It's China's turn to "meddle" in our sacred elections

What a coincidence! It seems every nation with an independent political agenda, is also "meddling" in our most sacred and holy of institutions.

President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that China is working to interfere in November's midterm elections with the aim of damaging him politically.
"Regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election coming up in November against my administration," Trump said during remarks at the UN Security Council.
The President offered scant details or evidence, which came during a session meant to focus on issues of nonproliferation. He suggested the meddling attempts came as retribution for the budding trade war he has waged with Beijing.
"They do not want me or us to win because I am the first president ever to challenge China on trade," Trump said. "We are winning on trade. We are winning at every level. We don't want them to meddle or interfere in our upcoming election."

China has denied the charge, but they are foreigners, so they can't be trusted.
What's more, the Trump Administration has offered PROOF of meddling!

Later on Wednesday, Trump referred to a Chinese government-run media company’s four-page supplement in the Sunday Des Moines Register promoting the mutual benefits of U.S.-China trade. The practice of foreign governments buying space in U.S. papers to promote trade is common and differs from a clandestine operation run by a national intelligence agency.
“China is actually placing propaganda ads in the Des Moines Register and other papers, made to look like news,” Trump said in a Twitter post.

Amazing! Did the Chinese think they could buy four-page ads in our newspapers and Americans wouldn't notice?!

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that this accusation surfaced when we started imposing sanctions on China, and talks totally broke down.

China’s appetite for U.S. investment had picked up in recent years, nearly quadrupling from 2014 to 2016. Yet despite some high-profile transactions and rapid growth, China isn’t a large investor in the U.S., making up less than 1% of the more than $4 trillion of foreign direct investment in the country last year.

China’s decline stood out for two reasons. First, because of rising trade tensions between the two nations. Second, because the overall foreign direct investment position in the U.S. continued to increase last year, rising by $260.4 billion in 2017, according to Monday’s report, leaving China an outlier. The Commerce Department said the overall increase “mainly reflected” increased investment from Europe, “primarily Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands.”

elections or other internal affairs. And thank heaven that no one other than the nations we expressly and publicly identify as meddlers try to "meddle" in US elections and other US internal affairs.(/s)

I must have skimmed over the bolded language below earlier:

I have seen many stories and posts about Russia's having interfered with the 2016 Presidential election, but I have not seen any evidence of that. I also have not seen any news article or professional commentary pointing out that no one has provided evidence of Russian meddling with our elections. That it is pointed out when Trump makes an analogous claim is an example of how reporting that is perfectly accurate can nonetheless be slanted.

Also, notice that the sentence that points out that Trump offered "scant details or evidence" makes no sense as a whole. To me, it seems to have been edited poorly, to insert the comment about scant details or evidence into a sentence that may originally have said only that Trump's claim of interference by China came during a session meant to focus on issues of proliferation.

I don't care two cents about Trump, but I do care very much about slanting. Moreover, of late, it's been touted as vile, un-American and, for want of a better term, "Trumpian," to criticize "our" news organizations. And I also very much care about that.
