Submitted by apenultimate on Tue, 02/11/2020 - 12:54am
Dixville Notch, Hart's Location, and Millsfield are finished voting. The combined total is:
Klobuchar: 8 votes
Sanders: 4 votes
Warren: 4 votes
Yang: 3 votes
Bloomberg: 2 votes
Buttigieg: 2 votes
Biden: 2 votes
Gabbard: 1 vote
Steyer: 1 vote
Looks like a Klobuchar breakaway!!! (Some snark intended . . .)

what is it about Klobuchar?

Dixville Notch
is a tiny community in New Hampshire that traditionally meets at midnight on the day of the New Hampshire presidential primary, making it the first to vote. It's a NH political tradition.
"Tiny" means that a total of 5 people are registered to vote there. From the article linked in the essay:
Two other tiny communities also gathered to vote early today. The combined results of the three are shown in the essay.
It looks like a total of 27 people voted, of whom 8 voted for Klobuchar. Not sure that means anything specific at this point.
To me, the most interesting thing about the Dixville Notch voting was that Michael Bloomberg (who's not an official candidate in the NH election) got 3 write-in votes, one of which was submitted by a participant in the Republican primary, not the Democratic one.
Edited: it's a primary not a caucus.

@mimi She got that Klobmentum
Anyway, y’all Dixballchinians can suck it. Bernie’s gonna win!!
but, but wasn't Alaska already
I have a broken mind. So, there is that. Nothing more to see here.

@mimi Don't get it either.
However, what the polls indicate is that Klob doesn't have a gender gap. IOW, polled equally with men and women. Guessing, because I didn't note it, that her demo sweet spot is with the 30-60 age bracket.
Warren has and Harris had large gender gaps; men don't/didn't support either.
Gabbard also has a gender gap, but the opposite. Women don't like her. Don't get that either as she's my first choice and I'm and old woman.
Women don't like Tulsi?
Sure thing, Tulsi doesn't run on her gender or race ID, like the rest of the bunch. If you showcase yourself on the base of your ID, you disqualify yourself, imo. Who cares what kind of ID a candidate has? I care for what they fight for, what they defend and what their character is.

The results are wonderful.
It gives me the opportunity to repeat this video.

Front page news: KLOBUCHAR WINS IN LANDSLIDE!
Is that snark? I wish I could tell.
actually it's reported as a Bloomberg win

I suspect the Bernie story tonight will be either "Sanders wins as expected, no big deal" or "Sanders fades".
Woo-hoo!! Our first woman president!!
Says Amy Klobuchar: "D'oh!"
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

White Votes down the road.... courtesy of RT.com:
@wendy davis On the plus side
Bloomie ain't no Democratic Trump. Two months in and $200 million dollars later, the former NYC mayor is battling the fmr South Bend mayor for fourth place. A month in and a few million dollars and Trump was the leader of the GOP pack of rats.
If Bloomie's entering name ID had been similar to Steyer's, who has also spent $200 million, he would also be at the bottom of the leader board at 1-3%. Bezos could probably double Bloomie's performance with only $100 million. Lord knows that Zuckerberg could do.
Zuckerberg
OMFG. Bloomberg has his own media, but it doesn't reach as broadly as Zuckerberg's. Z would be a serious problem if he decided to run. Maybe we'll see him next cycle.

given that i know nothing
about his politics, especially FP ones, i'm loath to buy into your formula as not being a Trump Democrat. but i do know about the revolving NYPD commissioners and their histories of 'shoot PoC to kill, sort it out later'.
but then i know nothing about klobuchar or steyer, either. but i appreciate satire mightily. ; )
Brevity doesn't always work
Just as plenty of Republicans were in search of a GOP Obama after 2008, many Democrats would now like a Democratic version of Trump: a billionaire that can beat their billionaire. It's the most superficial and naive form of electoral calculation. Another similarity with this hypothetical match-up is that in 2016 Republican voters weren't sure that Trump was a Republican given his past associations with many Democrats that they loathe -- they got over that; whereas Bloomie was at least through the early naughts an actual GOP mayor and speaker at the 2004 GOP convention. That alone -- regardless of any of his other positions (mostly for the 1%) -- should completely disqualify him from consideration by Democratic voters.
However, my point was that Bloomie isn't even succeeding electorally the way Trump did in 2015. $200 million spent to date and his not near the top of the Democratic primary leader board.
Why are they allowed to post results...
before the polls are even open everywhere else?
Another cute, historical 'quirk' of our broken system?
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Huffpost is predicting Amy Klobuchar's "surge".
