Friday Night Photos - Beware The Dragon Edition

From a couple of nights ago. Must be the end of the world:

Freddie doesn't care though. 'La la la la la, I can't hear you!':

If you've come across some outlandish beasts... or shaken hands with Donald Trump, feel free to post.

Got caught out late with a long way to go. Thankfully it was the Full Flower Moon that night. In the top right at the top of the trees you'll see an unusual high pressure wave.

but I assume I can post anyway ; ).

Evening everyone. I hope this evening finds you strong in spirit and warm of heart. It’s well and truly winter now. The last few nights dropped down to 37℉ which happens when the skies are perfectly clear. The mornings sparkle, which compensate for the freezing cold I endure until the fire gets going. More often it is rainy and not so cold. You guys must be enjoying the natural warmth of the season.

(This surreal looking sunset is my finger caught in the frame.)

Thanks for posting Bollox, and your swirling sky is very beautiful and enjoyably dramatic.

A friend just returned from a trip to NZ. He took his son as a graduation gift for receiving his masters degree and landing a well-paying job. They were in a couple of cities, and the islands for about 10 days. He said they had a wonderful time. They enjoyed a Mauri dinner, zip lining, wineries, etc. He said their only cold day was their last one there, 5/27.

I’m so happy summer is arriving. Although we had a warm dry winter, which has put us in fire danger. Rain is predicted for Sunday. I hope it materializes.

Anyway, have a lovely day! Pleasantry

@Socialprogressive

Just in case there was a big fancy prize for the first correct answer...

#1 Blue-faced Angelfish (Euxiphipops xanthometapon)
#2 Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus)
#3 Copperband Butterfly (Chelmon rostratus)
#4 Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon
#5 Leafy Seadragon (Phycodurus sps.) or something similar
#6 Blue Tang (Paracathurus hepatus)

The seadragons are related to seahorses and pipefish, and a CITES item to import, very rare and expensive. There are several variations on the theme. Some captive raised types are available from Sri Lanka.

I saw him life in Berlin playing at the old Olympic Stadium (you know the one where Jesse Owens ran in 1936 and was cheered enthusiastically by them Nazis) broadcasted on a huge screen to the area of the student housing area I lived in back then. In the late sixties or early seventies. Don't get the timelines of my life together. One record of him, given to me by my then boyfriend, I have lost. Isn't it amazing to be surprised what it is that you regret most in your old age about the life you have had. Sigh.

When we still had brighter dreams ...though the clouds were already thickening for the thunderstorms to come. But the thunder and rain make the trees grow ... and boy them trees can get old. Smile

A good Saturday Morning from over here. If the earth just wouldn't turn around itself blog life would be so much easier... Wink

Thank you for the compliment.
The lenses I use are a 105mm macro, 24-70, 70-200, and 150-600. Last nights fish photos were shot with the 24-70.

the 70-200, I picked up about 6 years ago. The most recent is the 150-600 which I got about 4 years ago. The other 2 I picked up somewhere in between. The only one I bought new was the 150-600. The others were all bought used(gotta save a buck where you can). Since you like photographing flowers with insects or dew drops you might want to look into getting a macro lens.

I was wondering where yer great bird pix were... I love the Yellowthroat, the Chestnut-sided and Yellow Warbler, the Redstart (the backlit one is very neat), 'Rufous-sided' Towhee is great too, ducks are very nice as well. Look at those friggin' Blue-winged Teal. Is the falconer's bird a Lanner or Saker, or hybrid? What about the Chickadee? The cap looks brown in contrast with the black throat if the light is not fooling me, so it looks like a Boreal.

Great stuff man!

The Dragon Edition of Friday Night Photos. I'm feeling a little sentimental tonight. My Zoebear is 13 cat years old today. And even though she's little arthritic, a little slower, and a little fatter these days, this one time NYC kitty is so happy to have her own garden to sit in.

image_20.jpg

Here she is at 6 weeks old on the first day I brought her home. She was a rescue who had been orphaned at birth. I remember this tiny little thing used to suckle on my ear lobe. It was weird and poignant at the same time. When she would get tired of suckling on one earlobe, she'd change sides, and suckle on the other one. What a strange confluence of sounds; Purring, sucking, and rapid breathing.

May my little fatty live a healthy and happy rest of her life.

Evening all, just one for me this week:

The lilacs were thick with blooms this year; I don't remember ever seeing them so full. I took this photo with hubby's phone a day or two before the blooms started dying, now they are all done. They only bloomed for a week or so. If you look closely you can see one of my tree swallows sitting on the bird house. I had to prune the lilacs away from it last fall or it would be buried in them as well.

Yesterday we went to see a huge rookery with blue herons, cormorants, pelicans and a few egrets. We also went looking for a whooping crane; we didn't find it but we did see two sandhills. I should have those photos up in time for next Friday. Cheers all!
