I find all the hysteric, never-ending drama surrounding Trump and his opponents repulsive, and a lethal distraction from reality.

Dem establishment offer beyond "We're not Trump"? Nothing.

Suppose the Senate did vote to convict? The Democrats' entire election plan goes out the window. They would not have enough time to set up the new candidate as the worst thing ever. They would have nothing left except running on issues.

Also, my favorite comment on that twitter thread: "Pelosi can't walk in those, sweetheart."

(I agree with that comment, both literally and metaphorically.)

@Anja Geitz

Evidently, it's okay if Democrats do it. After all, it's just Trump...

Can you imagine if Trump supporters had put something like this out?

Rachel would lead off with it and carp endlessly (in between the commercials for the luxury automobiles) for her entire "news" broadcast. The NYT and WP would have it on the front page, screaming bloody murder over it and demanding a House investigation. Former Secretary Clinton would immediately show up for an interview in order to point out the obvious Russian influence of the artist.

and that the red trailing on the ground is simply one of Trump’s signature red ties.

Between Clinton chortling over Kadafid’s death, AFTER learning of his tortured and gruesome demise, and Streisand finding “humor” in death by Stilletto, iconic Democratic women are giving the party some truly cringeworthy moments.

And it's clearly meant to look like he's mortally wounded, with a play on his signature red tie.

If it were only meant to be a tie, it would not be drawn as 10x longer than an actual tie.

they are completely unmoored from reality.

Pelosi's neoliberal bullshit does not undermine, but rather bolsters Trump's worst policies. And gender issues have nothing whatsoever to do with that fact.

as the 'Pelosi Impeachment Gambit' may be the death of the Democratic Party.

oddly, i'd read a headline recently about 'the streisand effect', but i hadn't clicked in. but technopedia describes it as:

The Streisand Effect is named for American actress and entertainer Barbra Streisand. Experts attribute the origin of the term to Streisand’s 2003 efforts to hide information about her home in Malibu, California, which included a lawsuit against the California Coastal Records Project, a grassroots project offering views of the entire California Pacific coastline. Images of the home and other information generated more publicity as a result of Streisand's attempts to hide them.

ugly fuck-me pumps, too. more nikki haley than pelosi. hey, weren't there rumors that she might challenge trump in a primary?

The real joke is the idea Pelosi will take out Trump.
Who knew just how stupid Streisand is?

as it is out of the mainstream of normal left political speech, a bit too literal and violent a depiction of seeking to destroy Trump politically. Neither clever nor funny, but not much more than that.

Hardly something to cause me to repair to my fainting couch. I had a similar reaction to comedian Kathy Gifford holding up DT's severed head -- big whoop. A not very funny idea but not the first time a comedian has missed the mark.

And this one is no more objectionable than probably many cartoon depictions of Dems by the Right. Not worse by far than the disturbing verbal calls at Trump rallies and at the GOP convention in 2016 to "lock her up"*, which had a whiff of a Nazi Nuremberg gathering. Or his tweets calling into question the loyalty and patriotism of Dems on the left who aren't lily white.

Who is the cartoonist? Who cares. It's not particularly clever or funny, so why bother finding out. Who is Barbra Streisand in 2019? Who cares -- a shopworn Hollywood liberal from yesteryear.

* apparently the State Dept long investigation is over and they concluded HRC did not commit any grievously harmful error with her email private server setup, no major govt secrets compromised etc. This conclusion probably disappointed a few here as well as Trump and his pod people. Bernie was right -- Who cares about Hillary's damn emails.

Just one more jab at people that have a different opinion than you do. Just stop! I am disappointed that so far she hasn't been held accountable for using her private email server. She broke the law and even Comey originally said that she had been grossly negligent. If it was anyone else besides her they would have been charged for it. Sydney Bluemanthal had access to her emails when he did not have security clearance to do so. This was after Obama told her to not allow him to be in her state department circle. As did many others who did not have security clearance such as Chelsea and Bill and many others from the Clinton Foundation.

Then there are the 30,000 emails that congress had subpoenaed but she decide to delete on her own. Who the hell knows what was on them? Maybe you weren't here when this site covered her email snafu and the IG report came out with its first draft that showed that her server had been hacked by a foreign government most probably China. But that wasn't the topic of the essay so I don't know why you had to put that dig in.

Bernie was right -- Who cares about Hillary's damn emails.

No Bernie was wrong to say that. Hillary used it to get away from the freedom of information act as well as for other things..

Hardly something to cause me to repair to my fainting couch

Was that what I was asking people to do? Faint on their couch? No.
Your constant jabs at people who don't support your candidate is tiresome and it's best if you knock off doing it here. If you want to support your candidate do so, but not at the expense of putting other ones down. If you have an opinion on something fine, but stop putting others down for not having the same one as yours. Your passive aggressive shtick is getting old to me.

You will probably ignore this comment like you have others that you have ignored since you keep doing what you have been. Just stop.

@Richard Steele The way to get me to dislike a candidate is for one or more of her supporters to suggest I am an idiot for not supporting said candidate.
Like Warren? Write some essays saying how great she is, wokkamile.
Convince me I am wrong, never call me out for an idiot.
And always stay on topic in some other essayist's articles.

The Liberal Moonbat's picture

1) I'm not saying there aren't many ways it couldn't be completely different, but I would abjure those attacking Barbara Streisand to be certain that what they are doing is different from that bananas Jane Fonda-ization shit they started tossing at Susan Sarandon back on DailyKos (or the Jane Fonda-ization of Jane Fonda herself, for that matter). Remember, politics must ultimately never so much about the actions of others as it is about the thoughts of the individual.

2) To me, the most suspect part about this is simply the notion of portraying Nancy Pelosi as some kind of conquering giantess. It's Nancy Pelosi, FFS; this is the kind of portrayal you give a Napoleon, or a Lincoln, or a Roosevelt - it doesn't even matter if you do think she's a good person doing her best, she's a simpering bureaucrat on the level of Cornelius Fudge, the courteously-useless New York delegate from 1776, or (at best?) The Mayor of Halloweentown ("I'm ONLY an elected official, I CAN'T make decisions by myself!"). Also, it jives very poorly with the "America's nice grandma" persona she had previously been running with.

3) All things considered, how does it rate against this old favorite of mine?:
