Tulsi Gabbard calls out administration protection of Al Qaeda

https://mobile.twitter.com/TulsiGabbard/status/1039636324322402304

@TulsiGabbard

While President Trump & VP Pence give 9/11 speeches about how much they care about the victims of al-Qaeda’s attack on our country, they are simultaneously acting as protectors of AQ in Syria/Idlib, threatening Russia and Syria that if they attack al-Qaeda, we will punish them.

Nikki Haley and the administration can't be concerned about civilian deaths. Mosul and Raqqa were destroyed in Trump's assault on ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The administration made the case that such an assault was the only way to rid the countries of ISIS and that the civilian casualties were unfortunate but necessary. Now suddenly an assault on Idlib, last remaining stronghold of Al Qaeda, is unacceptable. Is it because Idlib is the last remaining stronghold and supply route for war against Assad?

‘Don’t test us’: Haley threatens US strikes over any attack on Syria’s Idlib
13 Sep, 2018 14:06

Any attack on Syria’s Idlib province is going to be “dealt with,” US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley warned, as Washington seeks to stop the Russian-backed Syrian army from retaking the last remaining jihadist stronghold.

Washington and its allies have also warned Syria that they will act not just in case of chemical weapons being used, but against any attack on the province, the US envoy to the UN said.

“Any offensive on the civilian people in Idlib was going to be dealt with,” Haley told Fox News’ Bret Baier.

Idlib is the last remaining stronghold of various jihadist groups that once sought to overthrow the government of President Bashar Assad, with support from the US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other regional powers. The most powerful of these groups is Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra; it is an affiliate of Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization the US holds responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

I admire her courage. The powers that be will try to traduce her and I shudder to think of what might happen if they are not successful. In any case I am deeply grateful that she is calling bullshit on the standard narrative.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

@Not Henry Kissinger @gjohnsit Big Al doesn't like Tulsi because she's on the Council on Foreign relations, almost uniformly warmongers. But Tulsi is brave, even when speaking against sites of power to which she belongs, such as the DNC. She had the courage to visit Assad, interview ordinary Syrians and assess the effects of war on that nation first hand.

Bernie has sold out, screaming (yes) about the Great Russian Faery Tale of 2016 and Trump being a war criminal. Funny how Bernie left Hillary off the hook for that trait--and the Bern also gave Obama a pass on his mass murders and Drone Kill Tuesdays. I have lost most of the respect I once held for the man. He could no longer resist--resist the temptation to grab money on his way out the door.

I wish that many more people would know the extent to which the evil cast of many U.S. policies and strategies traces back to the work and membership of the Council on Foreign Relations.

@gjohnsit

This is definitely the tactics that the front pagers do. Stretching a fact to make it look false by changing a few words and then the context of the facts. And people don't pick up on what was originally stated and how it was changed to fit the narrative. Over and over ....

Then there's that ploy to accuse anyone who doesn't buy the bs as being a Putin lover or a Russian bot.

Traduce | Definition of Traduce by Merriam-Webster

Traduce is one of a number of English synonyms that you can choose when you need a word that means "to injure by speaking ill of." Choose traduce when you want to stress the deep personal humiliation, disgrace, and distress felt by the victim.

that's what people said about her when she met with him a few years ago. I applaud her for stating this when every other lickspitle is either staying quiet or parroting the party line that we are in Syria to defeat terrorism. It's a weird way of going about defeating them when you are constantly propping them up.

Joe Biden apologised over IS remarks, but was he right?
By Barbara Plett Usher BBC
7 October 2014

… "Our biggest problem was our allies," Mr Biden told students at the Harvard Kennedy School.
"The Turks… the Saudis, the Emirates, etc, what were they doing? They were so determined to take down (Syrian President Bashar al) Assad and essentially have a proxy Sunni-Shia war, what did they do? They poured hundreds of millions of dollars and tens, thousands of tonnes of weapons into anyone who would fight against Assad."

These policies ended up helping militants linked to al-Qaeda and ultimately IS, he said.

Mr Biden also claimed that Turkey admitted it had let too many foreign fighters cross its border into Syria...

Uncle Joe knows damn well that our other allies such as Israel, U.K., and who knows how many others are supporting them too. Hell the WH get to go to the U.K. to practice their rescues. And then there's Hillary and the CIA handing out Gaddafi's weapons to the terrorists like they were candy.

Sheesh!

This is perfect! The more the far-right Democrats like the DNC and, apparently, even DailyKOS now, try unsuccessfully to vilify. Progressives, the more they self destruct and grow her Legend. Americans won't care if Tulsi Gabbard is a Democrat or an independent, they will vote for her Progressive values and her anti-corporate State of Mind.

Tulsi is no darling with the right, although she has certainly resonated with some who vote conservative because she cares about and has an interest in all Americans. What she was doing in Syria was making a difference, working to save both American and Syrian children's lives, and having the courage and intestinal fortitude to do so. If the DNC and our so-called party leadership can't wake up and stop serving corporate interests, they will lose their jobs and implode. We will not be voting for or supporting anyone who supported Hillary, or anyone in the party so corrupt as to have been involved in corrupting the primary last year. I've been a lifelong Democrat, and am over half a century old. I will take my wisdom and experience where they are needed. And if we need to have our first independent President of the United States, so be it!

The author and some inner-party heads would do well to remember that there is at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the democratic party who are so strong in our values and morals and ethics and beliefs that we will never, ever vote for someone nearly as corrupt as Hillary Clinton was. We will never support corporatism or fascism. If they want to support that kind of character, they need to move to the right, because we will not tolerate it any longer. Nor will we tolerate it ever again! Tulsi Gabbard is a freaking hero, and she knows how to get the job done. She has my support. amongst the courageous and strong, she has all of our votes!!

“Russia has violated the sovereignty and independence of the Ukrainian people, in direct contravention of its own treaty obligations and international law,” said Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, an Army combat veteran and member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “I support the sanctions announced today, and I strongly urge the President to go further and consider a broader range of consequences. If Russia is allowed to continue its aggressive push for control in Ukraine, there will be long-term, serious, and costly security risks for the United States and Europe. Russia must face serious consequences for their actions; the U.S. must consider options that truly isolate Russia economically and diplomatically—not just sanction a handful of oligarchs—and send a message of unity and strength from the international community.

“We cannot stand by while Russia unilaterally degrades Ukraine’s territorial integrity. We must offer direct military assistance—defensive weapons, military supplies and training—to ensure Ukraine has adequate resources to respond to Russia’s aggressions and defend themselves. We cannot view Ukraine as an isolated incident. If we do not take seriously the threat of thinly veiled Russian aggression, and commit to aiding the people of Ukraine immediately, we will find ourselves in a more dangerous, expensive and disastrous situation in the future.”

@Big Al

and I have to acknowledge that you are doing the clearly right and obvious thing of looking at all aspects of Tulsi's work. You are absolutely right that if she thinks what she says in your posting, she either hasn't paid any attention to what happened in Ukraine and hasn't paid any attention to Nuland's testimony before Congress that we are arming Nazi forces in Ukraine, or she supports all such actions. Thank you for posting this.

That said, she still calls out our protection of Al Qaeda. I wish she would see the connection between Al Qaeda and the Nazi forces we support in Ukraine, the support for those forces by our CIA, by Israel, and by Saudi Arabia. But you're totally right. Somebody needs to call her on all of this. I stand corrected, and I thank you, AGAIN. Please point this out to me whenever get my hopes up about Tulsi Gabbard.

And I get tired of seeing people who point to the religious ideas of Islam as being poison in our world being labeled "Islamophoblic." Religious nonsense is at the heart of both the actions of terrorists on the Muslim side and of the US Christian cabal that has taken over our government and military on the US side.

You can call me a "religionophobe". I'll wear the label proudly.

@Linda Wood become. That smiling asshole must have said Assad used or will use chemical weapons ten times in two minutes.

As for Carlson, he skirts the issue by saying Al Qaeda "sympathiziers"", i.e., so called rebels (a propaganda label) allied with Al Qaeda, and questions why the U.S. should even be there now but allows a conversation blatantly stating as fact that Assad uses or will use chemical weapons. There's nothing about how the U.S. and company are using Al Qaeda as a proxy force for regime change/country balkanization which is the reason why they must be protected in Idlib.
I don't see this as anything other than propaganda by Carlson and Fox news. Propaganda usually has an element of truth in it to give it veracity. Carlson seems either confused or able to only go so far according to his corporate masters parameters.
