Just thought this would be interesting to some. Probably not surprising to everyone. It doesn't have Kasich, probably because it was made before the last round of primaries.

I pulled all my diaries down at TOP,
except two. I left them to make a point...which no one will probably see. One was to get everyone to take this sort of test...in 2012. The other was to post the results. All the candidates were upper right. All the responders were lower left.

I was also using my comments as kind of a story and although I'm a piker compared to many, I was wondering if there is a way to save the comments?
They are also a memory tool for me.
Anyways, I saw your test a few weeks(?) ago and it seems why yes, there is a real choice to be made.

I just saved them as a .txt file
I just copied and pasted the text from the diaries into the new file. On a couple of the diaries, I saved all the comments...most weren't really worth keeping. The ones I did were about my grandmother's 100th birthday...lots of nice comments, and those are happy memories. The other was a diary about a misleading mailer the Republican party put out, here in Arizona. It was before the Markos edict, but the comments were weirdly what we have come to expect after the edict...rationalizing, illogical, obfuscating, non sequiters...in short, maddening. All the expected 'players' were represented. There was no mention of Bernie, whatever, but it was obvious from their comments, they saw the implications of the mailer TO Bernie. Thought the comments (and the commenters) were worth saving.

Trump's positions are all over the map
Donald Trump defies conventional left-right categorization. In the graph, he ought to get more than one dot. Some of his policy positions are actually progressive -- to the chagrin of the Tea-GOP establishment.
Trump supports single-payer health insurance.
He wants to raise taxes on the wealthy.
He rejects so-called "free trade" deals and has threatened high tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and China.
He thinks affirmative action is okay.
He supports current federal policy on funding Planned Parenthood.
He doesn't believe you should be able to fire someone just for being gay.
He doesn't want to cut Social Security or Medicare.
He's in favor of a ban on assault weapons.
He has questioned Israel's commitment to a Palestinian peace deal, and says the USA ought to be neutral.

Trump has backed off of 'single payer,' but
says he wants Everyone to have coverage.
Because of conservative pushback, he's now touting CDHC's (Consumer Driven Health Care) plans, which were mostly intended for healthy or younger folks, as well as for more affluent beneficiaries, who can afford $10,000 plus in annual deductibles and co-pays.
Spot on regarding all his other stances.

When I did this test four years ago, and got as many commenters from GOS to do it as I could, we were ALL to the left of Sanders's position on this graph. In fact, see the record of a bunch of people in the comments below.

If I recall correctly, . . .
. . . the candidate ratings are based on their pronounced policy proposals, their platform. What passes for a political position in the States does not always translate to what politics are anywhere else in the known universe (see Trump, Donald), so the location of a candidate will be based on the Political Compass team's intuitive evaluations of their positions as much as real policies.
I hardly need to remind folks here that the graph reflects an international spectrum of politics, not just the American norm, and an American candidate's positions can deviate markedly from what is considered reasonable in the international community. That's why (a) American politicians are skewed so far to the right on the graph, and (b) why foreigners think we're nuts. We know this here, of course, having seen Political Compass for years now, but not everyone who might wander in to read this knows that site's context or criteria.
Most telling in its own way is where Sanders turns up on the graph, at a frighteningly radical two squares from the center.
I've been called a square, especially by the cool kids in class.
Never been described as two squares, not even from the center. Although given age, weight, etc., a large pear might be closer to home.

They are always an eye-opener, especially in election years.
I typically rate somewhere deep down in the lower left of the scale, somewhere near "Stark raving anarcho-socialist". I have no idea why. Here was my last result, somewhere southwest of the Dalai Lama.

Since the last time I took the test, I've moved left and down. Most people become more conservative as they get older, but I've bucked the trend and become more progressive. Could be the medications of course.

IIRC, this was originally a recruiting tool for the Libertarian
party. (Nothing against it, I'm not saying it's ACCURATE, just that I recall every time I saw it about ten or fifteen years ago, it always linked to the LP)

if Hillary is +7,+4 and Bernie is -2,0 then the total distance between them is 13.
Most of us are approximately -7, -7. The distance between that point and Bernie totals 12.
So basically we're as far from Bernie as he is from Hillary.
(And yes, I know how to calculate the other side of a triangle.)

Political Compass
I've long thought that this is the only meaningful political test I've taken. A simple left/right slider is completely insufficient. I like to take this test once every two years or so, see if I've changed at all. It hasn't moved much since the first time I took it, back in 2006 or so. Here's mine from last October.
