As the MSM keeps ignoring Tulsi, now the WSJ notices?

A Hawaii Democrat’s Surprising Views

I think, their paywall allows access to the editoria/opinion page. But to be safe I will not include the whole article so as not to violate "the rules"

Of all the Democratic presidential candidates, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard may most defy easy categorization. She fuses appeals to national honor—drawn from her Army service in Iraq—with resolutely left-wing policy prescriptions, especially on foreign affairs. Yet she appears frequently on Fox News, has earned plaudits from Republican colleagues, and staunchly opposes impeachment proceedings against President Trump, which she warns would “tear the country apart.”

snip

“The whole reason the Mueller investigation started was to investigate collusion,” she said in an interview between recent campaign stops in Manhattan. The special counsel “was very clear in his report that there was no evidence found that collusion took place.” But she is at pains to distinguish her reasoning from that of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose reticence about impeachment, Ms. Gabbard says, is rooted in partisan calculation: “That’s exactly what people are sick and tired of.”

snip

Ms. Gabbard, who represents Hawaii’s Second District, also doesn’t belabor her sex, her ethnic background (Samoan) or her religion (Hindu). “I think identity politics, again, is one of those things that is unfortunately being used to divide us. . . . [it’s] a dangerous road to walk down,” Ms. Gabbard told me in a podcast interview, lamenting fellow Democrats and the media for often treating Americans “as though we are the sum of the color of our skin.”

Since she launched her campaign in January, liberal media outlets have scorned her. NBC News published an article alleging that she had the backing of “Russia’s propaganda machine.” The Daily Beast charged that she was being “boosted by Putin apologists.” (Hey DKos, FU.)

But she’s found support from a popular alternative-media figure, Joe Rogan, who has hosted Ms. Gabbard twice on his video and audio podcast—consistently a top-ranked offering on YouTube and iTunes. Like Ms. Gabbard, Mr. Rogan is politically heterodox. He’s endorsed libertarian Republican Ron Paul, shuns ideological labels, and has a following among right-leaning listeners.

snip

Perhaps because of her reliance on alternative media, Ms. Gabbard is unusually sympathetic to conservatives who complain of social-media censorship. Asked about YouTube’s penalization of right-wing personality Steven Crowder, Ms. Gabbard says: “I think it points to the dangerous level of power that these platforms have, and how they can seemingly arbitrarily make their own rules, and make decisions about what kind of free speech is acceptable.” It amounts to a kind of monopoly, she argues: “If you get cut out from YouTube, there’s nowhere else you’re going to be able to go.”

Mr. Rogan’s support has paid off. “There were people there today who said they were there because they saw me on Joe Rogan,” Ms. Gabbard says of her New York stops. “There are a lot of folks who are not typical Democratic primary voters who are now going to be Democratic primary voters.”

It takes the fng WSJ to put her story out.

All the Dem Primary voters regulary read the WSJ? Oh, the pain....

OT. Meanwhile, the NYT is telling us we're fucking with Russia's power grid, cause Journalism. Isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't we not tell them we're doing it? Trump is not a tool of Putin? Trump is a tool and still fucking with Putin? I am so confused, which is it? I guess you have to be from NYC to understand it all...

Sigh

@mimi @mimi @mimi Unless you are on a strict diet of nothing. If you read only the NYT, your brain would soom be occupied with nothingness. Ah, what peace! What tranquility! What utter stupidity. I hope you took my advice and did not eat your sister.

He is an independent journalist who worked on TYT for while acting as a balance to Cenk and Ana. Michael Tracey has written for a wide range of publications, both conservative and liberal. He is a supporter of Tulsi Gabbard and has done two interviews with her, the first being in New Hampshire a while back. That podcast interview is one of the interviews that I often refer people to because it covers a lot of subjects.

Michael Tracey is one of the leading Russiagate debunkers along with other rational thinking journalists like Aaron Mate. I follow him on Twitter and on YouTube.

While I am surprised that the Wall Street Journal published Tracey's article, he did say that it had to be edited down considerably for space reasons. But to their credit, at least they published it.

@gulfgal98 I just love Tulsi the more! Go, Tulsi. She has guts and doesn't buckle under pressure--unlike flipping and flopping China Joe Biden.

This is really encouraging and just the kind of progress for her message that I hope will continue. I wouldn't have read it if you hadn't posted it here.

@Linda Wood

is for her to not kowtow to the "moderators" of the debate and blow Warren out of the water -- interrupt, demand time, tell DeBlasio he is too tall to be President!!

That's kinda aggressive of me, but so be it.

@EdMass

why she didn't support Bernie since their platforms are basically the same? I'd love to see how Liz answers that!

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.

@snoopydawg @snoopydawg Cowardly Pocahontas will dissemble as fast as Hillary Clinton on emails. May I politely say (which would surprise some here) that Liz is is a fraud with her Native American masquerade ongoing 30+ years.

Tulsi will not kowtow to anyone. She will blow Madcow out of the water--and the rest of the Democrats on the debate stage.

Naturally, Tulsi will get the 2016 style Bernie treatment: ignore until she gets too popular, then smear. I can see it now, the anti-Hindu rhetoric coming along with a thick painting of Islamophobic coloring.

@EdMass as the Dem's version of pound-the-podium, point-the-finger and name-call Donald Trump.

I don't think so.

First debate is to introduce herself to a large audience. First impressions time for many people. She's likely to calmly stick to her issues and not attack, not that attacking other Ds directly, by name, is much in her DNA or very smart politics at this stage.

And I also strongly doubt she will be re-litigating the last election and getting into the weeds, boring her audience no end, with charges about so and so not endorsing Sanders in 2016. That is Inside Baseball tedium and of no interest to most primary voters. The election is over, by nearly 3 yrs. Time to give it a rest, move on and deal with the hand we're dealt today.

And no, not in a thousand years will the Dem PTBs attempt to save the day by arranging to select a 2-time loser in Herwhatever. If they do, she will become a 3-time loser, only worse next time, and it will be the end of the party.

we have things in common with our so called "enemies". It's the candidates that touch our commonality that are so dangerous to the "with us, against us" divider parties.

@Snode We the people have far more in common with one another than we have differences. That is why the candidacies of Bernie and Tulsi frighten the powers that be so much.

i am currently following a guy on YouTube who supported Trump in the last election and is now behind Tulsi Gabbard. I firmly believe that there are a lot more people out there like him who want us out of all these wars and want more investment in our people here at home. That is our commonality. I saw it first hand during our years with the Peace vigil. Many self described conservatives told us the same thing.

The key is for us NOT to allow the oligarchy to continue to divide us against one another, despite our differences. That is how the oligarchy has been able to maintain control.
