The War With Iran Begins Today?

Pentagon deploys 100 Marines in Chinooks to reinforce under-siege US embassy in Baghdad after it was attacked by pro-Iran mob in retaliation for US airstrikes on Hezbollah, as President Trump warns Tehran it will be held 'fully responsible'

  • American soldiers inside the embassy have fired tear gas, stun grenades and warning shots at hundreds of fighters who broke down the compound gate and set fires within the complex on Tuesday
  • The ambassador was on leave at the time of the attack and embassy staff had already been evacuated before the US Marine guard became besieged at the compound
  • The Pentagon deployed 100 additional Marines to the embassy in Chinook helicopters in wake of attack
  • Trump has vowed to hold Tehran accountable for the embassy attack, which is in retaliation for US air strikes on the Iran-backed Kataeb Hezbollah on Sunday night
  • Those USAF strikes were themselves in retaliation for last week's killing of an American contractor in Kirkuk
  • 'Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will.' Trump tweeted on Tuesday morning. 'Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified!'
  • The embassy's security team evacuated some local staff through a rear gate while others left by helicopter as the rest remained inside 'safe' areas within the embassy, an employee said
  • Twenty people have been reported injured in the carnage by the pro-Iran Popular Mobilization Forces

Trump is blaming Iran for this. Bibi and the neocons in the Trump administration are doing all they can to get their war on with Iran and Trump is right there playing along. Any doubts on whether Trump wants to bring the troops gone should be removed by now. So far he hasn't brought any troops home even though people keep saying that he wants to end the wars. Balderdash!!

Without Evidence, Trump Accuses Iran of 'Orchestrating an Attack' on US Embassy in Iraq as Fears of War Grow

Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many," Trump tweeted. "We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified!"

Trump's tweet closely mirrored Sen. Marco Rubio's (R-Fla.) response to the embassy protests. "Iran is directly responsible for orchestrating the storming of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq and must be held accountable for it and the safety of every American serving there," tweeted Rubio, a longtime supporter of regime change in Iran.

Any member of congress who authorizes use of force on Iran should of course send their own family members of military age to die in a war for Israel and the neocons of both parties. Haven't enough people died as cannon fodder for the MICC? Yes they have.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

deploy a few snipers to fire on the crowd. If a shot or two hits US personnel, that would seal the deal. Worked like a charm in Libya, Syria and Maidan Square. Right out of the covert operations playbook.

I hold TRUMP responsible, not Tehran. He has had years to get out of there where we don't belong in the firs damn place!

So it must have been Iran.

Blaming and attacking Iran won't do anything but make it worse.

the half dozen wars you're already fighting aren't going to be enough to keep you out of prison, and one more won't do the trick either.

@WoodsDweller with a hard on for going to war with Iran. I know you know that, but I simply cannot help myself when our media wishes to lay this all on Trump - it simply is not true. This country will NOT stop until we implode from within and most likely not even then. A war with Iran should push us nicely into a full blown implosion at home and while the current narrative will blame Trump for it all, we know that's an outright LIE. And for the record, I HATE like hell to have to be seen as somehow "defending" Trump!

From CNN:

by Peter Bergen, CNN's national security analyst, a vice president at New America and a professor of practice at Arizona State University.

Trump's airstrikes are a sensible use of force

The Pentagon was careful to note in the statement it released Sunday about the US strikes on the Kataib Hezbollah targets that these actions were "defensive" in nature because they were in response to attacks on American servicemen and contractors.

Sunday's strikes in Iraq and Syria are a sensible and proportionate use of force by a commander in chief who, despite his often-hyperventilating rhetoric, has hitherto proven reluctant to get into a shooting war with Iran.

Of course, it's pesented as opinion, and of course the opinions expressed in this commentary are his own, because CNN is, of course, not a has-been POS war-mongering organ of the deep state.

But they don't care. If an American stubs his toe, it's Iran and Russia's fault.
