Fun with AOC, Sanders, & #Drop Out Biden

In my
April 20 diary concerning AOC endorsing and serving Biden on April 19, including being willing to attending rallies with him.  I’d added in comments:

AOC says she is ‘having conversations with Biden’s team’ over policyApril 16, 2020, nypost.com
“Speaking to Politico, AOC offered some praise of Biden, specifically that she was heartened by his pledge to name a female running mate and his interest in that person being of color.

The Democratic socialist went on to advise the presumptive nominee on what type of woman he should choose.”

Meanwhile Kamala (the Lotus Flower) Harris was raising money for him (hint, hint).

Further down in comments I’d added:  ‘I’d Take Her In A Heartbeat’: Joe Biden Says He Would Pick Michelle Obama To Be His Vice President‘, April 20, 2020, pittsburgcbslocal.com

“I don’t think she has any desire to live near the White House again,” Biden added.” […]

Biden told KDKA he would not commit to a woman of color on his ticket.

“I’ll commit to that be a woman because it is very important that my administration look like the public, look like the nation. And there will be, committed that there will be a woman of color on the Supreme Court, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a vice president, as well,” Biden said. [<how’s that for word salad?]

“I think it’s really important now that we establish once and for all, we should have had a woman president already, in Hilary (Clinton), in my view,” Biden added. “There are a number of qualified women out there.”

#Ruh-roh.

Okay; on with the Bread and Circuses!

Listen: New Audio ‘Evidence’ Emerges Against Biden in Sexual Assault Allegation’, April 25, sputniknews.com

“A new report from The Intercept’s Ryan Grim on Friday offered credibility to Tara Reade’s story on then-Senator Biden’s alleged 1993 sexual assault, as well as her claim to have confided in multiple people about it at the time, which she detailed in a previous interview with the outlet.

Grim noted that in one interview, Reade said that three people – her mother, brother and friend – previously knew of the allegations. While the brother and friend confirmed their knowledge of the alleged assault, her mother passed away in 2016.

However, Reade mentioned in her first interview with podcast host Katie Halper, as well as to The Intercept, that her mother had called into “Larry King Live” and talked about her and the experience. With the assistance of a podcast listener, The Intercept was able to find the episode in question, which was King’s program on August 11, 1993, entitled “Washington: The Cruelest City on Earth?” […]

BREAKING: Is this the mother of Joe Biden’s accuser talking to CNN in 1993? pic.twitter.com/rF7jw35s2F

— MediaResearchCenter (@theMRC) April 24, 2020

I wonder what a staffer would do besides go to the press and in Washington. My daughter has just left there after working for a prominent senator and could not get through with her problems at all, and the only thing she could’ve done was go to the press, and she chose not to do it out of respect for him,” the California caller detailed.

Reade took to Twitter Friday evening to confirm it was indeed her mother speaking in the video, originally posted by journalist Rich McHugh.

This is my mom. I miss her so much and her brave support of me. https://t.co/okU80kqWAI

— taratweets (Alexandra Tara Reade) (@ReadeAlexandra) April 24, 2020

Reade formally filed a criminal complaint earlier this month regarding the 1993 assault and has communicated that she is willing to testify under oath and cooperate with law enforcement if deemed necessary. At the time of the incident, Biden represented the state of Delaware in the US Senate, having started in 1973. He left office in 2009, when he was elected to the vice presidency.”

Then Biden’s non-denial denial; but this is fabulous from his Communications Director:

“He firmly believes that women have a right to be heard — and heard respectfully. Such claims should also be diligently reviewed by an independent press. What is clear about this claim: it is untrue. This absolutely did not happen,” Bedingfield’s statement on behalf of Biden read, as reported by NPR.

Also at sputniknews.com April 26: ‘Woman Accusing Biden ‘Lost Respect’ for CNN Anchor who Failed to Ask Ex-VP About Sexual Allegation’

Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer who has accused former US Vice President Joe Biden of a sexual assault dating back to 1993 has vented her disappointment over CNN anchor Anderson Cooper failing to ask the 2020 presidential election candidate about the allegation on two occasions, reported Fox News.” […]

“Since that time, Joe Biden has given around a dozen TV interviews with a plethora of news anchors, including NBC News’ Chuck Todd, ABC News‘ George Stephanopoulos, and on two occasions with Anderson Cooper. Not one, laments Reade, questioned the 2020 Democratic presumptive nominee about her public claim.” […]

“Tara Reade’s story first resurfaced on 25 March in an interview with podcast host Katie Halper.

Reade claimed Biden assaulted her in a Senate corridor, putting his hand under her skirt and penetrated her with his fingers.”

And FWIW: ‘Active investigation: DC police probe sexual assault allegation against Joe Biden’, April 21, 2020, washingtonexaminer.com

“The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia is actively investigating the complaint against Joe Biden brought by Tara Reade, the woman who accused Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993, despite her allegation being impossible to prosecute since it is past the statute of limitations.

“This is an active, ongoing investigation, and there are no further details to provide at this time,” a Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson told the Washington Examiner Tuesday regarding Reade’s case. “Cases that are handled by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit go through a multi-review prior to being assigned a disposition. This case is progressing through the review process.”

The investigation remaining open, despite the alleged incident occurring past the statute of limitations, struck multiple experts as highly unusual.”

Please, someone inform us poor creatures of the names and / or locations of such independent mainstream press. Free vacation for 10 days at our southern Florida resort. Excellent water views, of course.

Personally, it would be encouraging to see if JoJo could simply repeat what his flunky wrote for him. Being generous, I would allow JoJo two independent, unconnected phrases and one word substitution were he attempt to do so--no video editing allowed.

Anybody want to take a bet on that?

@wendy davis many black leaders and activists at the time (tho not Jesse Jackson) supported that bill. Reason: there was a serious crime problem in many inner cities. Even the CBC, with reservations, eventually backed it.

Bernie Sanders is the Amendment King. As I've said somewhere previously, if Congress were to pass a bill requiring every American to eat a sh*t sandwich, Sanders would attach an amendment requiring the sandwiches to be inspected for COVID-19. That's who he is; the Amendment King. At one point in his career Sanders piped up with the idea that there had to be a political revolution if anything was to happen with his proposals to revive the New Deal. He didn't develop that idea. The political revolution idea probably came from some marginal aspect of his character.

I don't fault Sanders for not developing the political revolution; Marx's idea of the world after capitalism, after all, remained undeveloped even though he and Engels collaborated upon enormous quantities of written work. (If you want to see what could be cobbled out of that whole thing I would recommend reading Peter Hudis' "Marx's Concept of the Alternative to Capitalism.") At any rate, it appears in retrospect that the political revolution wasn't really Sanders' main interest and that he pursued two campaigns for President for the sake of reinforcing his status as the Amendment King.

Sanders is now fully in dues-paying mode. Maybe he feels he has to do this if he is to keep his Senate privileges. I don't know. He is, as he himself said about Briahna Joy Gray, "not on the payroll" anymore.

the amendment king'. it's clear by now that he wasn't even into a 'political revolution', whatever that means. tweaking capitalism, fight for fifteen, medicare4all (did he mean free with additional b, c, and d plans?), maybe...not so much regime change. but he was an Imperialist, nonetheless.

thanks for the book rec; maybe others will buy it, read it (i can't read dead tree any longer). but anti-capitalism, socialism comes in many different flavors,, doesn't it? sadly for me, the anti-capitalist meet up group here at c99 reports so infrequently that their tomes would take me (a slow reader) hours to read.

yes, a big if: my fear is that permanent (which is what i'd typed) UBI like yang's $1000 (now $1200 a month, would replace all that remains of the social safety net. because: TINA.

@wendy davis via Mitch sure are being crystal clear about their priorities -- namely helping the rich and big corps, at the expense of the ordinary person and poor in an extraordinary crisis time..

Yang's UBI, iirc, didn't intend to replace the established social safety net, what's left of it anyway, but to supplement it or give people an alternative. It did offer some advantages, such as avoiding the indignities of means testing. For sure, if Ds wouldn't act aggressively to also save the remaining safety net, the UBI would not necessarily be a positive.

due to the silicon valley effect; artificial intelligence can perform many labor jobs. the past three corona CARES pckages hve been joint efforts of the Ds and Rs; the senate didn't even requite a roll call vote, as in: unanimous consent.

on 3.5 there were 5 nays, one D: aoc who got shit galore for voting for the others, as i understand it via the Twittersphere.

but for some reason you seem to believe that the Ds will fight for The People. but if UBI stays permanent, the very least it will do is depress wages for the serfs. IMHO, of course. and of course taxpayers will foot the bill...again.

up

@wendy davis that Nancy allowed Mitch and the GOP boys to write up the big corp relief bills in the senate, instead of passing a strong pro-Main St bill in the House first and then forcing Mitch and the Gang to oppose it in the senate.

Iow, the Ds are badly suffering from awful "leadership" at this time, led by the 80 yo Pelosi and her outdated and out of touch ways. If they don't finally begin to stand up in protest and demand a new leader who is alert to the urgency of the time, then they can't complain if many voters fail to show up for them in Nov.

But, yes, otherwise, if not for some pathetically clueless leadership issues, we probably would be seeing much better results in Congress, and it would be from Dem action, not from the Trump Party. Yes, Ds can be bought and paid for too, but it seems like nearly all Rs are.

SS tax never bothered me. Nor income tax, nor Illinois corporate tax.

Being my own salesman bothered me. I could talk with the tech types fine, but the corporate mangers were something else. They required stroking from a professional bullshit artist - i.e. a professional salesman. Takes one to know one.

EDIT:
Worst part was the bigger corporations where the HR department wanted to know what kind of visa you have. When told, "I don't have a visa, I'm a native born citizen", they were flabbergasted. They apparently never encountered that before and didn't like it.
I remember a bank that wanted both Fortran and C++, a rare combination. A lady in HR was from my former employer and talked me up. Nothing happened for weeks. So I called. "Tony, we in HR are mad as Hell. The manager decided to bring over a relative from India." It's enough to make a guy vote Republican and most of my colleagues, unless they were actual socialists, as some were, voted Republican. When I said we needed a union they would tell me to wash my mouth out. "I'm proud of my work and I don't want to strike for more money for shoddy work." Reaganism had taken tight hold. And some strikes did seem absurd.

That was NOT the bargain when I began working. When Reagan and O'Neill started doing it, it was only the "rich" that had to pay on their SS and only on a small amount (20% I think).
Then every one's favorite Democrat-Republican (end snark) raised it to 85% .

I don't mind paying on my 401K withdrawals. That was the bargain, pay later, not now. But the bargain was to pay at 100% later, not 185% later! meanwhile, Randall Stephenson, disgraced CEO of AT&T only has to pay on 50% of his CEO salary under the "deferred interest" rule.

I've got a bone to pick with that too. also with trump (and undoubtedly Biden) wanting to cut SS for we high earners because the budget won't allow it after they have thrown Trillions in coronavirus payments to rotten companies like Boeing.

We should do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian Darwinian theory he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living.

But I remind you that you are also the future and the hope of tens of thousands of your ancestors who made unimaginable sacrifices to carry your DNA into this moment of time. For one hundred thousand years, after they walked out of Africa, those who carried t he potential of your DNA survived or escaped just about every known adversity and catastrophe. When they migrated to save their lives and evolve, they took you with them. On and on, down through time, traveling through failed and forgotten civilizations, passing through great times of learning and glory, they persisted. Right now, you are the direct survivor of all your ancestors who sacrificed and survived for the past one hundred thousand years.

The people who carried you into this future over the millennia were communists. You should know that. They practiced socialism. They were fully realized human beings just like you, with all the basic hopes and dreams and self awareness that you have. Living communally with socialistic values is not a passing ideology. It is the only way that the human species can survive long enough to evolve while preserving the diversity they need, which is distributed among all of them, including the most vulnerable.

For one hundred thousand years, they didn't have 'jobs'. Survivors 'structured' their lives and constantly adapted, learning new skills and developing new tools that would improve and protect the lives of everyone. Each in their own way provided value. Only when they were captured and enslaved were they given 'jobs'. The ones who escaped slavery, over and over again, took you with them. Or you wouldn't be here, today.

You are trapped by your limited imagination into seeing your current experiences as the entirety of reality. But you have ancestral knowledge that could carry you into new and better levels of evolution and humanity. Only in this temporary dystopian reality that has trapped you mentally, is it necessary to sacrifice your human potential to some soul-sucking dead-end job, in order to cover the high cost of your health care premiums. We all have the potential for a meaningful avocation and refined consciousness that brings value to the entire Commune of Humankind.

@Cassiodorus

Thanks for the Peter Hudis link. I'll check it out. I was not aware that Marx left a gaping hole in his critique of capitalism by not including a specific working economic model of non-capitalism. So if Hudis cobbled one together from Marx' general body of work, then I suppose Marx conceived of a coherent system but decided not to go there. Good for him.

When Sanders brought 'socialism' to the 2016 campaign, it was regarded as an inconvenient turd in the political punchbowl, and was pushed out of the way and ignored. But in the 2020 campaign, Sanders came back to a more educated audience. He fished 'socialism' out of the punchbowl and plated it with confidence. This was an opportunity to examine how brain-edited folk from the 21st century would react to "socialism" now that Sanders' success made it an issue. USians had experienced a lifetime of propaganda that demonized socialism. Could they intellectually grasp this key concept of the Left — a political philosophy that is virtually unknown in the United States.

There were some promising discussion, which mostly occurred among a younger demographic, 50 years old and under. This younger cohort had not been exposed to the worst of the Cold War propaganda. They didn't witness the televised slaughter of Vietnam, a murderous war to beat back the onslaught of socialism and communism. This over-50 demographic, largely unaware of the monsters in DC, have suffered varying degrees of psychological damage administered by a totalitarian state that slowly betrayed them. They tend to cling to Joe Biden and Donald Trump — both with mental issues galore — to protect them from an evil world they don't understand.

Here's what I realized: Defining Socialism and discussing the kind of society it produces — Is a fruitless effort in the US. There is no probable political entity on the Left to resonate with. Not only is the political body that represents the Left perspective entirely missing, it is not detectible on the spectrum of American political philosophy. The Left has no independent measurable affect. From the outside, the existence of the Left in the US has always been uncertain and theoretical. Socialism has rarely had a place to take hold.

But more importantly, Socialism cannot be defined in a universal way. It exists only when it is applied to a particular state in the present moment. It can only be fully understood in the context of the technological possibilities of the system it is applied to. It evolves and changes as rapidly as humans do. It's not a stand-alone theory. I see it as a utopian app that is designed for a living society.

If Marx had designed a social economy that would display Socialism in action, I doubt it would make much sense after 1880. It would be a socialism where factories couldn't produce after dark, workers had no mobility, women were livestock, the average lifespan was 45, communications could travel only as fast as a horse could run. (The US Constitution has the same flaws and is easily hacked. We are the end result of allowing it to decay.)

I don't know why this is so long.

but i guess my point is trying to be that with so many claiming to DemExit here, and i wonder if it's growing, as well as the Greens welcoming the former sanders supporters, the party may grow.

but how convenient that jack dorsey chose to suspend his presidential campaign twitter, yes? maybe it was @howiehawkins20, although his personal account was still alive last i looked yesterday. and yes, there are so many definitions to that word, and no, not many are joining the SEP, but i'll sure vote Green for the fifth presidential cycle too. caveat: someone on the boards here said jesse ventura intends to run for Prez as a green; dunno about that one, lol. he might even think that's the way to get a Green in the White HOuse; i reckon howie and the others aren't under the same illusion.

forgive any typos.

‘Biden told KDKA he would not commit to a woman of color on his ticket.

“I’ll commit to that be a woman because it is very important that my administration look like the public, look like the nation. And there will be, committed that there will be a woman of color on the Supreme Court, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a vice president, as well,” Biden said. [we should have had a woman president already, in Hilary (Clinton), in my view,” Biden added. “There are a number of qualified women out there.”

#Ruh-roh.

‘I’m with her’: Biden fuels VP rumors as Hillary Clinton endorses him at women’s event’, 28 Apr, 2020, RT.com, April 28, 2020

"After Biden’s campaign announced a women’s town hall event on Tuesday afternoon, with a “special guest,” Clinton tweeted a picture from the Oval Office of herself in the company of Biden and then-President Barack Obama, calling it a “little hint” as who the guest might be and that “she’s excited.”
......................
Biden, 77, has emerged as the presumptive nominee after his only remaining rival Bernie Sanders gave him a full-throated endorsement earlier this month. The obvious explanation for Clinton's tweets is that she intended to endorse Biden as well – which is exactly what happened once the event started.

However, given his age and widespread concerns about his declining cognitive faculties, everyone has been on the lookout for hints of his pick for running mate, which Biden pledged would be a woman. Could it be Clinton herself?
.........................
The town hall’s timing is already awkward, between Reade’s accusations and Biden’s TV interview in which he complained about travel bans obstructing global “economic intercourse.” Clinton’s presence, even if virtual due to the coronavirus lockdowns, adds further controversy to Biden’s campaign.'

best tweets:

can't get rid of the parent tweet; they've changed the protocols, but the silverstone one:

serial dreams...which is life, which is a dream. i've had recurring dreams lately that i'm working on some sort of resurrection project with others, painting and repairing meager buildings, furniture, and so on. maybe...even gardens.

i pay high attention to my dream life, although i do forget some dreams. and i do try to apply jungian dream analysis that 'all of the characters in my dreams are aspects of myself'. sometimes i find that nearly impossible to believe, to say the least. yes, we all have hidden shadow selves, but still, yanno?

but as yaqui don juan mateus said in the casteneda series: 'one should always be aware that Death hovers unseen just behind our left shoulders', which i do try to remember and internalize.

this is the last song that AIM leader talking poet alchemist john trudell ever recorded before 'his ride came for him' as he put it. he'd turned poison into medicine as no one i'd ever known had.

buffy w/john trudell. great soul friends, they were. i hope he's still kickin' ass on the other side...

Before China became a political thing, when people forgot it existed, before they had to be brainwashed into hating China while knowing and experiencing nothing of it, I used to write on the topic of Chinese dreams. (Most Chinese claim they do not dream.) But I was referring to the dreaming of the collective consciousness. The planet is so configured that when we sleep, China is awake and animating the collective mind we all converge with. And the Chinese sleep their dreamless sleep while Crazy Uncle Sam is lighting up the collective. Together, we comprise perfect opposites. The Chinese read from right to left, from back to front. We read phonetically; from front to back. They read using pictograms (the characters are derived from tiny pictures) that carry meanings. However, the sound associated with any of the thousands of pictograms differs for speakers of the more than 200 different dialects spoken in China. So, while the Chinese may not all speak the same languages, they all read the same newspapers. They all write and communicate with the same written characters. Thus, they decode language and meaning using different hemispheres of the brain than we do. Our language is linear, their's is spatial.

We miscommunicate perfectly and dream the waking dreams of our opposites. What could possibly go wrong?

A magnetic essay of comments with a beautiful finale, Wendy.

(and i don't use that word lightly) comment as the final comment on this thread. some call the global collective consciousness the noosphere, which subject has fascinated me for the last couple decades. to me, it short-hands as in times of events of great impact, ideas spread ever-more rapidly. i liken it to whales thousands of miles apart learning a new whale song...

fascinating thought that the chinese characters use right-hemispheric activation rather than our linear brains. i will say that since my brain damage, i tend to think visually now.

p.s. i would love to know about more about our eyes, if i could email you, you me, or PM.

It's a magnetically held atmosphere that envelopes the planet with a quantum dimension that contains the entanglements and singularities that life generates. Land of the harmonic convergence.

That's right. That's the natural form that the well-trained intuitive mind that senses probable outcomes. This can affect the choices we make. It can expand or shrink the things that we believe are possible.

The Nazis explored ways to use the field to tune the psychological atmosphere back when electronic communications began to emerge. They continue to perfect it. I think that's what has made them so paranoid about the "Soviets" and "Chicoms" brainwashing Americans via Twitter and Facebook. All that nonsense about election meddling made them look like fools who succeeded in brainwashing themselves. Probably an occupational hazard of the Heisenberg variety. Society pays the price for their madness.
