Merry Christmas to all
Thanks for your Evening Blues, Joe. Hardly ever get to comment here; too busy working for the man. That may come to an end soon ... as long as our "representatives" in DC don't destroy Social Security first. But, until they do, I want to wish all a Merry Christmas. Otis said it better than I can...
merry christmas txxx...
i hope that you are able to comfortably shake free from the man's grip and whatever busy drudgery he has conjured up for you to occupy your time with.
have a great holiday and thanks for the otis!

What do these characters have in common?
Nathaniel Winkle
Augustus Snodgrass
Tracy Tupman
Alfred Jingle
special hint...
Joe — the "fat boy" who consumes great quantities of food and constantly falls asleep in any situation at any time of day.

OK, another hint
It was a Dickens seasonal tale, much darker than 'Christmas Carol'

evening qms...
heh, i vaguely remember that they were the characters in the "pickwick papers," which i read in the neighborhood of 50 years ago and remember it as kind of a series of disjointed stories.
yuppers
heard an audio reading of the pickwick papers today while building a garage. Intensely dark spiritual conversation with the devil. A great counter effect of accepted religiosity. Wrapped up in christmas paper. HA!
Cheers

Hohoho happy holidays, js!
Eat drink and be merry!
And if you don't want that fruit cake we sent you, 'give it to your neighbor!'
:):)
We have been doing maintenance and repairs on our old cabin, but did get some outstanding Mexican food for brekkie.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

oddly enough, i love fruitcake. why, some of my best friends...

Wishing you and yours the best. I appreciate your excellent news review and all the work it takes to put that together almost daily. You are a gift!

merry christmas, lookout...
... to you and yours!
and thank you for the weekend watch!
Merry Christmas everyone! And to all a good night! Zzzzz…
Spent a happy evening with friends — they follow the custom here in Germany of exchanging and opening presents on Christmas Eve, rather than waiting until the morn of Christmas Day.
merry christmas, lotlizard...
i hope that you had a wonderful evening and a restful christmas day.
Evening joe and all.
Thank you joe, for a very merry Christmas playlist ; ).
All the best to you and your loved ones.
merry christmas, janis...
thanks for the christmas wishes! there will be another helping of christmas music tomorrow.
i hope that the weather down there is appropriately christmas-y.
Cheers joe
It's very typically Christmas-y, rain. Only this one has more of it. It could be hot and dry the day before, but on the day it almost always rains. Do you have snow?
too warm here for snow...
it's been up in the mid 40's during the day and a little below freezing at night for the past several days. it looks like it might be a while before we get any snow here.
So, are you barbequing for Christmas? n/t
hmmm...
there are some ribs in the deep freeze...
Don't forget to add a little ginger
to your barbecue sauce ; ). Enjoy!
The E.U. political caste is as evil and stupid as the U.S. one
https://www.laquadrature.net/en/2018/12/06/european-governments-agree-to...
Becoming a centralized federal state under the existing political caste would be disastrous. The E.U.’s current leadership and their political culture are elitist, secretive, and deeply undemocratic.
Elections to the European Parliament under current conditions are a top-down propaganda event — it’s meaningless theatre and the people know it.
https://www.politico.eu/article/european-election-2019-brussels-risks/
Abolishing national sovereignty under current conditions only serves to further disempower ordinary citizens and deny them any truly sovereign voice in shaping the future.
The 99% need to do everything in our steadily waning power to prevent the federal state from being created until the globalizing, elitist, neoliberal, neo-imperialist political caste is unseated and democratic conditions and culture can be made to prevail.
