Occupy Trump - Move On calls for mass mobilization
Here it is, folks. Move On and allies have called for mass mobilization against Drumpf. An extract of their call's major points and link is below.
Move On and allies call for:
If the Republican Party nominates Donald Trump for president—and the odds are it will—there’s every reason to believe he has a serious shot at winning the general election. We cannot afford to underestimate him until it’s too late, as many Republicans now regret having done during the primaries. If we wait to see how things shake out to make our plans, it’ll be too late and November will come sooner than anyone thinks.
We call for:
Non-violent mobilization and organizing. What could this look like in your community? 500 families rallying against hate at the high school football stadium, or 50,000 marching in the streets of your city for love and against hate. Door to door conversations about the values that make our democracy thrive. Teach-ins on the importance of confronting hate. Letters to the editor. Vigorous social media presence. Prayer vigils. Yes, yes, and yes.
Asking every media outlet, corporation, and office-holder—from the school board on up to Congress—“Will you condemn Trump’s racism, misogyny and xenophobia?” No one’s off the hook. Decades of dog-whistle politics from political, corporate, and media elites rigging institutions and the economy in their favor at most people’s expense have fertilized the ground that Trump is now tilling for his own gain.
A voting renaissance. We know that a majority of Americans reject hate-baiting and racism—if we vote, we stop Trump, and we show that our country is better than this. We can do that while building an even more powerful progressive majority. We need to build a massive volunteer effort to door-knock, phone bank and have real conversations with voters of color, new U.S. citizens, women, Muslim-Americans, working class voters and white voters. It’s that simple.
We have seen the power of movement through the courageous acts of the Dreamers, the Movement for Black Lives, workers fighting for $15 and a union, people fighting for gender equality and against anti-women legislation sweeping the land, and more. If we stand together in this moment across movements and build together we will not only stop Trump, but continue to create a country that protects and respects the dignity and humanity of all people and allows us all to prosper and thrive. Please, join this call to action as though our democracy and our lives depend on it. They do.

Resist we must and nonviolent mass action is the only viable strategy.
Peace be with us, if we work for it with peaceful hearts,

I'm happy to note
I'm happy to note that one thing MoveOn did NOT recommend was trying to disrupt Trump's campaign events. It's better to protest outside than interrupt him when he's speaking.
For one thing, you really can't interrupt Trump - he talks in short sound bites. For another, throwing out protesters has become part of the show at Trump rallies. It helps get him even more free media coverage.

Good point, rmwarnick. I agree, he uses it as spectacle; it is
counterproductive to disrupt his rallies. Mass protest outside - in a festive carnival-like atmosphere - would work well.

A good post to that effect from David Gerrold today:

Now that Drumpf has established his own Sturmabteilung, it is time for the game to change. Providing cannon fodder for his brownshirts will probably not have the desired effect, and will certainly feed the 24/7 Drumpfmania that the media specializies in these days in lieu of actual journalism. If it bleeds, it leads: reasonable people should not feed the beast...
Well said, thanks, skod.

Thanks, wmwarnick. I've said
that for days.
And the exit polls seemed to bear out that the rally protests (inside the rally venues) may actually have helped DT, not hurt him.
I've got a feeling that there may have been a dearth of seasoned activists leading the effort; but, it's never too late to self-correct.

"We must stop looking for our salvation in strong leaders. Strong people, as Ella Baker said, do not need strong leaders. Politicians, even good politicians, play the game of compromise and are too often seduced by the privileges of power.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
I have been spreading this thought...
since I saw it yesterday on FB.... It is an IMPORTANT meme...
We need to explain what fascism is... need to help the ignorant (not the stupid) to understand what it is and what it does and how it starts...something easy to understand... any ideas?

Thanks for this, Martha. I agree completely. The time to stop
Drumpf is before he gets to the election. The German analogy is highly appropriate. During the colonial wars in Africa for independence, the slogan was, "One man, one vote." (Back in the 70s, "man" hadn't become "person" yet.) The colonialists used to say, "Ah yes, one man, one vote, once." Which, sadly, did happen most everywhere. Of course that happened because the colonialists had not practiced and modeled democracy. Anyway, "one person, one vote, once" is precisely what you get when electing a fascist as president.
This is it. It's showtime for democracy. We must resist now or lose democracy. Thank you for helping to spread the message. We're all in this together.

agree completely Martha
I believe that protesting is just as important as voting.

That is very righteous, lizzyh7. Thank you for your response.

Sure thing, thanks for putting the link up
And while I may seem righteous, it is the ANGER that drives my actions. I know you get it, but for the life of me, I cannot understand this country anymore. And I have family that will probably vote Trump and I can't stand that. If that little bit of money helps organize, then I have helped. Now the next thing is to take to the streets.

I salute your insight and your activism. You are exactly the
kind of person we all need to be in standing up to and stopping Drumpf in his tracks. We may not win, but we will make all of America understand that toying with racist fascists will NEVER be accepted. They have another think coming if they think we'll allow them to destroy democracy even if they do get elected.

Trump support reaches new all-time high
Wow, MoveOn comes through with real actual
heartfelt progressive organizing. And I had long ago written them off.
This is what we should be doing and it's my answer every time somebody tells me I must support Hillary Clinton to keep Trump out of office, should she win the nomination.
I don't trust her to protect me, people of color, or anything else, from crazy neo-Nazis--or anything else.
We must do the work to counter Trump at the grassroots.

Right on. Agreed wholeheartedly, CSS.

Is this part of the Revolution?
Again, what if Clinton moves forward and not Sanders. Exactly what are these people going to be doing with this, helping to elect Clinton?
She's a functional GOPer: mass mobilize against Trump and her.
Occupy both conventions, that sort of thing. If she wins the general, she should see mass mobilization everywhere she goes after the inauguration to keep her honest. What do you think?

Mobilize? Really?!
We've got no way to keep any of them honesty once they take office and they're blatant about most of their bullshit now.
We're still going down the same drain. What are we mobilizing for and against?
…which so-called side gets the most scraps as they loot and destroy what is left.
There's our voting system now…which so-called side gets the majority of the good cuts from the carcass of America being served.
Oddly timed
to say the least... where the hell have they been these last few months???, this isn\'t a new phenomena, and a day after Hillary kinda seals it... if I weren't so cynical eh. Of course the next move is to rally against Trump, but I can't help but feel this is a page out of the Clinton playbook.
Yes I distrust her that much.
Progressive to the bone.
