Polls show Kamala's support is soft

Polls show that Tulsi only had a modest gain from her debate performance.
However, Tulsi's body-slam of Harris left a big mark.

Polls since last week’s Democratic debate haven’t shown the sort of dramatic swings that we saw after Round 1 — but they do show some shifts. In particular, they show further downward movement for Kamala Harris, who had already lost much of her bounce following the first debate.

It wasn't just Tulsi's attack on Harris. People noticed when Biden questioned her health care plan as well.

Just six percent of Democratic voters said Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) has the best understanding of America's healthcare crisis.

It's still early, but Kamala's star is fading.
Nevertheless, Donna Brazile believes that Kamala can rebound.

Nevertheless, Donna Brazile believes that Kamala can rebound.

And if not, she can always install Biden in her place.

Three clowns wrote a hit piece for Politico today claiming Tulsi used inaccurate and misleading facts when she took down the camel.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

One thing is clear: No one would be talking about her if she hadn’t tried to kneecap Harris.

A. It's not clear at all. In fact it's a lie.

Sinking her is too easy, plus she can be counted on to respond in ways that help sabotage her own campaign. If the DNC is going to play games, their only hope is keeping Biden's support alive, which will also be tough.

"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."

Biden's obvious declining mental faculties a month ago in these pages. Finally some important political commenters are also beginning to notice.

I'm not sure how other D candidates go about pointing it out, as MT suggests. Seems like a very dicey matter which would need to be done very carefully, if it can be done at all. But we know that if JB were more of a true progressive in the Bernie or Tulsi mold, the MSM would be running the creeping dementia story daily.

Meanwhile, while there's a long way to go, how is it that these Biden Democrats and black Ds are not seeing what is rather obvious? Troubling situation, polling-wise, 6 months before Iowa. But then, it's 6 months until voting -- a lifetime in politics. Still hope people will wake up.

@wokkamile For the same reason they don't see Nancy Pelosi's decline. Despite the famously doctored video which made the YouTube rounds, Nancy has real word-finding and syntax problems. Plus, she occasionally thinks that George Shrub Jr. is still president.

@Alligator Ed and almost all the other D leaders in Congress are due to be put out to pasture -- well past their sellout date. Our attention for the moment however is on the 20 or so running for president.

But wake me up on Pelosi when Dems decide to put forward a legitimate challenger from her left. Earlier this year, she had no real opposition from that side.

@wokkamile

I don't think so. Not at this point in time.

I don't see anything like that happening unless a socialist president (with a critical mass of activists pushing him/her and other progressive antiwar political candidates serious about tackling climate change and bringing about M4A) is elected. And even then, it won't come easy.

that Warren totally co-opted Bernie's "that is a Republican talking point"? He said it first...regarding Trapper Jake's "won't middle class taxes be raised?" She then made some pretty good points, and shone with the already stated (by Bernie) Republican talking points.

The big differences between Warren and Sanders

Warren is nowhere near offering what Bernie is and has been for years.

@snoopydawg I was going to post that link also. He really gets to the core of why I’m not thrilled about Warren and don’t consider her much to be excited about. She is the Democrat Thomas Frank is talking about in “Listen, Liberal”. I really doubt a President Warren would change things for the vast majority of us.

as well as the one titled, Kamala is too much of a cop". Both women are trying to tell people that they are something that they are not. I can't believe any black persons who are or were involved in the black lives matter movement could possibly think of voting for Kambama, but she has a big fan club on ToP and DoV is the head cheerleader. I read what she says and just shake my head. How can they overlook her cruelty to blacks and other minorities?

@snoopydawg opinions. Harris seems to be from the Trump school of just saying whatever they think fits the situation best, regardless of if it contradicts something they said earlier. That’s in addition to her record which the more I read, the worse it gets. I’ll be interested to see if anyone decides to follow in Tulsi’s footsteps and have a crack at Harris going forward.

for two reasons:

1) her proposals on wall street and trade are damn good

2) she has intentionally avoided attacking Bernie. In fact she even looked to have his back. If she keeps that (a Big "if") then she qualifies as a fellow traveler.

This shows how far apart she is from the things Bernie is running on. Warren has done a Pelosi and admitted that she is a capitalist. Meaning that not much will change.

@longtalldrink I think there’s an effort to make Warren the acceptable substitute for Sanders. I’ve already seen the idea going around that “why not vote for a woman because they’re saying the same things anyway?” The problem is they’re not exactly working to the same ends.

I’d be real curious to see an actual debate between these two. While I appreciated the tag teaming the other night, at some point Sanders is going to need to differentiate himself or face losing all his issues to her.

(Not like I think the DNC would risk it with Warren anyway. She’s still too close to left for their comfort.)

It has to happen.
But there is no rush to make this happen.
Let's see Mayor Pete, Harris and Beto get shown the door first.

@gjohnsit Pete and O’Rorke seem to be doing nothing more that sucking up oxygen, along with a dozen others. I hope Gabbard can stick around to stick it to Harris a little more, but I’ll be shocked if she’s not removed one way or another.

@Dr. John Carpenter that over samples oldsters in IA and non-polling in NH, where she has a stronger base of support, seem to be doing an effective job of keeping her out of the next debate. The latest trend is not favorable for her chances for the Sept debate.

I never expected her to win the nom. But I might have expected she would be in the game beyond August.

@Dr. John Carpenter after a push from the DNC. Briefly, she will not buck the Dem party but she will not campaign for the Evil Queen, who will descend, god-like from the sky to save the DemonRat Partei. Tulsi will be "unavailable for comment" until after the election. She might not even put in some knocks against Trump--because that would help the despicable, predictable Hillary Rodent Clinton.

I think there’s an effort to make Warren the acceptable substitute for Sanders.

It looks to me like the Party has said, "OK, if we have to go left, Warren is as far left as we'll go. Anybody but Sanders."
The AZ Party is using her photo in some of their fundraising emails and, more tellingly, Tucson progressive icon Raúl Grijalva is endorsing her. He was all in for Bernie last time around.

Her job is to screw over Bernie. Otherwise, she'd drop out, Bernie would cut a VP deal with her, and voila, they'd be able to easily beat Biden.

Why not????? I doubt that she would agree to be on a Bernie ticket, though.

And Biden isn't as despised as HerHeinous, so I'm not so sure he couldn't beat Trump. I doubt he could win but I wouldn't bet on it. I was very lucky bet wise in November 2016.
