Zoom

I think it is time for a Zoom conference/c99 meetup.
Anyone else interested?
UPDTATE: I participated in my first zoom court. There were 10 people involved.
After being placed on hold for 15 minutes, I and my client appeared before the bench. Very awkward. I couldn't hear what the prosecutor was saying, couldn't tell my client to hush, and
before I could get permission to leave, some defendant started discussing his case, and I had to let him fishish before I hung up.
It was awful.
Must re-think this!

I would certainly be interested in participating. Always wished for a Drinking Liberally style meet up with C99% comrades.

Ideas how this meeting would take place given the various time zones, who would host etc.?

Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.

This ain't no dress rehearsal!

I might participate. I’ve used Zoom for work meetings and to ‘hang out’ with friends a few times, and found it surprisingly easy to use, and “meetings” (virtual happy hours) with friends have been fun. I will have to give it some thought. It also would depend on when the event takes place, as I still am working (from home) during business hours.

The idea brought up some questions for me about privacy options. It turns out the meeting host has more control than you might think. I found this page, which is intended for people running AA and other 12-step Zoom meetings, which demand anonymous participation (other than a first name). So this article covers how meetings can be set up to change the Zoom defaults to protect the privacy of participants. If you decide to do this virtual meet-up, you might find this helpful.

MEETING HOSTS: PROTECTING ANONYMITY & DEFAULT SETTINGS IN ZOOM

Users can change the name that displays for them before joining the meeting, so people can change it to their C99 user name.

Keep us posted on this idea. It is tempting!

If you added my organizational skills and computer skills, they would not fill up a thimble.
I have not been in a zoom room with multiple people. Just one client. I didn't have to download Zoom. I joined the room via his invitation. We could see each other, and I could hear him. I had to call a number on my cell phone, use it to be heard. I have no idea if my number was disclosed to him.
I only give out my cell phone number to a select few, and try to reserve it for friends, or emergencies.
Business, seemingly out of nowhere, picked up immensely today. It was crazy in a wonderful way. If this is a trend, it will dominate my time and energy.
Nevertheless, it does seem like a fun way to chat a couple of hours.

However, Zoom did fuck up my computer temporarily on one occasion.

We need to get together.

but my expertise with Skype et. al. is not worth mentioning. But if invitations could be sent from a coordinator making joining the conversation easy, please count me in.

Easy as zoom without the corporate BS.

My 2 cents.
