The Interior of a Poppy

I think I discovered why the first people who looked inside this flower imagined it might possess mind-altering qualities.

I saw this today on a stroll down my sister's street in Seattle. I'm amazed at the explosion of flowers here at the moment.

I've lived here in Seattle pretty much my whole life. If you spend any time at all here, you can't miss the other, unfortunate side of the poppy; all the junkies, basically everywhere.
It's a microcosm of dystopian capitalist inequality. My city has basically been overrun by assholes (from both sides of the wealth divide), present company excluded.... I wan't to move rural very badly, my high rent makes saving next to impossible, I'm currently pinned down economically, surely there must be some relief.....just kidding... enjoy your stay Smile

@BORG_US_BORG

I’ve been to Seattle many times over the almost 40 years my sister has lived here. I’ve observed the change from what seemed like quite a provincial city to a much more crowded impersonal one. The ride from the airport to my sister’s was a shocking experience. We drove by multitudes of homeless people living raw or in tents next to the motorway and under the bridges. My sister said that it’s even worse in other parts and very widespread across the city.

I’m not suggesting the poppy, but I do hope you find the relief you’d like ; ).

Hijacked your photo thread last friday, a few of us played with word pictures. It was fun. Enjoy the family!

@QMS

for your warm welcome and your word pictures, which I always find so special.

I saw and appreciate your covering the image category last Friday. Guest speakers are always welcome and add spice.

see you back.

Was sorta concerned, when you didn't show up for the Photography Thread (last time I looked, that is).

Hope you had a nice visit with Family.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

Sorry for your concern, but thank you for thinking of me. I was on my way to seattle from auckland last friday. I've just started a 3 month long visit with family. From here I go to Florida to spend the majority of the time with my mom, where my brother also now lives. I'll also see my daughter, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Don't worry if you don't see me this friday either. I will be out of range. Be well you three.

thought you were on your way back to NZ.

Wonderful that you're able to see so many family members. Didn't know, but thought daughter was in NZ. But, did remember that your Mom lives in Florida. Nice that your Brother's close by.

Boy, what timing! Biggrin We're experiencing sweltering temps today, and we're in our northern-most locale (which is Mid-South) - not on the Gulf Coast, although we're headed that way after the Fourth of July weekend.

Hoping to have a photo of Kaity to post when you're back in the saddle at the Friday OT. Could be wrong, but, she may not be quite as big (when she's full grown) as we've been expecting. We'll find out soon enough, I suppose.

Have fun, and stay safe!

I'm glad I brought some wool clothing.

I'm happy to be where my family is for this extended time. My daughter was in NZ until 9 months ago, and will be living overseas for 2 years before she returns to NZ. I miss her very much. If I wasn't gone for these months every year I'd have a dog!

See you again soon, Mollie .

It draws you in. Well composed and exposed.

Welcome back to the insane asylum. Enjoy your stay. If you're in the San Diego area while you're here in the states let me know. Maybe we can meet up somewhere and take pictures.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

I imagine that after our distant ancestors first ate some of these, their initial reaction was that this berry was not fit for dessert. But, after a few minutes, dinner was the last thing on their minds.
