Signal Wave
Kate got her procedure done this week. The dialysis port is installed. So far, so good.
She is, however, having a hell of a time in the aftermath. Many drugs do not do well for her, and she came home vomiting. That, as you can imagine, was a lot of fun given that she'd just had an operation on her abdomen. Opioides are one of the sets of drugs that cause her to vomit, so she was also trying to deal with post-operative pain on cannabis alone. Not a good thing, it turned out. Overall, she's doing OK, so cross your fingers. We need her to heal up without incident so that she can get on dialysis.
I don't have much else to say this week. My brain has been fried by this experience.
I think my brain needs a side of bacon. Maybe some hash browns.
My brain, being fried keeps playing "Boomer Sooner" on a loop. Nick is watching Oklahoma play Baylor.
How are you all today?

Thanks, QMS.
She gets the wound looked at this afternoon, so, here's hoping for the best.

Wishing Kate a speedy recovery and you a relaxing day!
All the best to you both!

Thank you very much. Anxiety is difficult to manage for me.
I do much better managing depression.
Music does help.

Been noticing weird things...
And was thinking about getting a land line again. Nope, not kidding. Forgot my cell phone and it went through the wash. Went to the Verizon store to get it replaced. Had Cash in HAND, and the guy gives me a song and a dance about the need to pay MORE than the phone is worth on a credit card, and they can't take cash in the store...
Done.
I'm done.
Seriously, I don't play these fucking games any more. My kids IEP coordinator hears a "No" from me and decides to lecture me about the need to work with her.
NO.
We're Done. Shut Up. No means No. Period. If I had pressured YOU in that manner, you'd feel free to accuse me of harassment. Doesn't even have to be sexual any more. When an administrator is lecturing a peasant, they are not a victim, period, end of case. I'm tired of hearing from every pathetic bureaucrat how they're a helpless victim of "The People" decision.
Cowardice is not appealing on any level, your grace. Yeah, I'm now referring to any bureaucrat who thinks they're a king as "Your Grace". Because there's no fucking honor there.
ANd yeah, still got THIS song running through my head. HATE the original... like the parody. Makes me smile when dealing with little jerks who think they're superior.

FYI
Yeah, we dropped the land line years ago
The surcharges were eating us up, more $ than actual phone use.
Use Straight talk now. $16/month, unlimited minutes. Which is good
as most calls are from robots anyway.

Going to go through my cable company...
It ain't a matter of wanting not to be screwed by cell phone companies. It's a matter of not wanting a cell phone. I want it OUT of my life. Gone. Totally. Finished. I have lived with one for almost ten years, and I was happier without them.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
same here
we use the cable line only for internet
old land line phone #
goes thru a box with answering machine
and portable hand sets
which is now "cell based"
still have the old phone wire going thru the house from the pole
but may use it for internal networking instead.

OMG, you're here!
You just made my day.

Yeah. I hate what's happened to social justice movements
and in particular to the charge of harassment.
It's not like it doesn't make sense--the politics we live under runs on a currency of character assassination.
But it's a major pain in the ass because it's now next to impossible to tell what's true.
On some occasions, it's obvious, as when George Takei started running for Congress and then a guy appeared out of nowhere and said Takei harassed him in the early 80s. So, it was like, really traumatic, and then you waited forty years and didn't do anything about it until he ran for Congress? Then suddenly the injustice of it all overwhelmed you? Not that I like George Takei, not politically anyway, but I doubt very much that that accusation was on the up and up.
And of course we all remember the chipper woman on Twitter who said, essentially: "Now let's do Bernie Sanders!"
But I also know that this shit does happen for real. So it makes it difficult when, say, a bunch of women come out and accuse Aaron Ehasz of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Dragon Prince fame of "sexist behavior," to figure out what's real and what's not. I know what my instincts tell me, but I'm not fool enough to trust them altogether--nor to ignore them. You know how gut feelings are.
It's a really obnoxious social construct we're living in. Got no map. Have a reasonably good compass, but it isn't infallible.

Yeah, the same thing has happened MORE than once...
Now I simply disengage whenever there's even the possibility of disagreement with somebody. Not giving them the "He was aggressive" excuse to give to the cops, or the "He said a Bad Word" which legally is actually something people can do now. (And if folks don't believe me, I bet everybody can immediately think of three statements that someone could say about you which would get police investigation on you. If you can't, you tuned out long before I did...)
We're VERY much off the map here. Trying to draw my own, but it's a LONG process and involves a LOT of work. Some days are easier than others.
Glad to talk to you! Just... can't deal with politics. I'll make fun of it, but I ain't supporting anybody.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Good morning CSTMS. Sounds like overall good news,
the port is in and soon the dialysis can begin. That is key and good and things looking up. Attendant pain, discomfort and related stresses will fade. I cn't help but wonder if natural, real opium, might be something that wouldn't cause vomiting, but no reasonable way to find out, so whatever. Hope the cannabis helps.
Heading off on a one week mini vacay real soon this morning, so see ya later.

Compazine?
Has Kate tried/is she able to try compazine? It's an older drug, technically an anti-psychotic but also effective as an anti-nausea drug, and has worked well for a lot of people I know who have difficulty with medications. I have bad reactions to maybe half the drugs I try, but took compazine for about 8 months, and it was the only thing that worked for the nausea I had at that time.
In any case, hope things get better
soonerssoonest. Not that I know of. I'll ask her.
Thanks for the tip!
They just got home from dr. Let's see what they said.

I hope the port is good to go.
Seems post-op infection is a common problem. Hope she made it past that issue.
Keep us posted about today's dr. report!
Best wishes to you and Kate.

If we can keep her away from the hospital
we have a good chance of avoiding infection.
The key to that is for her blood to clot correctly. There was a lot of seepage initially from the wound and she also passed a very large blood clot, but it seems to have slowed down and become more normal now. I would very, very much like for that to be the case, because if she bleeds too much tonight, we have to take her to the ER tomorrow. So let's all cross fingers and whatever else in hopes of avoiding that outcome.
Kate away from the hospital is much likelier to be healthy Kate.

Wow.
At least you know what the problems might be, and exactly how to address them.
