuz I still call them Fucking Con Men.

Cutting Out the Middlemen
The more hands a dollar has to pass through, the smaller it shrinks. Mind, I don't have an issue with that when it goes the other way; If I need to obtain something, and the only way TO get it is thanks to the people who did the dirty work (think American Pickers), then I consider that worth my money.
But with a charity or cause the only excuse for so many hands taking their portion of that dollar is greed. So yeah, "Fuckin' Con Men" (hey, I'm from NYC, so dropping the g is necessary!) indeed!
Just another refugee from the Daily Chaos.
Thanks Yohanon
Thanks for this heads up. I'm going to devote some time to see how I can help replace Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Go straight to the source to donate.

I think you'll find that they are very, very slow in taking you off their lists. I've been politely and then not so politely asking them to take me off of the lists. Eventually, weeks later, maybe they will.

I finally just started blocking them all.
Much easier that way.
This shit is bananas.

They take you off just for a few weeks
And then you're back on again, getting emails three times a day for someone you've never heard of, who's running for dog catcher in a village on the other side of the country, with Nancy Pelosi saying. "I keep emailing you..."
Yes, Nancy, you do. And you're never going to get a cent from me. I think they get our email addresses over and over again from ActBlue. Amazing, the number of strangers who think they can get money from us.
