Confessions of a broken-hearted Tulsicrat

Nobody ever accused alligators of being all that smart, except perhaps Pogo (Sobek love him). So, when I started getting wet behind the ears as the saying goes--or at least, one saying goes. There are more sayings than that. For one, I am fond of interspersing wise musings from the past into essays--this may often be done without attribution, in order to promote an aura of my cleverness. You may cease laughing for the moment and listen respectfully as I recite my political stupidity. Perhaps, as the attorneys say, this might bear some probative value. Most, if not all c99ers are well-past the stage of making bone-head political stances. But WTF do you expect from a thick-skulled alligator?

Please be patient, this ramble will eventually arrive at Tulsicratocracy--or you may proceed to the bottom or perhaps do something productive.

First, I have deep-seated political sin that I will only reveal on my death bed and only if I am in a good mood then. Now my first admissible sin was momentarily believing John McCain. I was cured of that attachment when he picked Sarah Politician to Nowhere Palin. Remind me to tell you of the pizza shop owner who used Sarah to baby sit their kids. Apparently not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But John McCain, the singing canary according to co-residents of the Hanoi Hilton was a fellow who never encountered a war he didn't like. When he was actively flying, spreading mayhem, there are incidents of where he took off flight decks so rapidly that there is a term for it. This hot take off leaves flames and uncombusted fuel behind the jet engines. This is not only inconsiderate but a practice officially frowned upon by Naval regulations. McCain McCain. Muaz Moustafa, Al-Baghdadi, Poroshenko,---fuck it, where didn't he do his filthy miss? Don't forget the Keating Five. And, oh yeah, how many homes he owned--McCain lost track. Brain tumor maybe. Trumpian rub-out perhaps.

I voted for Hope and Change once. Blecch! Bad

My next notable political mistake was believing that Pocohontas, aka Liawatha, was a real progressive. Nope. Lizzy, aka whoizliz, is a real piece of work. Liz iz a real peice of work. Dreck. Unadulterated, certified 99.4% pure dreck.

Then Bernie. I loved Bernie. Still respect the dude for his ideas and his courage-within-limits. Contributed to Bernie as much as the millionaires and billionaires (i.e., $2700). Suppose that tags me as rich. Went to the Bern's enthusiastic Santa Maria CA rally which featured not only the usual English-Spanish translators, but also English to Misteco translators--and Misteco in sign language. Match that NYC or Chi town!

Boo hoo.

Pardon my sob. A sob consisting of involuntary emotional expression, which involves involuntary exhalation while enunciating involuntarily soft gasping accompanied by sad facies with or without some tearfulness. Sobs may also be noted to be immediately preceded by sharp, abrupt inhalations resulting in sudden bilateral shoulder elevation.

Where the Eff is this going?

Hang on. Tulsi, here we come.

Bernie broke my heart when he kissed the ring of the Giant Rat of Chappaqua. Ugh. All over. Good bye. It's done. My heart, politically was broken. Crushed. Arrgh! Hurt so bad. Ooh. It was like my divorce from the first Mrs. Gator.

By the time Bernie screwed me over (and others also), I had journeyed from the Great Orange Satan to the friendly environs of c99. In response to a posted comment by me, one of our wise members, whose name I don't recall, said to me "this is just the first heartache you'll get [from politics]".

Vowing never to get suckered again, I continued undeterred by all political pleas and seduction of the political class. That is, until the siren song of Tulsi Gabbard. Then, I, like a big dumb fish, open-end my mouth widely and inserted the hook myself into my oral cavity.

This time, caution did restrain my financial generosity. I don't regret my modest donations to Tulsi. She has a good message. Basically she has a kind heart but a will of steel. When Tulsi becomes president, under whichever partei banner she chooses, Tulsi will rule as the iron fist in a velvet glove. Make no mistake about this. Tulsi's resolve is solid although I do not know what her deep intentions are.

She's another one of them. That Jimmy Dore video is extremely difficult to watch because, frankly, it's elitist and unreal. Talk to us, Tulsi! Instead it's bushwah around a crafted statement.

She supports Biden although he's not yet the nominee. She can't have it make sense so instead she spouts platitudes. That, to me, is a disqualifier.

Not a flaw in that amazing woman.

Pretty damn short list.

I went back and forth on her until a couple months ago when I just threw up my hands in disgust.
Now I know she was a phony all along. I sense you are still not ready to admit that, but that's okay. One day you'll accept that no way she endorses Biden if she truly believes in anything she was saying.

she merely stole votes from Bernie, but in the end, that didn't matter since they didn't actually count the votes anyways.

I just didn't fall so hard. I saw, fairly clearly, the ways in which she was to the right of me, and the ways in which she wasn't as firmly committed to some policies that mattered to me a lot.

But I did trust. Even knowing she was associated with the CFR.

Then she went for Biden, and I found out she was also associated with No Labels, on the same day.

Ow.

I can't believe I let myself get tricked again. Some of it still doesn't make sense--if she's a sheepdog, why did she take down Kamala? Seems like an awfully costly way to earn trust, or social capital, as the assholes now call it.

Millions of people wanted to believe that this time someone who gives a rat's ass about us would win even though we knew that democrats would never let Bernie or Tulsi anywhere near the presidency. This is what happens when millions are desperate because of how things have been rigged against them.

I thought if more people were watching and keeping track of things that they wouldn't dare steal it again. Remember how desperate people were after Bush and let Obama be a Rorschach's candidate who said something and they filled in the blanks? Listen to some of his old campaign speeches and see how hollow they really were. "Yes we can!" Yes we can what?

@snoopydawg I know I tend to be too skeptical, but it's interesting to me to look at the other end of the spectrum, which I think would be Rorschach's candidate. This term made my think of Michael Moore's podcast about Elizabeth Warren where he goes on about how the signs were all there, but he didn't see them. It's an interesting concept, and I think we'll see more of these vs. real progressives.

In many ways, my political trajectory and experience has been much the same as yer gator. I loved Tulsi's non-intervention peace message. It was great to hear it be part of the conversation for the first time in a long time. Her single-shot takedowns were beautiful.

But for her to say the people have spoken and clearly chosen Joe was a straight up lie. She has ulterior motives she has not divulged, and has lost my trust now. That is very sad.

We are not alone. She broke lots of people's hearts selling out to a bumbling, war mongering, incoherent, corporatocrat, I am sure.

Then they slip on that ONE THING, and we just over look it because, then they slip up on that SECOND THING, and we do it again, until they completely betray us and expect us to accept it.
It was tough for me to ride Bernie's train after he capitulated to HRC.
He did me a favor.

DCOTN is up for grabs and a vote.

- We’re going to teach the world all kinds of things about how this virus behaves because Russia won’t share their data and China did better at containing it.

- Some are more concerned with his stutter and technical difficulties with his media roll out.

- How precisely, exactly does a "potential" nominee exert pressure in Congress? Particularly, with Republicans?

(Kos wrote another anti Bernie diary and wants him to drop out.)

- Every time Bernie speaks, Unicorns fart rainbows! /s
(Not really snark)

- Disagree. There’s a reason Putin is running an operation to convince progressives to not vote for Biden. That’s how they won in 16 and that’s their only path to win again.

Best comment

Unfortunately, the purge drove out a lot of the most interesting people on this site.I think also, Kos’ behavior drove a lot of the most interesting diarists away.

Glad a lot of “pure lefties who were the real Democrats” went over to Caucus99. That was the Tulsi Gabbard/Jill Stein crowd. There were people here I fucking detested who were attacking Barack Obama’ s character. Glad they’re fucking gone. Gone and good riddance.
(Oh no attacking Obama?)

But the winners are...

omfg how far up your own ass do you have to be to write something like this?

Fuck Bernie Sanders, fuck Jill Stein, fuck Ralph Nader, and fuck all of the other 3rd party candidates who work to elect Republicans. Except Pat Paulsen. He was cool.

There is always an exception for ones point of view, but only for yourself.

I remember when comments like that would get you banned. Not any more. You can say, "fuck Tulsi and she is a Russian asset and you'll get lots of standing O's.

Were they referring to Bernie Sanders here? That's Senator Bernie Sanders, sitting US Senator from Vermont, who has worked to build bipartisan coalitions in the House and Senate for the past 30 years?

How precisely, exactly does a "potential" nominee exert pressure in Congress? Particularly, with Republicans?

Seriously, those people are lost. I lurked at that place a lot, beginning in the first term of the terrible Dubya years (that's the Dubya who's now good friends with the Obamas, who say he shares their values).

But I never became a member. I never posted there. Every time I thought about joining, something stopped me. I found out what that something was in 2015 after Bernie's campaign took off.

I'd check in as a lurker, hoping to find rational, literate political discussions, and instead I'd find myself in the midst of people running with knives, slashing at other users in cold fury. And the admins did nothing. It was a toxic experience to encounter that vicious, nasty, crazy mess. You can't reach them, and they will only drag you down if you try.

but they don't acknowledge all of the bills that he has gotten passed with bipartisan support. Oh no... he's just spend 30 years sucking off the government teat. Quick can anyone name a bill DiFi has passed that helped main stream Americans? Or any other democrat that has been in congress for decades? Oh, but then Bernie is not a democrat just in case you haven't heard that yet while Joe Manchin D from VA is even though he voted for Kavanaugh for gawd's sake..

If anyone goes in a positive Biden diary and talks about his record the knives come out, but it is A-OK for them to come into every positive Bernie one and take a wet dump. Write truthful diaries on Biden's true history? HIT JOB and you get timed out like Subir has or NR as Tom P is.

The reason I still look in is to find something to chuckle about. And yeah I am bored enough to look there. I get a kick out of them wanting to not cover Trump because he lies all the time and they love that Rachel brought that up. But they refuse to see how they have been duped into the new McCarthyism thinking even though the media has admitted numerous times that Mueller did not make his case and yes the FBI lied to the FISA court to get their warrants. And no Biden did nothing wrong in Ukraine nor did Hunter....

SO yeah I chuckle.

It's really not important, but if JtC invited Markos here, what would be the reason we would be here right now?

I saw the Bernie rip up by Markos, and thought the best thing would be to continue the debates. Trumps going to monopolize the media as much as possible. The media have no real reason to cover Biden beyond the random snippet. At least if there are debates ol' Joe can get some sparring practice in, and maybe adopt some progressive policies to widen the tent door.

I think Trump will hit Biden with everything he can find or make up if they debate, and if Trump's seen as the winner he won't have another debate, leaving Biden to rely on politcal ads. If Trump can paint Biden as corrupt, why change crooks mid stream?
