We had a couple of 1 inch downpours in less than an hour yesterday and the day before. My nicely graded road is gullied up again. It's back on the tractor to pull it back up hill today. I already have a load of laundry going. Guess it is domestic chores day for me.

Thanks for the music and OT!

@Lookout farmers' market yesterday, so I'm going to try to make a galette before it gets too hot. It's my week to cook so there's a ton I can do today, or I can do the one-day-at-a-time thing. I tried to start some cuttings off my bolted kale yesterday, so today I might pick and clean it. I've got a couple of things coming up I can use it in.

I'm also making some "ollas" from some terra cotta plant pots for testing. Other than that it is all routine, until something breaks. Wink

Have a good one.

New Logos is up. Only one left till the 3rd act is DONE.

Always love Shakespeare, and honestly loathe the popularity of "No Fear Shakespeare" which just destroys the language in favor of appealing to the ignorant. Shakespeare, just like Greek Literature, takes TIME and effort to get to understand. There's no shortcuts. "No Fear" is like the "Krav Maga" of literature. Promises a lot of quick tricks to make things easy, but ignores any real training or work to get there.

I made a mistake, Trader Joe's did not burn to the ground, just the roof and everything inside. That's all. sheesh
Trader Joe’s begins $1.35 million rebuild at Santa Rosa store damaged in October wildfires

The Cleveland Avenue store, one of two outlets the company operated in the city, ranks among the few damaged businesses in Santa Rosa that have moved beyond debris cleanup to rebuilding after last October’s wildfires.

Property owners for many of the 29 fire-damaged businesses are talking to city officials about repairs or rebuilding, said Jesse Oswald, the city’s acting chief building official. But Trader Joe’s may be the one that draws the most interest from local residents.

“I hear more about that one than most of the others,” he said.

The North Bay wildfires were the most destructive in state history. The series of fires last fall claimed 40 lives and burned more than 6,000 homes.

Three arrested for death of Cloverdale man

“Mr. Martinez was alone inside Ray’s, but upon leaving Ray’s Market he approached a dark colored vehicle parked next to his truck,” stated a press release from the Cloverdale Police Department. “It appeared that Mr. Martinez got into that vehicle and left the area, the video was of poor quality.”

Once in the vehicle, Martinez was taken to a remote location where he was shot by Sierra. The three men then returned to Santa Rosa.

According to a press release from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, detectives “learned that Martinez and Socorro had significant marijuana dealings and the Sierra had recently threatened Martinez over a disputed business transaction.”

A couple of days ago I was shopping REI online for hammocks, are you reading my mind? Not that I can afford one, just for the clicks I guess. I like dreamin'. Also, I have been ranting like crazy in text files offline, and I typo'd peach instead of peace. Then I wondered, what if I started signing everything with that instead? Get out of my head! LOL

@eyo
out of chunks of cloth and such. I recall one dude talking abut making one from an old army blanket. must've been a somewhat smallish person. You used to be able to get netted string "backpackers hammocks" for a couple of bux, I wonder what those run today, if they still exist.

We all miss RL, I'm with you on that.

Lots of good peaches a the local farmer's market lately, we've been doing several per week, so I decided to make a galette just for a change from simply eating them raw. Plus, it's been ages since I made a rust, so I needed practice.

Have a good one and take care of yourself.

@enhydra lutris One of the best hammocks we ever had was made by jb's uncle in Berkeley from disgarded USPS parcel post sorting rolling bins. They were a thick white canvass with wooden rails from the bins at the ends for the ropes. Two people could fit on them!

Anniversary post. My grandparents got married the next day, July 23rd 1916. Then my grandpa was appointed the judge, the frame-up, blah blah blah. meh I wish I could forget California history but it's piled up around here. Today I read Oxman's statement again, it is on 100 year old legal paper, in typewriter courier font. Three pages of lies and he got away. They all got away and Mooney and Billings went to prison.

Play this at 2x speed, there is no audio it is all visual.

San Francisco's future

The San Francisco Preparedness Day Bombing July 22, 1916

Two radical labor activists, Warren Billings and Tom Mooney, were convicted and jailed, with Mooney specifically given a death sentence. Then, as Ralston’s book explains, city newspaper editor Fremont Older broke the story that the prosecution’s primary witness — who testified to seeing the two drive up in a car and leave the suitcase bomb — hadn’t even been in the city and had made up his story with coaching by DA’s office. This violation of basic civil liberties sparked outrage worldwide, including protests by sympathizers in Moscow. In a probe that would continue for more than 20 years while Billings and Mooney were in prison, several commissions produced reports that said there hadn’t been enough evidence to convict the men. “The feeling of disquietude aroused by the case must be heeded, for if unchecked, it impairs the faith that our democracy protects the lowliest and even the unworthy, against false accusations,” declared the federal mediation commission organized by President Woodrow Wilson’s administration.
