U.S. asks Syrian Kurds to cut their own throats
Washington doesn't ask the Syrian Kurds for much. Not really. We only want them to passively step aside for their enemies to rape and pillage.
US officials are pushing for “a limited number” of Turkish forces to be allowed to deploy on the Syrian side of the border, along a stretch of territory running from the east of the Euphrates River to the Iraqi border, according to a senior official from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The source told Al-Monitor, “The subject has already been broached with us and we regard the presence of Turkish troops on our soil as extremely problematic and have made our position clear.”The source said that the Donald Trump administration’s Syria envoy, Ambassador Jim Jeffrey, was expected to travel to northeastern Syria in the coming days, when he is likely to renew demands that Turkish forces be allowed to enter northeastern Syria.
SDF commander in chief Mazlum Kobane is known to be viscerally opposed to any intrusion by Turkish forces. But Kobane is also a firm advocate of maintaining the partnership with the United States, which puts him in a bind. Another SDF official told Al-Monitor that the US demand would never be accepted.
Those darn Kurds. Why can't they be reasonable?
They should roll over and expose their bellies on command like good pets.
It's not like the Turks would commit arbitrary arrests, torture and looting against the Syrian Kurd civilians.
Or that 10's of thousands of Kurds were made refugees by our NATO ally.

Donald Trump likely has no idea WTF
is going on in the Middle East in general, and the brass likely isn't all that clear either. I would be curious to know what that chaos looks like on the inside, day-today. Just another spreading freedom and being greeted as liberators, amirite!
Maybe.
Maybe not.

The poor Kurds...
The Kurds have been kicked and pushed around the desert for a hundred years. Since WWI methinks? Every time the victors drew lines in the sand in the Middle East, there was never one moment of considerations about the real tribal situation on the ground. It was just splitting up the spoils of war. When was Balfour? They should have been given their own place then. Then we tricked them into attacking Saddam Hussein saying we'd be there for them, backed out, and 5000 or somesuch were gassed. Because WE didn't keep our word to back them. Then recently after Iraq at the latest they should have been given their own enclave, er, state or place, as they once had. They have been abused beyond belief the last hundred years. And we are still trying to kick them when they are down. Sad situation...
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
