Kevin Bacon, who is linked to Putin, is also linked to Bill and Hillary, who are both linked to Putin, Trump, who is Linked to Putin, Comer, who is linked to Putin, Bill Gates and George Soros, who are linked to Putin, and oh sooo many others, like, DiFi, for example, who is also linked to Putin. "For Realz?" You may ask. Yep, 'cause ...

OK, the Bacon number, like the Erdos number, are special cases of the idea of Six Degrees of Separation set out by Frigyes Karinthy in 1929 . I am for sure linked to Putin, though, as of yet, I don't know how. But, that matters not, I, like Trump and the Clintons alike are guilty of some je ne sais quoi by association, to wit:

and, some additional and different info and science --

So, comrades, come let us forget our respective Putin numbers and see what else befell the world on this day.

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

In 1663 the Rhode Island Royal Charter was granted by King Charles II. The white washed version from wiki --

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhode_Island_Royal_Charter

-- reads like a typical manifest destiny proclamation from god and the crown. Gingerly stepping around native rights.

...and are seized and possessed, by purchase and consent of the said natives, to their full content, of such lands, islands, rivers, harbors and roads, as are very convenient...

...the great body of the Narragansett Indians, given them encouragement of their own accord, to subject themselves, their people and lands, unto us...

Gave the natives so much encouragement they disappeared.

Bacon, you say? I love my bacon! Trader Joes has a new bacon. It has no sugar and less sodium. While I was stocking the new bacon on the shelves the other day, I noticed a blurb on the package reminding customers that even though it had no sugar and less sodium, it was NOT a low calorie food. It is just me, or does it seems a bit ludicrous that the public needs to be reminded that BACON is not a low calorie food?

Soapy Smith, eh? What a great name. I wonder if Soupy Sales thought it was a great name too?

Movin' Out by Johnnie Johnson and Trio, featuring Chuck Berry and his guitar. I have to say, that is some mighty fine piano playing in the opening of that song. Berry on the guitar ain't bad either. I see the band was playing on New Years Eve, I wonder which one? Must've been a pretty hoppin place that night! I also know a song by the same title with some pretty good guitar playing. Used to play it in my room as a teenager on a turntable my mother bought me at J.C. penny's.

has been done selling "reduced sugar" and "sugar free" stuff as per se dietary prompted somebody with a conscience to make sure that nobody would blithely assume that the product was "diet bacon" or equivalent. Many USians don't really think, but simply react to implanted triggers, ya know.

In that way. So this is the reality of where our food supply has devolved? When we need to be reminded that the bacon we are eating has not been scientifically altered.

Is it any wonder that France and Italy, to name a few, have resisted the "Americanization" of their food supply?

Original lyrics:

In a lonesome prison cell in darkest Russia
There’s a flier, Francis Powers is his name
He was captured on a mission for his country
And he’ll never see Old Glory wave again.

Chorus: When the clouds are hangin’ high above the Kremlin
And the moonbeams many happy memories bring
There’s a Star Spangled Banner waving somewhere
That’s the song the Russian jailers hear him sing.

In a lonesome prison cell in godless Russia
Where no Bible ever speaks His precious name
There’s the boy who flew the U2 for his country
To make sure that no Pearl Harbor comes again.

Chorus

Essay list, intended to be from election night, November, 2016. As of right now, the relative page number “440” in the link gets you to around the time election returns began coming in.

(After today, as new essays push older essays out of lower numbered pages onto higher numbered ones, this relative page number will become increasingly “off” and the linked-to essay list will be for a later and later time window.)

Welcome home. Hope you saw a lot of wildlife and perhaps will post some pictures. Here the red shouldered hawks have moved on from the wildlife preserve. I hear them far away. And the crows, I here them talking all over the town from great distances as I sit and listen. I liken them to sentinels. There is one that sits atop the telephone pole at the end of my drive. The crow family is still here in the preserve but their baby is bigger now and they wander farther afield but come to sit in the sun at the end of the day. I would like to know much more about them. (I became friends with the Ravens in Canada and I still miss them.) The crows at least know me now, but are wary. I would be too if I knew me. huh? Something like that. I have not seen any peregrines but assume they are around. Someone is eating the band tailed pigeons, about one a week. But they are thriving in spite and pigs. Such big eaters I have never seen. The other birds seem to be able to work around them. It's all about food. What's for dinner? Have a good one...

@magiamma
pics. Local birds theoretically capable of picking off a band tailed pigeon by increasing size and prowess:

Merlin - feisty smaller falcoln
Sharp shinned Hawk - smallest accipter
Cooper's hawk - larger accipiter and probable culprit
Red Shouldered Hawk - could easily do the job, but birds are not its preferred prey and prefers to hunt open spaces instead of groves, copses and the like.

Crows have a lot in common with ravens behaviorally, hence the two seldom share habitat, but will often stake out territories that are adjacent or separated by a minimal buffer.

Have a good one and thanks for reading.

and peregrines here and peregrines are not in our grove. Red shoulders raised their family at the other end the last three springs. Crows at my end. Maybe it's the peregrines.
