This will have to do:
We had three inches of snow last Sunday, and it has been cold since, and what with The Virus, there haven't been many opportunities to take photos of anything particularly interesting.
And our tour guide explained that the Pope comes at a certain time once a year to bless that place...saying "many, many horrible things happened in this place".
Our tour guide said there was evidence that during really hot days, they would stretch a canvas across the entire opening of the colosseum for shade.
The middle area was where the gladiators "fought".
The bottom area was where the gladiators were housed until it was their time for fight exhibition.
On the bottom of the colosseum arches there were prayers written because the gladiators knew they would not come out alive.
And then of course, on the outside of the colosseum, one gets eaten alive by all the "souvenir" vendors.
A couple of Carabinieri saved us from a particularly vociferous salesman.

GREAT flower fotos SP! Beautiful! Love the second one with the Syrphid on the flower. Pretty sure that is Blue-eyed Grass, the dwarf Iris, it is on. Looks fairly grass-like, save the flower. The orange one #4, I am pretty sure is Scarlet Pimpernel. I don't know the others offhand. Outstanding photos! Beautiful work!
Some wild flowers that are in bloom right now.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Thanks for the flower ID. I don't know my flowers so anything is helpful.

I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
A recent shroom of some sort, haven't gotten that field guide out yet to ID it (to genus).
A stick insect on my seat belt. I pulled over and put it in a bush after pix.
Our pair of Summer Tanager are back around the yard, this the male at the bath.
Have a good one all, play it safe!

@MinuteMan
Thank you very much MM for the shroom ID! When I read 'Shaggy Ink Cap' it hit me, but I just don't have the shroom recall. Always need to get out the books. They are fairly common here (so. cent. Texas) and I may have posted a pic before, not sure. Are you a fungi guy? I am a fun guy, on a good day.

I probably shouldn’t be complaining about the weather while you are confined by cold and snow, not to mention the virus. We finally got more than a minute (a whole 3 hours) of sunshine. And the wind is steadier.
If I could post some photos I would, but my laptop seems to have given up, and is out of commission. Damn, if I remember how to post a photo from my ancient iPad.
Cheers everyone, and enjoy the weekend as much as possible.
