Friday night photos - OT

Since I don't see anything up yet and it is 9p my time (central)... I'll toss a starter up. Whilst hoping I am not stepping on any toes, crossing wires, or arcing anything.

How bout a tune... I have seen a few post Pachelbel's (Loose) Cannon here the last week or so... I have probably posted this before, but it is so great... I love the style changes.

No photos lately because it has been gloomy here for awhile. But I finally ditched the phone that gave everything a yellowish cast and hoping to see something cool soon.

What did you first see?

Awesome! This was taken by Frank Delarney.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Ah the rabbit/bird picture... The biologist in me says the skull shape is wrong for both. There seems to be a line between the ears, absent on rabbit, would be the tongue on a bird. A rabbit would show way more mouth, and whiskers. So it is a rabbit-bird.

Great clouds. And interstingly the Egret is a Great Egret. However the Great Egret is found in both new and old worlds, and the green lores indicate breeding plumage in the Euro/Afri race from the old world, and not the American Great Egret. Lores are the area between eye and bill. So presuming the pic is not photoshopped, it is from the Eastern hemisphere or old world.

Yep, we made it. Smile Have a good one! If it is real good, have one for me.

edit: described what lores are

In the Land of the Blind, the One-Eyed Man is declared mentally ill for describing colors.

Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!

@The Liberal Moonbat I love that historical cactus photo. The big xxl ray is neat too, there is one type in southeastern Asia that gets I think 6' to 8' of disk and hundreds of pounds!

thanks

@The Liberal Moonbat is all I can say about the cactus. That is as they say, an absolute unit. Shok

Not a lot to see around here lately, however a few days after I shared my cardinal another one showed up--a female! So I decided to name them the most Minnesota names: Ole and Lena. Lol

The lighting sucked--though I tweaked it as much as I dared--but Lena is the one on the ground in the front, joined by two juncos and a sparrow.

Oh and Costco has it where you can make photo books--something I'd still like to do some day, once I've collected enough good photos to make it worth while. I think it said minimum of 30 photos, for $20 or $30. Not bad!

I got my first official order as a cottage food business too--yippee!

@Daenerys

It adds mood to it.

I have done photo books through Apple when iPhoto did them. They turned out great and people enjoyed getting them for gifts.

This is still my favorite photo you took.

@snoopydawg I've got a similar photo to that one picked for the book--it's a little sharper, I think. I wonder if the herons are still nesting there. I think 50 is a good number of photos; I've got 45 now. I still wish I'd gotten a photo of that long-eared owl.

@Daenerys

This photo is a bit blurry if it's enlarged too much, but it's still good. I love the two birds in the middle. I'm going out to the bird sanctuary soon. It's going to get cold again next week but maybe after that. I won't have a clue what kind of birds I see though.The snow has melted from the rain the last few days, but Charlie was giddy about it because she could use her nose again.

@Daenerys I live too far south (29.6N - San Antonio latitude), and Juncos don't come this far in numbers anymore in winter. Like Purple Finch or Winter Wren, and others, they are not going as far south in as big numbers as historically (while sub-tropical species are moving north). We really like getting Juncos here. But we are covered in Cardinals. Our yard flock is over 30 right now and they can put away some sunflower seed. Glad you got a pair. They say it is one of the species that has moved north in winter with birdfeeding.
