Tulsi Update: April 14, 2015 (Birthday!, Gravel Endorses, TYT Good Interview, Los Angeles, NYT Bad))
Tulsi turned 38 two days ago (April 12)!!! Happy birthday to her!
Niko House interviewed candidate Mike Gravel yesterday. Gravel is a former Democratic Senator from Alaska for 12 years, before which he was involved in the Pentagon Papers and Watergate (on the correct side of things).
Gravel is "running for president" and trying to get 65,000 individual donors so that he can be in the debates. His goal is purportedly to blast the corporatists extensively at the debates and then withdraw his candidacy.
However, he let loose quite the reveal in his interview with Niko--he intends to endorse Tulsi at the debates if he makes it. That would be highly unusual--I might be wrong, but I cannot think of anyone I've seen endorsing another candidate at the debates.

On another note, Cenk Uygur interviewed Tulsi a second time on TYT, and he was actually supportive and fair about everything! Unreal. But, actually, quite a good interview. Recommended. Topics include homeless, Democratic party unity, Assange, and nuclear power.
Tulsi has been in Los Angeles again over the past couple days campaigning, talking to people about homelessness, touring skid row, and leading a clean up of MacArthur Park.
And, in the latest updates--the media and polls are continuing to downplay Gabbard wherever possible. According to the New York Times, Pete Buttigieg is the only candidate with miltary service in his/her record (Pete was a Lieutenant, and spent 7 months in active theater in Afghanistan; Tulsi a Major with a 12 month active theater tour in Iraq, and a 10 month tour in Kuwait). Thanks, New York Times!
Finally, Morning Call/Muhlenberg College came out with a new Pennsylvania poll for the first 10 days of April that I was very interested in seeing, as Tusli polled at 3% in late March in an Emerson poll there. Unfortunately, Morning Call neglected to provide her as one of the options! The Other option in the poll did get 6%, but still, the media are making it very hard to see anything about her!

I'm not a supporter. I don't support any of them. But still, it's more "1984" when some candidates are left out of polls and when news organizations have people who don't know how to think writing articles.

Gravel's endorsement is a good thing.
I don't know how much he matters, but it is always good to have a truth teller and bomb thrower on your side. I really wonder where and who started the blackout on her. DailyKos removed her from the #strawpoll almost the same day they wrote her name down. TYT had a blackout on her until it got blown up on Twitter. They said she wasn't really a progressive. MSM doesn't even know she exists. Because the censorship is so wide spread, I wonder if it is coming from inside the party, and why her? I know we can speculate, but it would be nice to have a fly on the wall or a leaked email or two to know the facts. Did Pelosi tell the msm not to cover her just like they told the msm to ignore Bernie and inflate Trump?

Tulsi does have some support on Twitter. Some of her strongest supporters are Bernie people. I think they're hoping it ends up Bernie/Tulsi 2020. That would assuredly give Pelosi and MSNBC a stroke.

Glimpsing the fear in the eyes a lot of the corrupt figures on TV, for that brief moment in time when they thought Trump might possibly really be serious about draining their swamp and derailing their gravy train.

Can't help it, it feels like Cenk had to do that fairer sounding interview, because he got the picture that some people didn't like his attitude in his first Tulsi interview.
Can't help it too, that to me Tulsi seems to be the most precise and clear thinking candidate. No fear of taking a stand independently of ideology or party politics.
Btw. I still want to know why some see in Tulsi Gabbard a war hawk.
I don't see it in her interviews and don't hear it in her words. She is precise. That is what I like about her and it seems as if her own personal life experiences don't influence her view points. That is rare, imho.
Everyone has his own life's experiences or that of their parents and even grand parents life experiences and IS influenced by those, which then make their view points on current candidates a more personally influenced one.
The lady is worth a buck and support. I don't think she ever had to sleep in her car and personally experienced homelessness, but she is the only one who convincingly cares exactly about those socially unbearable situations. As she says, it is happening in front of our eyes and it is not difficult to connect the dots. By God it is really not at all difficult. If I can do it, everyone can. Even as a foreigner and outsider and lazy researcher.
I thought she explained the situations especially about the effects of regime change wars and the laws that have influence on how to treat ordinary citizens, who lost all and are homeless, very well.
She is no war hawk, but she has a calmly fighting spirit in her. That probably is not liked much by some party-and ideology attached folks in political or msm powerful elites. Sometimes I think that those, who are overly critical of her, are just fearful of being betrayed again in the future. Their criticism is like a a pre-emptive retreat to talk against her, as to not have to admit they were wrong later on, in case she would win and she then would betray them later on. Thea behave Like a burned child that fears the fire, but they are so traumatized that they see a fire even if there isn't one yet. Too many traumata on all fronts. I wished it weren't so.

I'll try to explain why I see our military, in persons like Tulsi Gabbard and Gen. Michael Flynn, as making the strongest case against our corrupt, treasonous war policy. Our military was sent to Syria to fight ISIS, and yet our CIA has supported Al Qaeda and ISIS. At one point in the Syrian war our military was directly fighting forces supported by the CIA. As Gabbard has said, the mission is not clear.
When people complain that she is not anti-war because she's in the military, I understand that they find it hard to believe she's anti-war. But I find the strongest case against our policy coming from people in our military who have actually seen these wars first hand.

John Kerry comes to mind. Anti-war. Then not so much. It is just hard to trust people who have been in the military and claim they are anti-war. If you were truly anti-war, why did you enlist in the first place? During Vietnam, the real anti-war people went to jail or Canada.
I would love to believe she is the real deal, but I am not convinced.
However, the fact that Gravel endorses her says a lot.
John Kerry
is coming up a lot in our current discussions, not just because of his part in the Obama administration's efforts to bring together the Iran nuclear deal, but because of his relationship to Mueller when investigating BCCI.
I have always liked Kerry so much and believed he was anti-war during Vietnam. But the culmination of all his years of voicing positions of decency and legality have resulted in nothing, really. And ultimately you start right back where you started, that he is from one of the wealthiest families in American history, that just like Mueller, he takes on causes that need a strong leader, he says what we want to hear, and then he accomplishes nothing. We are faced with a 2004 presidential election in which the candidates were from the same Yale fraternity, Skull & Bones, and wound up allowing the winner to be the grandson of a money-launderer for Hitler.
As to whether
someone in the military can ever be anti-war, I'm sure you can consider that many people become pacifists because of their experiences in war. And many of the most outspoken opponents of our treasonous war policies are in our current military. General Flynn is an example of that position. Presient Eisenhower was the definitive critic of the military industrial complex, he coined the phrase, and he had spent his entire adult life in the military before becoming president.
I agree with you that going into military service indicates a belief that at least some wars are necessary. But most of our young people serving during the last few decades have been doing so in order to survive, just hoping to survive, as there are so few opportunities to make a living in our hollowed-out economy. And they may actually believe in "the mission" as advertised. But I think Gabbard has seen enough to question what the hell we are doing, as have many others.

Whoa! That is a courageous and truthful statement! I hope it gets lots of critical attention, even negative attention, because it's the core of the issue. I agree with anyone who would say it's not Trump who took us into Syria, and I would even say it has been Trump who has tried to get us out. But the war between our military and the CIA's coalition with the Saudis has to be fleshed out. Bless her heart. She has a lot of courage to call the CIA what it is.

If that happens, Tulsi was conning us all about her anti-war stance.
I don't see Tulsi
as having an anti-war stance. Her stated viewpoint takes into account that some wars may be necessary under some circumstances (at least, at our current level of human evolution).
From what I've seen so far, Tulsi is more anti-MIC. That stance would not be contrary to Bernie's declared position.
