16 I was in one of those social situations where a bunch of miscellaneous kids who don't know each other are just sort of tossed together. There was a cute little tween (though we didn't have that word in those days) ... we started announcing our ages, I said 16, she said 15 ... I'm afraid I wasn't remotely sensitive to the fragility of adolescent girls, I pretty much laughed and said, "No, you're not, you're like 13." She didn't say anything. I said, "So how old are you really?" and she looked down and away and said, with a bit of disgust, "13".
7 years later, I'm flying south out of Winnipeg, and I hear a young woman talking to a couple of brothers in their late teens, it's a funny little coincidence, turns out they used to live on the same street, but she's older than them ... I look at her, then look again, and I say, "Hey, are you So and So?" She looks at me and says yeah, and I'm like, Hey, I remember you, we used to sail the Lowisa. We all had separate layovers in Minneapolis, I bought them all a drink (only time I've EVER bought alcohol for a minor!) and chatted in the airport bar for about an hour. She and I are piecing together our shared history, and she says, "I think your brother thought I was too young for him," and I say, "No, you're mistaking me for my younger step-brother [weird fact -- my step-bro and I have a strong, though coincidental, familial resemblance] ... I'm the one who thought you were too young. And you were too young." There's actually a funny story there, at one point my step-bro was trying to help her and her friend get onto a boat and fell into the lake.
Anyway, she gave me her address and I sent her a letter, but it came back return to sender and I've never heard of/from her again.

for China. Biden, Bloomberg, Pete, and Amy are authoritarians that want to tell the rest of the world how to live, while also denying healthcare for all. Liz asserted the the number one job of a President is to keep Americans safe through use of its military --- wrong, wrong, wrong.

16 I was in one of those social situations where a bunch of miscellaneous kids who don't know each other are just sort of tossed together. There was a cute little tween (though we didn't have that word in those days) ... we started announcing our ages, I said 16, she said 15 ... I'm afraid I wasn't remotely sensitive to the fragility of adolescent girls, I pretty much laughed and said, "No, you're not, you're like 13." She didn't say anything. I said, "So how old are you really?" and she looked down and away and said, with a bit of disgust, "13".
7 years later, I'm flying south out of Winnipeg, and I hear a young woman talking to a couple of brothers in their late teens, it's a funny little coincidence, turns out they used to live on the same street, but she's older than them ... I look at her, then look again, and I say, "Hey, are you So and So?" She looks at me and says yeah, and I'm like, Hey, I remember you, we used to sail the Lowisa. We all had separate layovers in Minneapolis, I bought them all a drink (only time I've EVER bought alcohol for a minor!) and chatted in the airport bar for about an hour. She and I are piecing together our shared history, and she says, "I think your brother thought I was too young for him," and I say, "No, you're mistaking me for my younger step-brother [weird fact -- my step-bro and I have a strong, though coincidental, familial resemblance] ... I'm the one who thought you were too young. And you were too young." There's actually a funny story there, at one point my step-bro was trying to help her and her friend get onto a boat and fell into the lake.
Anyway, she gave me her address and I sent her a letter, but it came back return to sender and I've never heard of/from her again.
