Danny O’Connor lost Ohio's 12th by less than 1% in a very conservative district, but he wasn't a progressive by any measure.
Michigan
Abdul El-Sayed lost Michigan's governor race. He got about a third of the vote.
He was the only strong progressive in the state.
Kansas
Much, much better news here. Kansas is going purple.
It's still a bit early, but Welder looks strong.
Missouri
Cori Bush only got 36% of the vote for House District 1.
Mark Osmack only got 25% of the vote for House District 2.
August 14 and 28 are the last two big primary days.
Comments
The number of votes Abdul El-Sayed got is surprising
I thought he was more popular than that. So is the blue wave going to happen? I've been reading some right wing sites and they seem hyped to not let the democrats flip congress.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

MI had voting problems in populated blue counties.
Detroit, Wayne County, and Oakland County are two of the three largest population areas in the state, and they consistently vote blue for President. Macomb County is the home of the original Reagan Republicans and Tea Party central. Macomb had plenty of ballots, but gollly, Oakland, ran out of ballots early, and Detroit had problems with broken machines and polling places. People were told to "wait". Most didn't. Why would they?
The number of votes cast and for whom isn't worth shit.

"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon
Problems always seem to happen in areas where democrats
vote don't they? This pattern has gone on for decades and I used to wonder why the democrats didn't make sure that people could get to vote. People have to wait in line for hours because there aren't enough machines or they break down and the other problems you mentioned. Anyone know if there are those types of problems in republican areas?

My favorite conspiracy theory this cycle is
that corruptocratic poll after poll will proclaim a blue wave, then when it doesn't happen the empress in exile will screan RUSSIA HACKED THE MIDTERMS!!! and Goldman Sachs will march on Washington, leading an army of women in pink hats and magic mexicans. A dozen generals will storm the White House and drag Trump out in chains, proclaiming a restoration of democracy. There will be a show trial, where Trump will confess that Putin paid him in hookers with weak bladders to crater the american economy (in 2021) Finally, Theresa May will announce that a bar patron in Wales has died from drinking novichok (it was a glass that hadn't been cleaned or used in 2 1/2 years) and nuke Moscow. The russian people will revolt, hand over Putin, and sign a fracking agreement with Shell and BP. The white house guard will turn in their uniforme and start wearing potholder jumpsuits, and Harvey Weinstein will direct a documentary about it all.
Except for the silly parts don't bet against it.
On to Biden since 1973
Which part is silly?
You forgot the part about Hillary being declared president.
Why should she take a demotion to a mere president?
She's the empress; she just needs to retake her tthrone.
On to Biden since 1973
Gretchen Whitmer vs. Bill Schuette for MI Governor
It’s like Clinton vs. Trump, but at the state level.
And we all know how that one turned out...
The Greens screwed O’Connor. Hahahha
Of course the only thing I hate worse the Neoliberal Dems are the fuckin Neoliberal Repubs. So that is bittersweet.

O'Connor
Balderson won 50.2% while O'Connor + green won 49.9%. Unless provisionals break majorly for O'Connor (and even then, only if almost every green would have voted D), the green had no effect. Of course, I'm sure the story will morph into one of 'The green took 1% of the vote in a 50-50 election' given time, since many Ds seem to spend more effort campaigning against greens than against Rs.
No, no
It was Nader I tell you...
Or was it Perot?....
Or was it Clinton that f'd Gore?
We'll never know.

Very suspicious that you would forget Putin, comrade.

It was Bernie buster's
They 'screwed' him over?
I see this type of comment everywhere when a close race was lost to the republicans because people voted for the Green candidate. Jill Stein is despised because she took votes away from Herheinous in the 3 states that Trump won. Why do people think that everyone owes their votes to the democrats? This is 'supposed' to be a free country, but apparently not when it comes to who people get to vote for.

It was tongue in cheek
I'm a Green voter now. B/c I will never again vote for a Neoliberal party (ie Ds or Rs).

Red is the color of necks and politics here
Interesting that Bernie and Alexandria targeted Kansas, although I think they were in MI this week too.
As I mentioned last week, the GA governors race might be a bellwether. Black woman (Abrams) vs gun toting Trumpeteer (Kemp). If she can pull off an upset, then there may indeed be a blue wave, but I must admit I'm not hopeful. I see the same pro-corporate policies from the dims as I did in 2016. I sense no ground swell of support. The ads targeting Abrams involve lots of images of Pelosi and the $hill with the subtitle "She's too liberal for GA" Ha, what a joke. Obomber did not carry GA despite record turn out in 2008.

What a meaningless, stupid label the word "liberal" has become
I think destroying the word "liberal", a very patriotic word, having deep roots in America, has been a long term goal of the Kochs and it looks like it's paid off.
Beware the bullshit factories.
The second hit ad against Abrams is now running. Hit ads
were a big part of the GOP run-off. I have seen a few pro Abrams ads, but they are being overwhelmed by the negative ads.
Kemp came from behind Cagle with his negative ad campaign. If Abrams is to make an impact, she’ll need to run a lot more ads IMO. Barnes was run out of office with a negative ad campaign. He was the last Democrat Georgia governor. It’s going to take a miracle.

I agree
we've got a past mayor of tuscaloosa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Maddox running against our current gov, Kay Ivey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kay_Ivey
It indeed would be a miracle if he won....electing dim senator Doug Jones was a miracle too...except he's as bad as a rethuglican. Can't win for losing.
It will be an interesting election no matter. No telling what could happen btwn now and then Gov't shut down, market crash, devaluing of the dollar are all possibilities.

Some additional thoughts
El Sayed was polling at around 12% two weeks ago. He has risen steadily in the polls at the expense of Thanedar. Not surprising because Thanedar was claiming to be a Bernard brother, but was clearly just being opportunistic. So I would say that Bernie and Ocasio can claim a lot of credit for moving him safely into a strong second position, which in such a short amount of time means something. As for whether he could have gotten the nomination, I think that his campaign was just catching fire by yesterday and very well could have won had he broken sooner.
Rashida Tlaib had a big win in Michigan's 13th Congressional district and will likely win the general, and she campaigned on M4A. That's another big one, in addition to James Thompson.
Is Welder still holding out any hope? Preliminary final results this morning say he's about 2000 behind but I have yet to hear any news of him conceding.
The Right to Work initiative in MO was a huge win as well. I=n all I would say this was a 6 out of 10 primary day for leftists, given the odds we were up against.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

You could probably get all of the state's union members in a local bar.
I'm offended.
How dare you post on electoral politics. Everybody knows that only imbeciles and children still believe that elections matter. Voting, or even talking about voting, only serves to prop up a fraudulent system. Or perhaps you're a paid lackey of the bourgeoisie ? Whose side will you be on when we storm the Winter Palace ?

We only have far-right fucksticks to vote for in Flawer'Duh.
The Gentricratic Party down here only gives a fuck about protecting their gravy train. Actual issues can go to hell. After all, they'll make Adam Putnam's continuation of disastrous policies work for them just like they did when Rick Scott ran what was left of this shithole into the ground.
Who do we have to choose from on the Gentricratic side? Gwen Graham, who's running mostly on name recognition and the supposition that she gives a shit about teachers, and Jeff Greene, run of the mill real estate crook and known Davos Terrorist.
Locally, it's much worse. Brevard County is in a situation where Repigs run literally unopposed because the state Gentricratic Party doesn't care about anything that isn't Debbie Wasserman Shill. Consider yourselves lucky if you have anything to vote for, because folks like me are fucked no matter who wins.
