In Honor of My Being Called A Lunatic

Isn't everybody a little crazy?

And for good measure, here's one in honor of my being called a Bolshevik Loon:

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
To be fair...
I called you a raving lunatic. I challenge you to reread the comment I responded to and tell me why I was wrong. Do you ever read your comments before you publish them. Do you fashion yourself as a cutting edge guerilla activist brandishing agitprop to set we ignorant non-believers straight, meant to shock us all into seeing your light? Because that's how you come off. Your anger is taking over your whole being and it shows.
I've given you many chances, many more than most that have been shown the door had gotten. Folks have been bounced out of here for far less than what you get away with.
But as I said, I'm tired of reading it and I'm running out of patience and warnings.
This piece does not help your case, my friend. Take heed.
His postings are relentlessly negative. I won't miss him.

No, I don't fashion myself a guerrilla activist.
This next dog and pony show we call the 2020 election won't be any different. Just like spending another 3 years in a classroom won't lead to a job no matter how much brown-nosing or hard work I do. But for some reason, everybody insists the insanity has to continue, be it elections or employment (or lack thereof).
I'll apologize to you for going about it the wrong way and being a jackass about it, for what it's worth.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
A little crazy is what we are all here
Trying to find ways of bringing that crazy into a positive light may be more effective than shouting to the clouds about our deficiencies. It is difficult to share your hurt and anger at times. Your in-depth knowledge of alternatives is enlightening as well.
Perhaps we can share in a way that is less harsh.
I respectfully disagree, I don't think I am a little crazy /nt

I'm truly sorry...
that everyone doesn't see things your way, most folks feel that very same frustration, but few express it through pure anger.
You may feel this election is an exercise in futility, a "dog and pony show", but many don't see it that way and they're entitled to their opinion, as you are, without being bludgeoned with your anger, over and over, thread after thread.
I know you're smart enough to make your case without the vitriol.
Tolerance is your friend. Anger will eat you alive.
Reminds me of this

My mantra...
from The Beginning by The Moody Blues:
There you go man, keep as cool as you can.
Face piles
Of trials
With smiles.
It riles them to believe
That you perceive
The web they weave
And keep on thinking free.
You asked the Aspie Corner . . .
How we deal w people we don’t agree w often says more about us
then it does about them.
This goes for both sides of the equation.
What we see in another often times is a deeper mirror of our own selves.
You got it
Reflection and Absorption in a heathy mix.
Just who called you a lunatic?
I see you as moderately sane.
And I aint no mod.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Aspie. Cool it.
A former lawyer who shared an office with me for a year or so, suffered from Asperger's Syndrome. He had absolutely no social skills, would fall asleep during a client interview. He handled trials fairly well, but his greatness was research and writing.
And then, magic.
He got a job with some foundation that does appeals for death row inmates. He does not meet with people. Does not appear in court. All he does is write, research, and huddle in his office, and he makes really good money doing it. Really good money.
He saves lives.
He is a genius, he is so kind, and he found his place in this world. He just cannot deal with people.
Find your place.

What are you saying, A.C. can't handle people because
When your ass is on the line...
as the owner of this site, then you can tell me about your righteous anger.
I said I thought he was
I can't believe you wrote what you did. Of all people.
I know you are angry and so am I, but are you going to be the one who shoots at me for disagreeing with you, or the reverse?
10 paces or sniper?
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Nah, my bad otc.
Did you see the comment JtC called him on?
This went beyond righteous anger and on any other site it would have been way over the line and the person would be gone.
Most of us are righteously pissed off at what's happening to us here and to people we are killing for no reason. The anti war movement went away during Obama's tenure because people put blinders over their eyes. I've done what I could do get them to take them off.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

Check this out A.C.
"Those people who are online, making fun of members of Congress, are a disgrace and there is no need for anyone to think that is unacceptable," Wilson said. "We're going to shut them down and work with whoever it is to shut them down, and they should be prosecuted."
"You can not intimidate members of Congress, threaten members of Congress. It is against the law in this United States of America," she said."

I see what you did...
you mean making fun of them like this comment?
Yeah, website owners just love to see jocularity of that caliber.
Meanwhile, ten people rec'd it.
Al...
when the alphabets come to think this guy is a loose cannon and is about to go off who are they going to come to first? You think I want to go through that because " It's not an uncommon sentiment." Phffttt.
Some folks take advantage of the rules here, just in case you think I haven't noticed that.
OK, I think I know what you're saying.
In Germany, a Christian Democrat politician was murdered
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=L%FCbcke+murder
https://www.dw.com/en/walter-l%C3%BCbcke-murder-raises-specter-of-neo-na...
. . . so now all militant-sounding anti-establishment rhetoric, online or off, is under intensified scrutiny and pressure.
Right now, many see the murder as reason enough to tar all right-wing populists as neo-Nazi — but any crackdown, initially directed at the Right, could just as easily be used to stifle dissent from the Left or indeed from any other political or philosophical direction.
The Left died in 1968
Meanwhile, the right has seen very little crackdown if any because they don't oppose the power structure, no matter what the media says. Considering Trump and his boys are rooting for the Neo-Nazis both here and abroad, there won't be much of a crackdown, if any. If nothing else, the Neo-Nazis and other right-wing groups will just become the shocktroops of the current iteration of the American Liberty League.
Either way, the Global Capitalist Politboro that meets at Davos every year has already declared 99% of the human population to be "Useless Eaters", anyway. When or if people will figure that out is anyone's guess at this point.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
this seems to be a hijacking of a thread
I do not see any connection to what has been discussed between Big Al, AC and JtC.
And yes, it is the right-wing haters who destroy and divide the country. Let's not pretend as if the lefties in Germany are a threat in Germany the way the right-wing neo-nazis have become to be. Right-wing populism a la AfD are smoothtalkers to fascism, imo.
Whom do you want to bamboozle? I feel ashamed.
https://www.euronews.com/live
??? I thought the connection was obvious.
The common element is rhetoric that some people “deserve execution.”
Stephan E., the suspect in the Lübcke murder case, is said to have been swept along by right-wing talk calling pro-open-border politicians “traitors,” suggesting that they are people who “deserve execution.”
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=l%FCbcke+stephan+threatening+traitor
In the current polarized atmosphere, forums and websites like c99, and their maintainers, like JtC, can be and have been attacked and shut down for allowing rhetoric that allegedly promotes so-called “stochastic terrorism” . . .
you are right, I just can't
follow thoughts anymore properly.
Need a break for a long time.

Thanks Big Al. /nt
I understand
I understand your anger and frustration. Outside of this website, it seems like most people are just fine with how things are going. When someone brings that madness from the outside to this website, it feels like there's nowhere left to go and you have to defend one of the few places where people actually care about what's going on.
It seems some people just like to see how many buttons they can push before something blows up. They win when someone blows up and gets banned for it. Don't let them win. I value your contributions much more than a button pushers.
AC is a button pusher, imho. /nt

You know ...
I probably delete as many posts as I release. I review each one before releasing it not only for spelling and grammar (and even then there's always one mistake I don't catch) but for potential misunderstanding. Humour is particularly problematic in a time delayed textual format (comedy is all about timing, after all) and easily taken the wrong way.
As much as it seems we are having a casual, sometimes heated, conversation among friends, there are always 100 lurkers for every poster, and you should assume that everything posted gets recorded, somewhere. Your choice of words may be a match for someone's search algorithm.
If your comment or drunken party photos aren't something you want to defend at a job interview or court proceeding 20 years hence, that might be one of the posts you keep to yourself.
This is the self-censorship effect of a surveillance society, and we definitely have one of those. JtC correctly explains his exposure to what is allowed to be posted here. Have a little respect for the man and the work he does in maintaining this site for us all to enjoy.
If I ran the world, things would be different. But I don't, and it ain't.
"The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function." -- Albert Bartlett
"A species that is hurtling toward extinction has no business promoting slow incremental change." -- Caitlin Johnstone
I was considered persona-non-grata
We've had a surveillance society since long before technology reared its head. What do you think the purpose of the church was? Do you really think the clergy really believes the lies they tell their flock? Hell no. Today's clergy are just remnants of ancient surveillance techniques still in use today.
The only way we'd even become a blip on the radar is if we become large enough to challenge the capitalist power structure, and trust me, we're not even a speck of dust on said radar. We don't have anything even remotely important enough for capitalist concern.
You want me to tone it down? Gladly. All I ask is that we be honest about the farce the US Empire and its practices are.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
You are throwing the baby into the bathwater
I think you have lost sight of the reason JtC called you out in the first place. You went on a rant and then personally attacked a member of the site which is against all rules.
I understand that you got dealt rotten luck and you have been doing everything you can to change that only to be met with more roadblocks. I applaud you for your continuing fight against the system. But you aren't the only one going through sh*t here. I am day to day on being thrown out of my house and on to the streets with nowhere to go and I am stressed to the max. Yet I do my best to not personally attack anyone here and lately I have been way to tempted to do so.
How about you just own up to the comment that was out of line and go from there? Your voice is valuable here and I would hate to see you gone. My $.05
BTW folks if I disappear suddenly you'll know I lost the battle.....
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
Yes snoopy...
It appears some users here have their own personal agenda and they're going to push and exploit it come hell or high water. Every post becomes a platform to espouse said agenda. After the first hundred iterations it gets quite annoying.
Here's hoping things work out for you.
Thank you WoodsDweller...
as I stated above I firmly think that a few users take advantage of our open discussion policy by pushing the limits of civility.
Not allowing death threats and wishing people executed should be a no brainer. I can't believe anyone would even think about defending that kind of language. I certainly don't want to be visited by the alphabets because of it.
Our one basic rule is about civility on this board. Sure civility is a subjective concept but who is the arbiter of what is and isn't civil discourse? Who should decide that? Shall we devolve into a 4chan or ZeroHedge type discussion board or set ourselves apart from that? Setting ourselves apart has been what the founders of this board envisioned from it's inception. Thus the DBAA civility rule. Civility was the original basis of this site. That concept has been so lost with the advent of the internet that folks now think incivility is the norm.
I ask anyone who wants to write like a 12 year old trying to impress their peers: would you talk like that to people face to face?
But JtC, "my criticisms", "my anger", "my censorship", "my free speech". If you can't accept our one basic rule about civility then I don't know what to tell you. Please show some respect.
Sorry WoodsDweller, this rant wasn't directed at you, it was a good time to get it all out there.
I think half the people who post here are lunatics.
There's a difference between posting stuff I think is kooky, or delusional, or just sadly wrong, versus posting the same spew of raging deranged obscenities and adolescent monikers in response to ... well, in response to pretty much anything and everything on the site.
Nobody here blames you for being angry. Hell, we're all angry, often about the same things, most with less cause than yourself. But at some point, one becomes the person that everybody avoids because it's just too exhausting and disruptive to accommodate the predictable, one-note rant that answers every attempt to have a conversation about the matters that concern us all. Can you not exercise some small bit of self-restraint out of simple respect for the other people here, who have on the whole welcomed you into this community?
The earth is a multibillion-year-old sphere.
The Nazis killed millions of Jews.
On 9/11/01 a Boeing 757 (AA77) flew into the Pentagon.
AGCC is happening.
If you cannot accept these facts, I cannot fake an interest in any of your opinions.
As Archie Bunker would say
Hey! I resemble that statement!
Obviously no one agrees with you...
and the lack of recs on your comment proves that you do not resemble that statement.
that's the one people usually quote, but i believe
that at least once he said, "I represent that remark", which is a much better malapropism.
also, i'm about to rec your comment, rendering JtC's response null and void.

if we can't promote peace among ourselves...
...how can we promote peace in the world?
Disagreement is part of the nature of discussion, but attacking people because they think differently is damaging....especially if you focus on the person rather than the idea.
I understand we're not gonna sing Kumbaya, but we can make our points with mutual respect and tolerance. I'm sorry Aspie has had a difficult path, and at the risk of sounding trite, learning to think in the positive has a way of pointing our path toward better outcomes. If you don't believe you can have a better life...you won't. Now saving the world from capitalism is too big a goal, but having a rewarding life isn't!
There is power in positive thinking, and though there's too much faith in religion in this pamphlet there are many worthwhile ideas...
http://www.thinkpositive.net/Books/Power%20Of%20Positive%20Thinking.pdf
...and Dale Carnegie's approach is similar...
https://medium.com/@antoniomartina/dale-carnegies-positive-thinking-habi...
Aspie I wish you the best, and hope you can focus on creating a great life for yourself. If you feel school is a waste it will be. If you think you can't get a decent job, you'll be right. But turn that on it's head. If you believe you can find rewarding work you can. Make a plan. Seek out people and work places you think are optimal and culture relationships with those people. Do so digitally if you can't get there physically. Be flexible enough to consider relocation, changing fields, learning a trade, and so on.
Focusing on the overthrow of capitalism is a worthy goal, but a guaranteed exercise in frustration. Focusing a a rewarding work situation is an achievable goal. Good luck!
