Friday Night Photos - Another 100 Degrees Edition

Extra blooming hot here, so we're moles in our dark dwelling.

Next week, I'll be doing this on family travels for a month. Feel free to fill in

Here's a selfie from a local swamp visit:

And Fred, realizing he's dropped his i-phone:

Buon viaggio!

We normally don't get that hot until late July, but we've had 7 days of it starting in May.

Anyone know what this is? I pass it on my walk each day.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@Pricknick

Well it is to me. I don't remember seeing it before. It was like the first time I saw an Agapanthus Bush in California. Or Wisteria.

Thanks for your answer.

Except for that which is flowing down my crack. 96 with high humidity here.
If you're a fisherman, the seed pods they form will have beautiful panfish worms about the size of cooked rice.
The fish love them.

@snoopydawg but I'm pulling it up here in the Chicago Suburbs. Also seeing half inch long ants whose bites burn like fire and raise red welts.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

Thanks for hosting bollox.
Let's have some fun tonight.
Who can tell us what this picture is of.
I'll be back later to see if anybody has the answer.

Thanks for playing. You win!
When I had seen many of these on my river runs I got hungry.
I'll eat a few and let the rest enjoy our warming waters.

Daenerys's picture

I don't have any photos to share this week, but some amusing bird behavior--yesterday I watched a grackle feed its youngster a chunk of suet, then show the baby how to wipe its beak off, which it then repeated and kept doing it. It was cute. The backyard birds are voracious right now; they are going through about a couple pounds of seeds a day, and devoured an entire suet cake in probably less than 48 hours. Shok I've also got catbirds coming to eat grapes and mealworms now!
Our garden is doing really well too. I'll post a photo of that soon too. The spinach and leaf lettuce is growing faster than we can eat it. The tomato plants are exploding and the broccoli is doing great. Whatever we don't eat is going to go in the freezer.

Cheers everyone!

Your description of momma bird teaching her baby how to eat is cute. Just like I enjoy watching the seasons at the cemetery you're enjoying watching the wildlife on your farm. Kudos!
