I don't put sugar in my coffee, but mine was getting a bit too cool; and it seems warmer now.

@HenryAWallace
for the not so faint of heart I thought to post those blackish pigs, because some hate them more than the pinky ones. ...

Now I have to stop being a mean girl.

Good Night.

I hear they can be very smart. Like Arnold on Green Acres. But they are an ecological and agricultural disaster in many areas. I have heard estimates of 6 million feral hogs in Texas, I suspect it is at least double that. We see 50 or more every evening at dusk heading toward the river. They destroy the understory and litter (duff) layer. I don't know how any ground-nesting birds make it nowadays. They remove all the snakes, including rattlers. We see dozens of litters a year, and each one I name the babies the same: Taco, burrito, tamale, flauta, enchilada, etc. These are what my friend from the SF bay area called free-range organic, I call them mulberry and pecan fed and delicious. You have to be hog-fenced here. A guy told me they will come in your house and eat with you. I told him not in my house, we would have that one for dinner. Wink

@UntimelyRippd I am really surprised such hardcore rednecks and real people as Texans are in general, that they bought the dripping with slime Ted Cruz. It was that preachers son upbringing, knowing how to BS a crowd... he can do it.

All three seen last week. One in a harvested field. At first I thought it was a dog, but couldn't figure out what a dog would be eating in a corn field, off the ground like that. As I drove past, I realized it was a young hog, the size of a large pit bull. The other two were digging around in a ditch not far from houses, slightly smaller than the first one. All seen about 9:00 am, in bright sun.

Weird!

The first one I ever saw was dead in a ditch and was literally the size of a VW Beetle (or the '91 Honda Civic I was driving at the time). My first thought was that it was a dead bear on the side of the highway, but immediately laughed out loud at myself because Southeast Texas doesn't have bears. I looked more closely on my way back home a short time later, and was floored by the sheer size.

I've never eaten the meat, but know that people trap them. One man I used to work with had connections in San Antonio who'd come pick them up for slaughter.

Did you know that a pig was nominated for the President of the United States in 1968? The one with four legs in the middle .

@JtC
I see have two legs though. Look how serious they look...

I just posted my favoritw piglet photo, because for the time being I just watch German evening news here in Germany and I was just so "touched" by the one photo they chose to show in the background, one of all the five presidents sitting in the front row at the funeral of GHWBush, stone-faced. Their facial expressions were so telling I immediately had to shut up.

The photo was a lecture in "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most serious piglet of them all".

I searched for that specific photo, but couldn't find it on the "google farm'. May be it is better that way.

Thanks, I didn't know either the Party of Nobody had a history, I just heard of this term through Joe on the EB here.

Thanks again.

Is it too much to wish for that they leave pigs out of it—and spare horses too, while they’re at it?
