the Incrementalist (Obama) and Reactionary (Her) circles, but doesn't position himself to appeal to the Progressive circle.

Warren positions herself to appeal to all three circles, playing the Progressive policy Incrementalist technocratic Reactionary IP candidate all in one folksy Aunt Eller package.

That's why she's in the middle section where all three circles overlap.

And, oddly, Steyer's lack of endorsement of Biden suggests to me that he might have been exactly what he said he was: a billionaire terrified by climate change. IOW, his money hasn't stopped his brain working.

My guess is most of Warren's Progressive support has bled away by now, and what's left are a hodgepodge of soft technocrat Incrementalists and woke feminist Reactionaries (both of which are more likely to support Biden than Bernie)

Warren's also may take the bulk of Kobuchar castoffs now that she's the only establishment female candidate remaining.

Once again, the establishment playing it too clever by half.

By contrast, it will be interesting to see where Steyer voters go. If climate change truly is their issue, Biden and Bloomberg have a tough sell.

But lots of yang gangers are not happy about it. Yang ran on things differently than Biden did I believe..

BTW if anyone is interested in what Moosetits has to say about Bernie

I know it must suck tasting victory, with a fragmented field giving him and his hardcore base of support an advantage over the rest of the field. But just like in 2016, Bernie Sanders isn’t built for a consolidated field, and the problem isn’t “the establishment.” The problem is that he refuses to do anything to grow his support.

While Sanders has led the field in national polling, he hasn’t been able to crack 30% in the polling composite. When you can’t get a third of the support, you have no business being put in charge.

But here’s the thing: He didn’t need to be stuck at less than a third of the party’s support. He could’ve set the stage to hoover up the support from other candidates the way that Joe Biden appears to be doing. So why isn’t that (seemingly) not happening?

Because when you make a career out of demonizing Democrats and signaling to your supporters to demonize any detractors, well, that’s called “burning bridges.” And burning bridges is a shitty way to rally support. That means insulting and calling any Democrats who don‘t support you “neoliberals” and “corporatists” and whatever other insipid insult isn’t helpful. And yes, while all candidates had overly zealous supporters, only one campaign’s supporters were systematically awful, and only one’s were apparently encouraged to be so by the campaign’s top brass.

Today, former Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid endorsed Joe Biden. This is how Sanders’ campaign manager reacted:

Disappointing. I'll forever have respect and love for Senator Reid. But I'm old enough to remember when he thought Biden's ideas were worthy of being put in a fireplace.

Kos thinks that's an attack on Reid. Oh Markos you need thicker skin if you think that was an attack. But I'd love to see the look on kos' face if Bernie goes all the way. He's also bitching about Bernie not getting more than 30% of the votes. Guess he hasn't noticed that lots more people are running this time. It's worth a read to see what else he considers an attack.

In raw vote totals, Sanders received about half the votes in Iowa and New Hampshire that he did in 2016.

D'oh!

LMAO..he says he's showing something Bernie said when it's something someone else said Bernie said. Sorry guys I just had to share this with you. The pie fights have been epic and people get away with saying "f'ck that person and the horse they rode in on. Some times it's directed at Tulsi.

And in case you forgot:

Bernie isn’t a Democrat -he’s an independent who has glommed onto the Democratic Party that’s he likes to demonize, then set himself apart as a democratic socialist. It’s called hypocrisy - maybe he should be wearing red. He’s an angry, flailing old white guy with ideas that inflame a low information segment of disenfranchised voters too blind to realize he has NO plan to cure their collective indignation. He’s Trump with an IQ! 30 recs.

It goes downhill fast.

I guess this qualifies for DCOTN.

@Alligator Ed … the fact that the Republicans in the Senate are gearing up for Ukrainegate II, focusing on the Bidens and Burisma, so this is emerging as a focal point of the campaign. Mainstream Dems who have been crowing about the "S" word and Bernie's problems with "electability" are going to be eating some crow after Biden gets subjected to the same sort of attacks once the tapes of his "Quid Pro Quo" statements are replayed ad nauseum in Trump attack ads, and who knows what the Senate investigating committees might dig up that's not already known. Biden, not Bernie, is by far the riskier pick for Dems who want to unseat Trump in 2020.

@JCWeb

They are cracking Ukraine wide open RE: 2016 election meddling. Unlike the Russia Hoax, this investigation has actual physical evidence to back it up.

"Just the News" ran with this headline yesterday:

Ukrainian court throws wrench into Joe Biden’s 2020 election plans

Judge orders legal probe of former VP forcing ouster of prosecutor investigating gas firm employing his son Hunter Biden

A Ukrainian court has ordered an investigation into whether Joe Biden violated any laws when he forced the March 2016 firing of the country’s chief prosecutor.

The ruling could revive scrutiny of Hunter Biden’s lucrative relationship with an energy firm in that corruption-plagued country just as the former vice president’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination is surging after a lackluster start.

Former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, who has long alleged he was fired because he would not stop investigating the Burisma Holdings firm that employed Hunter Biden, secured the ruling last month. Ukrainian officials confirmed the State Bureau of Investigation has since complied and initiated the probe.

The Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv ruled last month that Shokin’s lawyers had provided sufficient evidence to warrant a probe and “obliged the authorized officials of the State Bureau of Investigation" to accept the ex-prosecutor's complaint and "start pre-trial investigation of the reported data," according to an official English translation of the ruling provided by Shokin's attorney.

.

These folks are trying very hard to use a neutral tone in all the reporting and avoid and rhetoric. They don't source feature stories from other news outlets. Stories have first-hand evidence, documents, letters, videos, interviews, etc posted with the news. They are covering the news the media refuse to.

Criminal charges have been filed against Joe Biden by Ukraine's Justice Department. Charges include Obstruction of Justice, Money Laundering, and perhaps attempted murder. Greece is also a party to the complaint.

Yep Vlad is once again interfering in the election by getting Ukraine to open an investigation into Biden's shenanigans in Ukraine. How do I know? I read it on DK. Everything about Hunter and Joe Biden is just conspiracy theory and if you don't believe it you are reading right wing talking points. No matter that many main stream news sites wrote about long before Russia Gate was a twinkle in Obama's mind.

But if Russia is fighting Ukraine then how can they have power over what they do? Don't know because it doesn't make sense, but there it is.

Thanks for posting the links. Democrats know what is waiting in the wings for Joe if he gets appointed, but they don't care. Another distraction while Trump is doing his things will be what they want. We have seen that from the gitgo, but others haven't.

Bernie should be a couple hundred delegates ahead of the field, although California is so large we might not know for several days how it ends up.

I should say that although I don't like Biden I really detest Bloomberg so the best outcome would be voters rejecting that guy. The people who supposedly like Bloomy now do so only because they've bought into the commercials (which are insulting and make me want to punch my computer screen). If Bloomy does badly and quits then those people are likely to just sit down and go "huh?" rather than support Biden or anybody.

Bloomberg is just Hillary's Frankenstein.

I think Obama has much more control over the present DNC than Hillary although she certainly still wields considerable juice.

Bloomberg didn't enter the race to cut Bernie's vote down but to cut down Biden's to ensure a brokered convention where anything goes.

And if and when anything goes, Bloomberg's moola comes big into play.

I can see a Hillary - Warren ticket if Biden falls short. Unless of course, the Bernmeister pulls off a miracle today.

You have put into words and picture eloquently what I have been clumsily imaging for over the past 2 years. My humble prediction in 2017 said that the Dems were trifurcating prior to their terminal implosion and Whiggification. But you have provided the correct theoretical framework, in my view, byuu which to analyze my naive ideas about the trifurcation.

Your exposition of the interactions between the three groups helps explain the remaining, although increasingly tenuous relations between the three parties of the Left.

The symbology speaks well for the central thesis.

Well done. Wish I had read part 2 earlier--much earlier.

Pluto's Republic's picture

The entire series is very well mapped and interpreted. The logic is dynamic across time. And the processes yield the changing landscape. It's hard to say if these candidate alliances we see now were in actually in place from the beginning, or if they evolved out of political dynamics during the Primaries. I suspect if you composed this same diagram with these remaining candidates prior to Iowa, it would look somewhat different.

Certainly some of them repositioned themselves where they saw a political opening to future relevance. Some are fixed in place. Warren can change colors without moving. Tulsi's position is not intuitive to me. Is she emerging out of, or sinking into, the Reactionary Zone? Had she once been fully inside the Progressive Zone?

More than ever, I believe the Progressives/Left need to Occupy the Democratic Party, and eject the rest. By my calculation, the Left has the political numbers (inside and outside the Democratic Party) to defeat any Incremental or Reactionary Centrist who dares to run as a Democrat. Using one man, one vote democracy. If Centrists want to win an election, let them join the Republican Party or start another party of their own.

I'd like to see a similar diagram when FDR was strategizing the New Deal. That was probably the last time a TriParty configuration occurred. Also wonder how the Republican Party would intersect. Probably have to go 3-D for that.

I hope people will read this to see what is on the line this election. The elites are pulling out the stops to keep their massive transfers of wealth going with help from the dem establishment.

But what happens if they do steal it again will be interesting to see. I'd love to see the DP explode and a new one rise up. AOC has started the ball rolling with her PAC that has divorced itself from the democrat's status quo.

The principle is that most of these "candidates" are lying a-holes. Many are in it to get a post in the new ain't gonna happen Dem administration. Liawatha for Secretary of the Interior, so she can be in charge of the Cherokees, Sioux, Navajo, etc. Amy Klobuchar for Secretary of the Environment so she gets oil pipelines for Minnesota.
