Alpha's Alaska-Washington-Hawaii Primary watchers thread.
Submitted by Alphalop on Sat, 03/26/2016 - 11:43am
Hi guys!
I missed the last couple primaries on here due to a combo of personal and a family members health issues so I figured I would check and see if someone had already jumped in to fill the void while I was gone.
If not, we can do it again tonight on this thread or if someone is doing a better one just let me know and I will jump in!
Regardless of local, I look forward to watching the returns with you tonight! (Although I don't know if I will make it through to Hawaii being EST, lol!)
See you soon my C99P Peeps!

these vote totals are making me sad.

It's small counties in rural areas so the numbers won't be large
I just hope we can count on it being an overall trend when it gets to the larger ones.

And look at the bright side...
If it wasn't for Sanders maybe 5 total would have shown up in some of them.
I really do wish we would get rid of caucuses though, if for no other reason than the barrier they place on those with disabilities from taking part in the process.
"I used to vote Republican & Democrat, I also used to shit my pants. Eventually I got smart enough to stop doing both things." -Me
I know they're small counties, but still ... there
are 4000 people in that one. Turnout is looking to be less than 2% of registered voters who lean Democratic.
In November 2012, 83% (~2300 of ~2800) registered voters turned out for the GE, with about 1100 going for BHO.
if the rural turnout rates are matched by the urban turnout rates, the total number of votes cast (sanders plus clinton) will be less than the number of people who were estimated to have attended Sanders's two big rallies yesterday.

I think those are delegate votes
Over there in LieparDestin's live blog, people are illustrating how each precinct send a few delegates, proportionately assigned. No delegates if a candidate doesn't got 15%, I think. So the 19 votes are probably precinct delegates, whereas the 89.5% would be of actual precinct votes. Otherwise you can't get 89.5% of 19 votes, not without chopping people up.
Please help support caucus99percent!

it's pretty clear that those aren't precinct delegates,
because the one precinct reporting for snohomish county shows 564 total "votes". i don't think the state convention is going to have 25,000 precinct delegates attending.

Hi Alpha and Merry Pranksters...
I stickied this to the top of the page so folks will see it. I used flypaper, no flies on it though so don't worry!
Thanks!
We don't mind the flies, most of us are still numb to them after so much time at the GOS...

Hope everybody stays put in their caucuses until delegates are selected (if I'm understanding caucus process correctly!) Needs at least two counts and then del. selection.
I'm concerned about fraud here, b/c it's been ugly since Iowa, got real ugly in AZ, and I'm sure HRC's machine & backers would love to puncture some of this joy.

Not surprised--as a former Alaskan,
I can vouch for the fact that most Alaskans have a 'let and let live' attitude, and are generally very open-minded.
And most Alaskans are very independent- and equalatarian-minded, regardless of their political ideology.
Alaska definitely comes closer to a 'classless' society, than any other state/locale that we've lived in. So, not surprised that Bernie's win was a blowout.

According to early returns from King county has Clinton and Sanders are tied. This will change because of Seattle. I anticipate a wider margin for Bernie as more results come in.
I saw that too on the Guardian
The only thing that made sense to me there was that there had been two superdelegates that pledged to support, one for HRC, one for Bernie, so it was 50%-50% just with that before any caucus locations actually reported.
