(On a ‘humorous’note): State Dept claims US has proof Damascus was behind Douma 'attack,' but it's classified

Okay, I just HAD to post this. It’s one of the most tragi-comic lines of crap that I’ve ever seen in my life! And I nust be a dirty damn Putin lover because I got this from RT!

State Dept claims US has proof Damascus was behind Douma 'attack,' but it's classified

The US State Department has claimed to have proof that the Syrian government was the perpetrator of an alleged chemical attack in Douma. It refused to make the evidence public, as the intelligence is "classified."

State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said on Friday that the US has "a very high level of confidence" that it was the Syrian government that launched an alleged chemical weapons attack on civilians in Douma on April 7. Asked by AP's Matt Lee if the US can say that it has clear evidence of the Syrian government's culpability, Nauert responded that while she cannot speak for other nations, "it's the assessment of the British government, the US government, the French government" that Syria was the culprit.

"I cannot speak on their behalf, but we've all have been having conversations and sharing information, intelligence included, and we can say that the Syrian government was behind the attack," Nauert said. The US assertion relies on "different kind of sources," including those of its own, she said.

She went on to criticize "some TV shows" that are calling on the White House to offer some facts in support of the accusations: "a lot of this stuff is classified at this point. We are unable to provide all of this publicly at this moment," she said.

So the fucking cowards only killed civilians? May they rot in Hell. And right now I hope there is a Hell for them to rot in. And in the religion I was brought up in, wishing for that in itself is a ‘mortal’ sin. I just can’t fund it in myself to care.

So does France and the U.K. They all say they have proof that Assad himself used the chemical weapons right after ISIS had almost been defeated. This is the best time for him to have used them.

However Russia says that they have proof that it was the U.K. who did the deed. The OPCW was to arrive in Syria today and start their investigation to see if the chemicals were even used. Why not wait until they had completed their tests? Yep. Because they wouldn't have found anything.

We have seen numerous photos and videos showing how the White Helmets staged dead kids in their videos and yet people still believe that it was Assad who did it. And anyone who doesn't believe this is a Putin apologist and a conspiracy theorist. I can't begin to tell you how many people are saying that.

Perhaps the OPCW will examine the sites that were bombed by the Evil Triumvirate and prove that they weren't chemical weapons research and delivery operations. That would be a poke in the eye for May and Macron and their lapdog Trump.

Lavrov: Swiss lab says ‘BZ toxin’ used in Salisbury, not produced in Russia, was in US & UK service
Published time: 14 Apr, 2018 14:37
Edited time: 14 Apr, 2018 18:05

The substance used on Sergei Skripal was an agent called BZ, according to Swiss state Spiez lab, the Russian foreign minister said. The toxin was never produced in Russia, but was in service in the US, UK, and other NATO states.

Sergei Skripal, a former Russian double agent, and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with an incapacitating toxin known as 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate or BZ, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, citing the results of the examination conducted by a Swiss chemical lab that worked with the samples that London handed over to the Organisation for the Prohibition of the Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The Swiss center sent the results to the OPCW. However, the UN chemical watchdog limited itself only to confirming the formula of the substance used to poison the Skripals in its final report without mentioning anything about the other facts presented in the Swiss document, the Russian foreign minister added. He went on to say that Moscow would ask the OPCW about its decision to not include any other information provided by the Swiss in its report.

Lavrov said that the Swiss center that assessed the samples is actually the Spiez Laboratory. This facility is a Swiss state research center controlled by the Swiss Federal Office for Civil Protection and, ultimately, by the country’s defense minister. The lab is also an internationally recognized center of excellence in the field of the nuclear, biological, and chemical protection and is one of the five centers permanently authorized by the OPCW.

The Russian foreign minister said that London refused to answer dozens of “very specific” questions asked by Moscow about the Salisbury case, as well as to provide any substantial evidence that could shed light on the incident. Instead, the UK accused Russia of failing to answer its own questions, he said, adding that, in fact, London did not ask any questions but wanted Moscow to admit that it was responsible for the delivery of the chemical agent to the UK.

The scandal erupted in early March, when former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found in critical condition in the town of Salisbury. Top UK officials almost immediately pinned the blame on Russia.

Moscow believes that the entire Skripal case lacks transparency and that the UK is in fact not interested in an independent inquiry. "We get the impression that the British government is deliberately pursuing the policy of destroying all possible evidence, classifying all remaining materials and making a transparent investigation impossible," the Russian ambassador to the UK, Alexander Yakovenko, said during a press conference on Friday.

And the OPCW is able to get in to do a ground inspection, in an area where soil tests have already been conducted and show no sign of any chemical attacks having been conducted there.

And they weren't conducted there because the US-backed terrorists were chased out of the area and their chemical work-shops were seized, forestalling the attack to be blamed on the Syrian government, 'justifying' 'regime change' to install a US puppet-dictator - and the coalion-of-perpetrators millile and bomber attack failed to allow the re-entry of terrorists to that area, whoch would have prevented an on-the-ground investigation, thereby crippling it.

They just don't know how to aim at anything else - especially since Assad had no chemical warfare facilities, so they had to kill civilians and will undoubtedly mark them down as killed 'terrorists', since they don't actually want to kill perfectly good terrorists they paid for and still have uses for, in killing more civilians when they can't get time off to go hunting helpless people themselves with drones or missiles themselves.

That and try to cripple Assad's military means of defending his people against said terrorists.

'We're exceptional, Russia is not': Pompeo takes hard line in Senate pitch
Published time: 12 Apr, 2018 23:35
Edited time: 13 Apr, 2018 11:23

Facing widespread opposition from Democrats over his political beliefs, Mike Pompeo, President Donald Trump’s nominee to take over the State Department, took a hard line on Russia in his confirmation hearing.

Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee grilled the former congressman from Kansas, who headed the CIA for the past 15 months, about his beliefs regarding gay marriage, Muslims, abortion, etc. They did not, however, object to his positions on Russia, which were in line with those laid out by Hillary Clinton after her loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Pompeo described Russia as “a danger to our country” and blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for any “bad blood” between Washington and Moscow. He also vowed to “confront [the Russians] at every vector, cyber, economic, et cetera. We need to make sure Putin doesn’t succeed.”

When Clinton’s former running mate Senator Tim Kaine (D-Virginia) asked if the US should back off from regime change and democracy promotion because Russia or another country might feel justified to engage in the same policies, Pompeo responded with a variant of “it’s different when we do it.”

“This is a unique, exceptional country,” he said. “Russia is unique, but not exceptional.”

“I mean, look at the election meddling, right?” Pompeo continued, to grins from Senate Democrats. “The words ‘democracy promotion’ and ‘Vladimir Putin’ are unlikely to be used in the same sentence, paragraph, or document - maybe the same century.”

The US should be proud of the “way we engage with the peoples of the world,” which is “different in kind” from how Russia does things, Pompeo continued.

Answering Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-New New Hampshire), Pompeo listed the ways in which the Trump administration has confronted Russia, from sanctions and the expulsion of diplomats to the new nuclear posture review.

“In Syria, now, a handful of weeks ago the Russians met their match. A couple hundred Russians were killed,” he said.

Though Pompeo did not elaborate, his comment was in line with media reports from mid-February that US aircraft and artillery destroyed a column of “Russians” in eastern Syria, near the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Neither the Pentagon nor the Russian Ministry of Defense had confirmed those reports, while the Russian Foreign Ministry acknowledged that “several dozen” citizens of Russia and other former Soviet states were killed or injured during “clashes.” The people in question were not members of the Russian military, the Foreign Ministry said.

Exceptional, all right, just not in a good way. While Russia has been exceptionally patient and restrained, up until now.

Lauria said that Syria’s chemical weapons were handed over in 2013 to the US and Russia as part of a joint international deal, and were destroyed aboard an American naval vessel. However, even if the OPCW inspection proves there was no chemical attack in Douma, “you can be sure it won’t be broadcast or printed very much in the US media.”

Though the Pentagon said more attacks would follow should Damascus use chemical weapons again, the US may strike Syria at any time regardless of the circumstances. “In other words, they don’t need proof,” Lauria said. “They don’t need proof in accusing Russia of stealing an election, they didn’t need proof in accusing Russia of trying to kill the former double agent and his daughter.”

‘US, UK & France want new intl. order with no UN supervision’
Published time: 14 Apr, 2018 21:51

The missile strikes on Syria are another step by the US, the UK and France toward creating they own global order, where they can do what they want without answering to the UN, Willy Wimmer, former OSCE Assembly vice-head, told RT.

“Since the illegal war against Yugoslavia in 1999, they [the US, the UK and France] want to have their own international structure,” Wimmer said. “They want to destroy the Charter of the UN. They are no longer interested in having an international organization, which can work. And, therefore, they do their utmost to create their own world where they can do what they want to do.”

The US and its allies carried out an attack on Syria without sanction from the UN Security Council, blaming the Syrian government for an alleged chemical attack in Douma that was reported by rebel-linked groups, and without waiting for an investigation by the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The former OSCE official warned about the danger of undermining the Security Council, saying that the organization “is the only chance for the globe not to enter a period of ongoing wars.”

“The attitude of the French, British and Americans is the same attitude, which used by Adolf Hitler in 1939 to enter into World War Two,” he said.

Wimmer, who previously served as a state secretary to Germany's defense minister, said that “since 2011, when the war in Syria started, it was, from the very beginning, a common effort of the US, British and French to destroy, by force, the Syrian state… for their own purpose.”

“Now they have to face reality, and the reality is that Syria survived as an independent state by the help of Russia and Iran, mainly, and the support of both of these countries was in strict accordance to international law,” he pointed out.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has backed the missile strikes on Syria by the US, the UK and France, calling them “an appropriate and necessary” move. But, according to Wimmer, most Germans don’t share her attitude toward the attack.

“People don’t understand why she has such an approach… for an action of Washington, London and Paris, which is aimed at destroying international law and which is a clear violation of the Charter of the UN… In our constitution, it is clearly said that Germany never should participate in a war of aggression and what the Americans, British and French did yesterday was an attack of aggression against a sovereign country,” he said.

Early on Saturday, Washington and its allies fired more than 100 missiles on civilian and military facilities in Syria in response to an alleged gas attack in Douma on April 7, which the West blamed on the government of President Bashar Assad. The Pentagon hailed the bombing as a success, saying that the three sites, which it claimed were used to produce chemical weapons, were destroyed.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Syrian air defense systems intercepted 71 cruise missiles and air-surface missiles fired by the Western coalition. Damascus and Moscow have previously denied the chemical attack accusations, saying the whole thing was fabricated. The missile strikes occurred on the same day that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons arrived in Damascus in order to investigate the gas attack claims.

‘Cynical and illegal’: Journalists, activists slam US-led missile strike against Syria
Published time: 14 Apr, 2018 18:07

The US-led missile attack against Syria demonstrates Washington’s complete disregard for international law, and its timing, before a proper investigation was conducted, raises serious questions, experts told RT.

Describing Saturday morning’s missile attack as illegal, Joe Lauria, an independent journalist and former Wall Street Journal correspondent, told RT that the strike was shocking – but not surprising.

“They did not prove that they were acting under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which is self-defense – the US was not acting in self-defense,” Lauria told RT. “They did not get Security Council authorization, and the US Congress did not weigh in on this, so it’s illegal internationally and under US law.”

The decision to launch the missiles just hours before inspectors from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) were scheduled to begin a fact-finding mission at the site of the alleged gas attack in Douma on Saturday represents “quite an extraordinary moment,” Lauria told RT. “But I should say it’s not unusual. The United States has done this kind of thing before,” he added.

Rick Sterling, an investigative journalist and member of the Syria Solidarity Movement, agreed, telling RT that the missile attacks on Syria by the United States, France and the UK were nothing less than an “attack on international law.” According to Sterling, “There is no justification for three countries taking it upon [themselves] to become the judge, jury and executioner of whether or not chemical weapons have been used. There is a process that should be followed.”

Malik Ayub Sumbal, a political analyst and broadcaster, said the strikes “violated all international laws, all international rules” as well as being a direct affront to the UN Charter.

“This is a cynical act. It’s illegal under international law, it’s illegal under US law. The administration and its supporters have no plausible story that this act will make anything better,” Robert Naiman, policy director at Just Foreign Policy, told RT.

“Even the New York Times dismissed this act before it happened as a feel-good, limited strike, a symbolic act for domestic consumption. So what can we say about the United States, the United Kingdom, and France? These are cynical actors. They’re not interested in what happens to civilians in Syria, or in Yemen, or anywhere else in the Middle East. It’s a sad day for the world, to know that these countries are so cynical and callous.”

F. Michael Maloof, a former Pentagon security analyst, said that the timing of the strikes clearly showed that the US and its western allies “didn’t really care” about a proper investigation into the April 7 incident. Finding out who is actually behind the alleged gas attack is “not really their motivation,” Maloof said.

The OPCW said on Saturday that their fact-finding mission will continue despite the airstrikes.

“They will make their decision, and if it aligns with what Russia said, that there was no chemical attack – we don’t even know if there was one, let alone if it was chlorine or Sarin – you can be sure it won’t be broadcast or printed pretty much in the US media,” Lauria told RT. “We don’t even hear very much here in the US about the inspectors arriving. That was buried here.”

Asked if he thought the US would strike Syria again if more cases of alleged chemical weapon usage emerged, Lauria pointed out that “we don’t even know that [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad] used chemical weapons this time. Or the last time. So they’re talking about ‘if he does it again.’ Well, how about waiting to find out whether he did it this time? So in other words, they don’t need proof. That is clear,” he said.

Ultimately, the humanitarian pretext behind the strikes, coupled with Washington’s disinterest in waiting for a proper investigation into the Douma incident, should raise alarm bells, Naiman told RT.

“These are the same three governments who are arming, and facilitating, and participating in the Saudi war in Yemen. The cause of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Millions of human beings on the brink of famine, worst cholera outbreak in human history, millions of human beings suffering from the blockade of fuel, medicine and fuel. These are the governments that [would] have us believe that this bombing has something to do with protecting civilians,” Naiman said.

“Does anybody in the world actually believe this military action has anything to do with protecting civilians? I can’t imagine anyone would be so foolish to believe such an assertion.”

And this has a video of the destruction caused to a scientific research centre claimed by the warmongers to be a 'chemical warfare production plant'...

EXCLUSIVE: View of science center in Syria targeted by US-led strikes (VIDEO)
Published time: 14 Apr, 2018 16:03

A scientific facility in Barzeh, north of Damascus, has been targeted during the US-led airstrikes overnight. Footage from the scene shows the building has sustained heavy damage.

The Center for Scientific Research partially collapsed after reportedly being hit by several missiles during the attack. No one was injured during the strike, according to Syrian state media.

It remains unclear whether the facility was, in fact, operational in the first place, however. Despite this, the Pentagon claimed that the attack on this facility “crippled” what they referred to as a Syrian chemical weapons program. ...

The mere fact that people can work in the area without protection certainly confirms this. One can just imagine how terrifying this must have been for the public, faced with this bombardment of freaking explosive insanity...
