MSNBC: Markos is "breathtakingly stupid"

I know that this is beating a dead horse, but to my defense of this essay...Schadenfreude.

How often do you see an entire TV news panel absolutely slam dunking their own guest?

But more importantly, they are probably right. It isn't that Markos sold out. He probably got nothing for screwing his blog. He's just "breathtakingly stupid".

Update: Markos has been an asshole for a long time. Here he is smearing Kucinich.

Appearing on MSNBC's "Countdown," DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas was asked by guest host Lawrence O'Donnell about Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich's opposition to President Obama's reform proposal. Moulitsas didn't take it easy on Kucinich in his response.

"[I]t's definitely a very Ralph Nader-esque approach, I think, to politics -- a very unrealistic and self-defeating approach," Moulitsas said.

"And I'm going to hold people, like Dennis Kucinich, responsible for the 40,000 Americans that die each year from a lack of health care. And I don't care if you're a Republican or you're a conservative Democrat or you're somebody like Dennis Kucinich. The fact is, this does a heck of a lot for a lot of people ... It's not the ideal solution. But we have our foot in the door, and if somebody like Kucinich wants to block that, I find that completely reprehensible."

Later, pressed by O'Donnell, Moulitsas said he'd support the idea of a primary challenge against Kucinich if the congressman continues his opposition to the legislation.
...Moulitsas argues that the congressman hasn't accomplished anything at all, and -- though I know I'm going to get slammed for saying this -- I have to agree.

@Bollox Ref I never understood why people thought he was so smart. He could not write worth a toot and in live interviews always came off as someone who never could think on his feet, like, say Glenn Greenwald.

In the end, Markos is the poster boy for those whom he represents, a party devoid of ideas and hell bent on destroying itself via its own hubris, the Democratic party. Keep it up Markos.

Even Markos's experimental ranked choice poll as of 6pm ET is blowing up in MM's face.

Bernie's been increasing his lead all day.

There are only 8 candidates listed in the ranked choice poll.

The way to play is to markup Bernie as your #1 choice and all the others as #8. Let 'em know you aren't favoring any corporate shill candidates.

The deadline is tonight, Wednesday, April 17th, 2019, 6PM PDT / 9PM ET
Don't forget to vote:

@Wally
it is calculating head-to-head results for each pair of candidates, and reporting the closest results for each pair. WRT to Sanders's results, it doesn't matter whether he outranks someone 1 to 8, or 1 to 2, the system only cares that he outranks the person.

Setting everybody to 8 is "throwing away your vote," in that ties don't matter at all (except in esoteric cases that are unlikely to ever happen -- there's a link to an explanation on the page). If there's somebody you particularly dislike, and don't want to see that candidate do well (Say, for example, Pistol Pete Buttinski), you'd do better to set that candidate to 8 and all the others to 7, or whatever. Another clever thing to do is just order them in reverse of what the current poll result shows, though you're not supposed to look at it before you vote. Randomly reordering them just throws noise into the system.

The straw poll's deadline is 8/31/19.

That's after the debates have started.

I don't get the purpose of it.

She's beating Biden this morning at 8 am 32-25. Not surprising given that everybody in the main poll that ended yesterday was walloping Biden.

I'm still at a loss how to read the results of that poll. Don't try to explain it to me coz you'll be wasting your time. Numbers like that just make my brain lock up. I still can't really understand how to best play the poll.

You're supposed to try to get the largest number of voters to support the best candidate. Instead, Democrats prefer shitty candidates but "pure" voters. (Which, to their warped mindset, means rich centrists who are social liberals and social liberals only.)

I've never seen a major party do this. They are TRYING to shrink their voting base. And Markie stands there in front of the Berkeley skyline (of course) and says anyone who ventures outside the bubble is not a "team player." One of the pundits described this as "burning heretics." I'd go ever further: I'd say it's like declaring independence from the country you're supposed to be trying to win.

Bernie Sanders, for all his faults, is trying to become the President of the United States. Markie thinks the job is called President of the Democratic Party, and he acts accordingly.

The Democrats need a President Dotard Trump more than anything. Of course a President Bernie Sanders is scary. Bernie Sanders doesn't get nearly enough credit for elevating that fucking party. I was reading the other day (I cannot remember where) that the surge of popularity for progressive candidates and policies is thanks to Dotard Trump, meaning his odious self set off an opposition. All of my WHAAAAAATs. Bernie Sanders turned the volume way up on the dialogues about progressivism. Bernie Sanders was busting his ass campaigning for progressive candidates in the midterms. I've been pitching an analogy since I started political blogging in 2004.

Breathtakingly stupid people, like Kos and the tribe of corporate navel gazers on his site, tend to think that voters need to work to support the politicians. We need to be sensitive to their needs. We are to support them; that's the team.

People here at C99P and others disenchanted with the duopoly realize that politicians need to work to support the people. They need to be sensitive to our needs. They are to support us; that's the team.

One is an authoritarian based ideology and the other a community or solidarity based ideology.

This asshole expects me to go prove to politicians that representing me is a good idea. I want the politicians, especially at this time in American history, to come and prove to me that voting for them will give me some representation.

The Democratic Establishment thinks they hold the leash of the people. And that we should perform tricks to earn the cookie that is their representation.

The rest of us non-bootlickers think that the people hold the leash and that politicians have to do tricks to earn the cookie, our vote, that puts them into office.

Funny that they don't seem to think that about their political sponsors. It's quite obvious to anyone watching that the Democratic Establishment is leashed, muzzled, crated, and scheduled food by their corporate sponsors.

Moral will NOT improve with more beatings. And winning will not happen without better morale. Do the math, kids.

Breathtakingly stupid people, like Kos and the tribe of corporate navel gazers on his site, tend to think that voters need to work to support the politicians. We need to be sensitive to their needs. We are to support them; that's the team.

This is exactly what they believe. Just recently I read a comment there that said that it's the democratic voters responsibility to vote for the democrats and if they lose their positions it our fault for not doing everything we can to get people to vote for them. Now how f'cked up is that? No matter how many times they vote with the republicans on crappy bills, we still have to vote for them anyway. They also think it's okay for blue dawg democrats in red states to vote with republicans because it's the only way for them to keep their jobs. Manchin voted for Kavanaugh so that a republican who was out during something else didn't have to inconvenience himself and come back to congress to vote.

Manchin, DiFi, Doug Jones, Kaine who was Hillary's VP pick and others have been helping McConnell get right wing and unqualified judges on the courts. Schumer too has made deals with him to let him just pass judges without any discussions. But it's our fault when democrats lose? Yeah, no!

@Shahryar

How very funny. You'd think that Markos would stop doing that, but instead he keeps making excuses for why Bernie keeps winning. lol!

Kirsten Gillibrand Releases Flexible “Whatever Bernie Said” Platform.

In an innovative first, Kirsten Gillibrand announces that her platform will literally mirror Bernie’s. Accordingly, she also pledges to say all the things Bernie supporters want to hear. Said Gillibrand, “They don’t call me Kirsten Build-A-Brand for nothing.” Few people doubt Buildabrand’s resolve to embrace and incorporate the new rhetoric – after all, she once hailed herself as the most conservative person in her state’s legislature. Being known as a “Shape-shifter” throughout her career has served her well.

After inheriting her seat in New York, Buildabrand rapidly morphed from a Blue Dog Democrat into Hillary, thanks to the tutelage of Chuck Schumer and Hillary herself. Nearly overnight, Buildabrand went from opposing gay marriage to supporting it. From supporting the Bush tax cuts to admonishing them. From wanting to expand government surveillance to curtailing their power. From seeking to deputize a deportation force for “illegals” to being a staunch ally to “undocumented workers.”

For the second straight week, once you eliminate Bernie Sanders, because he’s not a Democrat, Andrew Yang becomes the surging internet favorite with a huge 1.14% of the vote. But don’t get complacent Yang Gang, because the front-runner Kamala Harris is hot on his tail with an impressive 0.23% of the vote!
