Thanks for your Evening Blues, Joe. Hardly ever get to comment here; too busy working for the man. That may come to an end soon ... as long as our "representatives" in DC don't destroy Social Security first. But, until they do, I want to wish all a Merry Christmas. heh, i vaguely remember that they were the characters in the "pickwick papers," which i read in the neighborhood of 50 years ago and remember it as kind of a series of disjointed stories.

heard an audio reading of the pickwick papers today while building a garage. Intensely dark spiritual conversation with the devil. A great counter effect of accepted religiosity. Wrapped up in christmas paper. HA!

Spent a happy evening with friends — they follow the custom here in Germany of exchanging and opening presents on Christmas Eve, rather than waiting until the morn of Christmas Day.

It's very typically Christmas-y, rain. Only this one has more of it. It could be hot and dry the day before, but on the day it almost always rains. Do you have snow?

Elections to the European Parliament under current conditions are a top-down propaganda event — it’s meaningless theatre and the people know it.

As the EU engages in top-down efforts to enthuse voters, its starting position is that only half of Europe’s adult population say they are interested in the election, according to the new Eurobarometer survey.

That’s on par with surveys conducted prior to the 2014 European Parliament election, in which turnout dropped for the seventh time in a row to less than 43 percent. In Slovakia just 13 percent voted.

Abolishing national sovereignty under current conditions only serves to further disempower ordinary citizens and deny them any truly sovereign voice in shaping the future.

The 99% need to do everything in our steadily waning power to prevent the federal state from being created until the globalizing, elitist, neoliberal, neo-imperialist political caste is unseated and democratic conditions and culture can be made to prevail.
