Love the seeds of freedom; good mood for today. When i hear the phrase "Be Ready," i'm reminded of the good advice Dame Judi Dench shared in class, as an actor one must always "Be ready."

Hope you've plans for a good week and weather treats you and Texas kindly.

And everyone

Busy day today. Politics. Yipes. Two local meetings this morning. Rushing. More later.

The heatwave, they say is shades of times to come. No pun intended. 10 years to go. Wheeeee...

Have a good one

Thanks for the pictures. Great one of the dog. Is it yours?

I worked in the garden this morning planting my little olive tree and re-arranging the rabbits, piglets, gnome and sleeping cat statues while my cat Pierre watched me through the window. I set up a spot for her so she could watch me while still having to wear her cone. I keep reminding myself she'll feel better soon.

Hope everyone has a good day.

that you've fixed for Pierre. She's looks very content. Hope she's feeling better, now.

We did something very similar for Murphee. When she lost her vision (overnight), her balance was off. She was the dog who rode shotgun (with me). Mister B always sat in the back seat, leaning forward on the console, since that was the natural 'pecking order.'

Anyhoo, to make things more pleasant for her, I filled in all the space around the front passenger seat with quilts, blankets, etc., so that it made a large car bed for her. She loved it. Funny, what we can think of, when our precious furbabies need some extra TLC!

Pleasantry

Take care.

The both of us are adjusting. I was pleased that she seemed to take to her new spot and the other cats didn't try to take it. When I left for work today, she was sleeping in her spot by the window.

Went to PetSmart yesterday and got her a harness and leash. Will try it out tomorrow in the garden. Fingers crossed that she takes to that as all.

Thanks for your encouragent and sharing your stories. I've had to get rid of a lot of brick a brac on the counters and tables bc she is no longer agile and quick footed. The cone makes her clumsy and she knocks things over. I came home from work last light and the table lamp was on the floor.

and comforting for me, to have an occasion to speak of Murphee.

Although we lost her 7 years ago, we still miss her. She was one of the most mellow, sweet, and smart dogs we've ever had. Since she came from a County Shelter, we never knew her exact age. The estimate was that she was about 9 months old, when we adopted her. So, she lived to be about 14 years old.

At the time, I was a shelter volunteer. We had two geriatric dogs, and, absolutely no intention of adopting another one. Mr M (gifted at drafting and calligraphy) made posters to advertise her [for the shelter]. And, I often took Polaroid photos of pets, for the posters. Anyhoo, I feel in love with her. Then, got Mr M to visit with her, and he agreed--she was destined to be 'our Girl.'

Smile

Hope you and Pierre have a lovely day in the Garden. Let us know how the new harness and leash work out.

Know how clumsy those Elizabethan Collars are--several of our dogs had to wear one, at one time, or the other. Of course, they couldn't (or didn't) jump on tables, like a cat often does. But, they ran into stuff, and, sometimes, got stuck, and needed to be rescued.

Hey, luv the beautiful photo of the dog--not certain if that's a setter, or pointer, but, he's 'purdy.' Smile

Maybe he's just gone the next town over for Mexican!

I hope so.

Springer?

I'm so accustomed to my own Springers' patterns--both had a wide white blaze--that I thought the dog was a setter, or, maybe, a wirehaired/longhaired Pointer.

The large breed, i guess from searching. I copied the photo from an article Animals do have memories in Aeon magazine https://aeon.co/ideas/animals-do-have-memories-and-can-help-us-crack-alz...

Reminds me of the bird dogs of my youth on the farm and how brilliant they were, especially when teaching the younger dogs to point and stay still.

The pensive look of this older dog and its regal position tells us wonders about ... many things, doesn't it?

Please see my whitecoat update below.

Hope you three have a wonderful forth of July and week and that it's not too hot temperature wise.

My kitten update: I laid a hand on Lucky (gender to be determined later). Very tiny, very frail. Appears to have been injured. Possibly by a dog? Some trap? All wounds are on the legs, and they are all scabbed over. No open wounds that I can see.
Lucky eats the kitten food, but stays out of sight during rain and thunder. I haven't seen Lucky at all today. It has been raining and storming almost daily for a couple of weeks.
I will take the kitten to the vet as soon as I can.
It is a process.

First, i must praise the wonderful team at UNC's Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic (only one in the Southeast); in all my troubles including other great healthcare centers, this team stands out for ease, comfort, care, testing and so on, great scientists.

Friday's results are not all in; but i can share this: lead specialist is changing up a hypertension drug i began three months ago because of complications with my eyes; new drug ordered, we'll see how i tolerate it; she ordered a sleep study to see how oxygen goes through the night, refereed me to two of her colleagues, specialists in interstitial lung disease in hopes of ferreting out the root cause for the mystery as to why i have it along with pulmonary hypertension, brocheactisis and copd and scheduled me for more tests.

Had a consult with my new cardiologist, a colleague she also recommended as he's in the same clinic; he is a lovely young man, a musician before entering heart medicine,
saying that reading an electrocardiogram spreadsheet was like reading a musical score to him. I was impressed with how thoroughly he had reviewed all the significant records and tests of my troubles. To the point, he's concerned that my, as he said, strong heart muscle may be putting to much pressure on my new aortic valve and ordered more heart tests to take another look. He said he may change heart medicine to slow my heart down a little. Not sure about this as my normal blood pressure has been like an athlete since open heart surgery; this is the really complex part to understand. Tests scheduled six weeks away.

Orientation for three months of pulmonary rehab is set for next Friday in a wonderfully situated new mountain center about 26 miles away.

Thank god for medicare and plan f subsidy. I do have concern that my co-pay for the new drug for hypertension isn't sky high.

A fruitful trip all-in-all. Too hot in Chapel Hill for my taste, now, and i loathe the three hour, bumper to bumper, multiple lanes of traffic at 80 miles-per-hour crossing the Piedmont region of NC.

Special shout out to you all for being concerned; lifts my spirits, thank you all.
