Matamoros strike threatens to shut down North American auto industry
Here's another way to park sand in the gears. Go autow orkers go. Turn the plants in to clean factories, don't close them. I like dreamin'.

The strike by 70,000 auto parts workers in Matamoros, Mexico is beginning to affect production at US automobile assembly plants, raising the possibility that auto production across North America could be brought to a standstill.

US workers are reporting to the World Socialist Web Site that management is slowing production at General Motors and Ford assembly plants as a result of the strike. Production at Ford’s assembly plant in Flat Rock, Michigan will stop this week due to a shortage of parts caused by the walkout.

By courageously withholding their labor, the workers at 50 auto parts plants that have been struck in Matamoros, just south of Brownsville, Texas, could bring a major sector of the world economy to its knees.

Kamala Harris has announced for POTUS. Talk about a flawed candidate. Will anyone have the courage to attack her?

Elizabeth Warren, who voted Republican until Bill Clinton, then, by her own words, voted both Republican and Democratic. Kirsten Gillibrand did almost a complete 180 when she stopped running for the House and started running for the Senate. Originally, she wasn't even Pub Lite, just Pub. More recently, she was a leader of the Dump Franken initiative. I don't especially care about Franken, who voted for one SNAP cut after another. (When he first ran, I contributed to his recount fight, even though I am not in his state, another donation I regret. My friend is right: NEVER donate to a politician.) However, between Gillibrand and the other femals who declared, I think we can look forward to even more accusations of misogyny.

In the last Presidential cycle, Sanders once mentioned that he had waited so long to announce to see if Warren was running. Will that affect him this time? (He had supposedly been gearing up to run.) And, if Sanders does run, I bet we hear a lot more about that 50 year-old article Sanders wrote, questioning why women have rape fantasies. And probably a lot more ageism. This time, no one is as close to him in age as was Hillary, though Warren is not so far away.

Not doing GREAT, but doing OK.

Had a few really tough things happen last week emotionally, including separating from my Significant Other. Not easy to deal with, but I'm moving on. (Forgive me for not providing details. This one's kinda personal, and I'm still going through my emotional rollercoaster. Posting here usually helps, so Trying to do that.)

I am trying to stay sane, trying to stay happy, and really, really glad I'm going to Judo tonight.

OF COURSE, it's hard to see it from where you are this morning. It just forking happened. But, next week, it will be better and next month, even better and a year from now even better than that. Meanwhile, you've got a wonderful craft that you enjoy a lot; and, before long, it will be spring and summer, times when you can do many enjoyable things.

Thanks for the photos Lookout! Could have been called the ice moon here. Poking out my head to see the spectacle was quite bracing. Minus 18 degrees F with the wind. So cold, the moon was frozen in place when I got up before the sun! HA.

Enjoyed watching the Patriots win a nail biter while throwing logs on the fire. The black bean chili came out good too. Making a beer bread to go with it today.

Puerto Viagra sounds pretty enticing about now.

You didn't make that clear. I thought you were talking about this essay at first, but could see other comments. So, I thought it was the post that got heated that was posted last night by a new member about Tulsi Gabbard, but there are lots of comments in that essay. Now I'll go look for JtC's post, though I dread it now.
