Free Range C99 Financing Fun on Indigeneous Peoples Day
jb and I just read through some essays, open threads, and comments here and there in c99.
Don't know about you, but we think this place is worth supporting.
Where else can you get this kind of digest of things that matter, art, music, ideas? There are a few places, surely, but this one rocks imo.
For many of us this place is a one stop shop for news and new thinking.
A place to laugh. A place to cry. A place to share. A place to learn and love.
Contribute
Thank you to all the writers who post essays and run open threads here, especially those who do so on a regular basis.
And A Special Thanks To That Person Behind The Curtain
Maybe you are new here, and don't yet realize that one person does the bulk of the technical work, does it AFAIK as pretty much a full time gig.
So today, importantly, I want to thank you, JtC for all your massive work.
I love how things work when I click on them, the new logo, the mobile version, all of it. You are the best!
Thanks also to dkmich, gulfgal, joe shikspak and others who contribute extra action to keep this place running and spread the word. If I left anyone out please add them in the comments.
You may be thinking 'How can I help keep this place up and running ?'
Good news! Supporting caucus99percent is sooooo free range!
That's, right you don't have to contribute monthly like some of us do. But small organizations in it for the long run really do need as many people as possible to commit to monthly contributions as best they can, if they can, so that the org can operate and plan ahead.
Now that does not in anyway preclude one time donations. Maybe a one hitter is better for you?
Organic Community
What does that mean? For me, it means anyone is welcome here no matter who you are. There are rules, yes, but not that many. What I am getting around to saying is that some can't offer financial support, that is understood, but let it be known that your contributions here making comments and writing are much appreciated.
There are so many ways to support this place financially: you can donate online, by mail, and believe it or not, several other ways to boot.
Heh. Batter up !
Okay, now first off, look up top of this web page and there in the right hand column is the place to aim, a handy button and a link to more Donation info, the place for you to let fly and knock it out of the park. So to speak.
Have fun, give early, give often, give monthly, give once, twice, three times, give a little, give a lot, go for it!
Ready to play?
Happy Indigeneous Peoples Day, all.
Namaste.
Edited for typos etc

Who can give $20,000 to support C99?
jb and I attended an annual fundraising dinner last month for our favorite non-profit organization that we volunteer with.
Every year they have a 'fund a need' part of the event where they introduce programs for the coming year and give supporters the opportunity to publicly raise a hand and contribute in support of an issue.
This year they started the asking at $25,000. No one raised a hand.
But one person did when they asked for $20,000.
And as the asking went lower more and more contributed.
Maybe you just cashed in some stock because you read here the banks are at their bad old ways again and you want to be flexible just now.
Maybe, just maybe, you want to take this opportunity to send some love to Jtc?
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
Aw, geez...
thanks a ton do, really appreciate it, big time..
Thanks to Jtc
for all the hard work keeping this place running. Love it when he has time to comment or drop in on one of the essays with his wonderful sense of humor and wisdom.
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!
I give up.
I try to use the credit card, but all I ever get is paypal. I will email you for the info so I can snail mail you a check. Maybe you can make two donate buttons. One specifically for paypal, and one for everything else.
Any event, thanks for all you do. Hope it at least helps with the server and software fees.

The...
credit card payments are made through PayPal. Sorry, I have no other way of accepting CCs.
I've been reading some excellent books on
...monetizing blogs, and up-market SEO mad skillz. I never wanted to do that for my own blogs, but the times were different, too. The markets are more established and advertising dollars are mostly moving to the internet. Ads are much more sophisticated now, as well.
I would no longer hesitate to monetize a blog of my own. On the other hand, the topics might seem too edgy. Zero Hedge just placed ads for the first time, and they cleaned up quite a bit.
But consider the source, here. I just got banned from Reddit for being a Russian Troll.
Hope you will share some nuggets here as you have time.
www.AskBobRankin.com started monetizing. OMG he has a lot of ads. Can't blame him for wanting to eat, though. We get so much from his work we put up with the confusion.
A while back I noticed thatWould hate to see that here, however, would like to see whatever works to keep things going.
Within limits of course.
Brings to mind how much flack Greenwald and The Intercept caught when they accepted a big funder.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
I got banned from TOP for opinions I can post here.
I will be finishing up my budget and sending along some money. Not as much as the last two times (modest amounts). But man, old age costs a lot of money sometimes.
This Blue Blog loads much faster since the last upgrade
Thanks for everything you do, JtC.
Ditto on the thanks for everyone who contributes the time to write essays here.
I send a check.
Monthly.
Inside a cute card.
It only takes a moment to write the check, although picking through the stack of cute cards takes some thought.

What a thoughtful idea, otc, something real and tangible

I give to multiple charities.
Can't think of a better use than to share these incredible photos than Jtc.
He skips the Christmas or Mother's Day sentiments.
It is the photo of the lovely rescued animal I want to share.
He doesn't complain!

ack, divineorder, you are killing me softly
with your words again. I think I have something smallish going in monthly and now you seduce me again ...
sigh...
Sometimes I wished one could give a tip to certain authors as well ... for their 'killing words'.
And as gjohnsit told us so eloquently not to invest into Wall Street bulls(hitters), may be it is a good idea to invest here.
To all of you with thanks.

Hi mimi thanks for your hand across the water!
Hey jb and I were just wondering earlier today about the status of the election in Brazil and what Greenwald was saying and then viola, read your comment that included excerpts and links! Magic!
That's an interesting idea you have there!
Thanks for contributing, and thanks for the song!

Many of the mystery podcasts I listen to. Everyone is running ads.

Many are running ads. It can be done. I never click them though
Hell we even tried it once on our youtube channel but were like this guy:

I was sort of here and there for a while
But since I started using the Paypal link for monthly payments, it is so painless. What I look at, even though I do not drink coffee, is that my donation is about one Starbucks per week. That is a small amount for me to enjoy and learn from people on this blog without having to endure annoying advertising.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

That's where we are gg. Painless is correct.

I started my
monthly contribution at $15. I set up an automatic payment thru my bank. JtC will give you the address. I've increased my contribution over time. I value this place enough to support it.
Thank you to all the essay writers. Your research is untouchable. It's why I pay to read here.
Thanks for doing this, DO. It's too easy to slip through the cracks.
Thanks for keeping it running, JtC. We don't thank you enough.

I have been wanting to donate big for the longest time
Unfortunately, just when I would be in a position to, German government has decided I have to reimburse them for over 4,000 euro for some social services I received when suffering from depression.
Aahhh, I guess that’s what I get for — along with autochthonic Germans — being among those whom Angela Merkel calls “diejenigen, die schon länger hier leben” (those who have been living here longer) instead of those who “neu dazugekommen sind” (just arrived recently, i.e. refugees, asylum seekers, and economic migrants).
Count me in as a regular contributor.
From a little experience at the beginning of the year: asking JtC to notify a payor, if the revenue stops. In the end I think it took five months to restart. My bank stopped supporting POP Money.
Thanks to all the writers. Someday, when my house mold project is finally under control, I might have a regular life.
Mold is an ugly problem, and we won't get any help because we can't prove it was something he knew when he sold it to us. Our doctor said no way they weren't feeling the effects.
Now that the fall rain and ourages have arrived, the mold is blooming and so are our symptoms.
I thank all who contribute in every way. It is helpful and many times a delight.
You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again you did not know. ~ William Wiberforce
If you can donate, please! POP Money is available for bank-to-bank transfers. Email JtC to make a monthly donation.
