The Democratic Party died last night.
The Klinton/oligarch/CIA faction has finally managed to kill its' host as parasites do. This must surely be one of the most unedifying spectacles of modern times, a group of cowardly intriguers so frightened of one 79 yr. old senator from a small state that they were willing to destroy a venerable institution which has been a part of the history of this nation since the early 1800s rather than allow that senator to claim an earned victory in a small state. Someone please remind me how many delegates Iowa will send to the convention?
I am sorry to see it, even though I demexited in 2010. Another piece of the country I grew up in is gone now.
The walking dead hulk will likely stumble to a deserved defeat in November and unleash Trump unstrained on the world. I hope he uses last night's debacle to finally investigate and prosecute the guilty, starting with Mme. C herself.
I call on the likes of Joe Sestak, Donna Edwards, Beto O'Rourke, Nina Turner, Stacy Abrams, Andrew Gillam, Dr. Jill Stein, and a host of others who have been disrespected and backstabbed by the national party. You folks want to be leaders? Well now is when we need you to form the nucleus of a new party of neither left or right, but of national justice and unity. Or maybe two parties, Democratic Socialists in the cities and Greens in the countryside.
The fundamental policy of such a party or parties must be two-fold:
1. a non-interventionist, foreign policy with peaceful dismantling of overseas bases.
2. Restoration of what Henry Clay (Senator from Kentucky, I believe it was, in the decades before the Civil War) called the American System of national development. The American System had 3 parts, public education, federal investment in infrastructure, and protective tariffs. 'Protectionism' is not a bad word, folks, ideology to the contrary. It is at the national level the principle of taking care of your own first.
Given those two policies, I believe the climate crisis can be successfully addressed, but it must be understood that Americans, descendants, most of us, of the working poor of many countries, are makers and builders. We want to be put to work building things. "Retraining" us all to be computer tappers or Wallyworld greeters won't cut it, and we won't vote for anyone who can't come up with a better offer than that.
I call on women and men of the left to do what you used to be good at, research. Last night's debacle would be a good place to start. Find out, as I know you can, who made what decisions, who issued what orders to what state party officials, and publish the results.

as to this:
"This must surely be one of the most unedifying spectacles of modern times...", i'd say it's very edifying:
edifying: providing moral or intellectual instruction.

Is Gaslighting the Sanders campaign the new plan?
The problem for them will be that more people are paying attention than in 2016. I think it's going to be harder to insist people aren't seeing what they are seeing this time around.
Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.
The Sanders campaign
simply needed to film on camera every caucus in every precint. Digitally record the paper trail BEFORE it vanishes. Have documenters at the central hq filming what they are claiming and comparing to what the precincts had.
End of corruption.
I'm not sure if they can do that but,
I'm reading they had two captains at every site (one who wasn't even known to the other) making their own record of the votes. So, they have their own papertrail which seems to be accurate.
(Sorry if I didn't explain that well.)

I am quite sure that ending the Iowa caucuses was one motive,
in addition to stopping Sanders. The present Democratic leadership, you should excuse the expression, despises retail politics.

Pelosi, meanwhile, surely knows she and her faction of conservadems won't survive the wave of progressives who are likely to be sent to the House this fall. I think angry leftists are going to be turning out in force to vote for a lot of the progressive candidates this cycle. It's called blowback, Nancy.

Bingo. And don't forget folks that Bloomberg is not an oligarch and it was quite okay for him to donate $300,000 plus to the DNC and then they changed the rules so that he could get on the debate while they wouldn't for Harris, Booker, Tulsi or Yang. But of course being an oligarch (I know) doesn't mean he is a bad one like the Koch brothers and the other oligarch who are republicans even though Bloomberg was one not that long ago. Democratic Oligarchs are just A OK. Make sense of this if you can. I can't. Nina Turner is right. Bloomberg is an oligarch (as in rich f'cker who bought his way into the campaign but that's okay for orange reasons.)

Amen. And let us not forget that it was Obama who pushed Perez on to the DNC instead of Ellison. How did he have that power to do that when it was the Clintons who owned the DNC at the time. A final favor for his BFF Hills?

They should hire O'Rourke for that job.
He may not have been much as a presidential candidate, but he does seem to know how to be an administrator. I believe he was conned into the ill-advised presidential run in order to keep him out of the DNC.
Mary Bennett
On the new debate rules ...
I don't see Bloomberg qualifying -- yet. He has only one poll at 10% and, so far, no delegates. Unless DNC changes the rules (again), needs three more polls and/or at least one delegate from somewhere. With the Iowa mess, no one is dropping right now, so that might be harder to achieve than one might think, even with his BS commercials blanketing the airwaves.

Last night The Hill pointed out that Bloomberg has tons more money than all but a few of the people who TPTB refer to as "oligarchs", not to mention a major media organization which has been instructed not to report ill of him and he's bought his way into politics. Sounds like an oligarch to me.

I was never really a democrat or Democrat (if you prefer). I officially started being politically active in the fall 1969 as I turned 21, the age of majority in those days, and to this day have been a pain in the backside for all politically savvy individuals I have known.
No one likes a smart-ass at the party. I really don't get along with those that don't get that in Reality (think Red pill) my vote is meaningless, while in reality (think Blue pill) my vote is vital. When you stop thinking superficially (that is the way most people function) and start thinking substantively you can easily see how to solve social problems and begin to fix those constructed problems.
But on the other hand, it is so much more fun to shout slogans, epithets, et cetera rather than actually …
RIP
But if one starts to question one narrative or authority,
what’s to keep one from questioning the next, and the next, and the next . . . ?
“If they were able to fool me and so many others about X, can I believe them about Y . . . or Z . . . ?”
Where will the questioning end? “Orthodox” beliefs about 9/11? The Holocaust? Science? G_d?
Safer and more comfortable for most people’s psyche to not even start.
Genuine Questioning
as opposed to just rearranging ones prejudices and preconceptions produces amazing results. And, it is so much more satisfying than the "teaching to the test" that passes for education in so many venues.
RIP

And then there's the truth: your vote is meaningless because crooked dicks (Peyronie's disease?) have corrupted the system, but your valid, uncorrupted vote is still vital in the system as it should be.

In the past, it has been all too easy to denounce third parties as the vanity projects of cranks and weirdos. But, now, we have many persons of substance and high achievement who could be believable standard bearers for a new party.
Edwards, Gillam, Sestak, et al. you wanted to be leaders, well here is your chance. I would even suggest that Gary Johnson ought not to be despised. Granted, he doesn't play well in national TV or maybe not on the East Coast, but he is the kind of politician whom westerners admire, capable, with a varied record of achievement.

I recommend it to everyone.
I believe Lamont hacked the Iowa Dem website
in other words I'm comfortable with the idea that this is deliberate, along with the non-reporting of the Des Moines poll.
If it's not clear on that Lamont reference, Lieberman lost the primary and then claimed Lamont had hacked his site, which was a lie, but it gave the media something to talk about other than Lamont's win.
This emphasis today on the "app", along with that non-poll, is just too suspicious a smokescreen. It could be true. It could be that incompetent people created a worthless app. But I....I just can't shake the feeling that it's phony.
Does that mean Bernie runs third party? heh
wow, thanks for that callback. I forgot about that little kerfuffle, back when hacked websites and leaked data wasn't a weekly occurrence.

I would join it in a heartbeat.
"I used to vote Republican & Democrat, I also used to shit my pants. Eventually I got smart enough to stop doing both things." -Me
Yes. App or not, they would have denied Bernie's win
. The Dems have made it abundantly, overwhelmingly clear that they will not, under any circumstances, allow Bernie to win the nomination. Period. And therefore, odds are immense that it's not going to happen. And as most of us know here, it is not trivial if Bernie loses this time. The 20 strongest, shiniest, best-spoken, best-educated corporate Dems are no substitute for a genuine democratic populist. There is no comparison. Those who hedge with, "Well, gee, maybe Liz..." are throwing their votes, along with their minds, into the trash. The opposition (the oligarchy, establishment, deep state, etc. in all its guises) is absolute in its intentions toward the underclass (the 99%). They are dead set on keeping the reins of power to themselves, which means keeping us powerless.
If people could get that through their heads, then maybe we can awaken that do-or-die within ourselves and render the current Democratic Party null and void. At this point, Bernie could run on his own or he could run in open defiance of the criminal party that is hell-bent on stopping him. Either way, he would have a ton of support. Caitlin Johnstone was correct that what the oligarchy fears most is US, the people.

We now know why it was so important
...to pull The Des Moines Register Iowa Poll at the very last minute.
Had the Poll been published, they could have never cheated the Democratic Primary. The Iowa Poll would have served as an exit poll.
A year ago, I would be absolutely certain they could never get away with such a half-assed scheme to cheat the Primaries. (This may not even be an illegal act, as per Club Rules, mind you. Besides, the software was to blame.)
But now I am certain that they will definitely get away with it.

The democratic party has been reduced to a regional party.
Hillary got her majority because she won big in NY, CA, and MA. In the remaining 47 states, Trump won by a margin of four million.
What the BS in Iowa will do is reduce turnout.
But in the end, the moneyed elites of the democratic party will survive with enough tribal loyalty to win some seats.
