Friday Night Photos - Another Lousy Snow Dump Edition!!

More snow incoming.... bleh!!

A couple of shots from last year, by the banks of the Minnehaha:

Hoping to see the sea again this year:

You'll notice that I have refrained from posting a shot of His Imperial Fredness.

Off to forage for a decent lamb vindaloo.

Beautiful river photos!

Here is the other Edwards Plateau (central Texas 'hill country') endemic specialist, the threatened Black-capped Vireo. Small numbers are found north of the plateau barely into OK, and small numbers westward to about Big Bend area, but the Edwards Plateau is the only place it is widespread and sometimes almost common in very local sense where habitat requirements met. It is the hardest to see passerine (songbird) in America IMHO. It stays in the centers of the thickest bushes, singing just feet away, and you won't be able to see it. Pardon the fuzzy pixels.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

It's been snowing here for a while now. I'm glad I don't have to be anywhere until Tuesday.
The poor birds are migrating back in the midst of all this mess. I hear the tree swallows are back, but there aren't many bugs around yet.
I saw these cormorants the other day:

I saw this nuthatch excavating his nest cavity:

I also saw some red-breasted mergansers:

^I like his hairdo!

And more hooded mergansers! They are everywhere here right now, and I'm finally getting some decent close shots of them.

^Tired of winter too?

This might be my favorite one so far:

Some canvasbacks, ring-necked ducks and a scaup

And this kestrel was hanging out near our driveway:

I also saw my first brown creeper the other day, but I haven't been able to get a photo of it yet. I saw it again today but by the time I ran to get my camera it was gone again. I was watching birds at the feeders and then there it was on the tree right outside the window. Always nice when the birds come to me!

@Daenerys

The only interesting bird I've seen recently is a grackle.

@Daenerys .and cheerio robin calls in the twilights. I have seen a few by eye, but I like being able to ID by voice. Proves I can still hear! A nice warmish day for me to sleep through. It got up to 65. Winter Wx advisory for tomorrow. Icing. Daffs are up, not yet in bud, and usually get knocked down in flower. So Wx is not unusual.

A visit from Adult Protective Services today. I am feeling targeted and not as vulnerable as they think. Assistance might be okay. As long as I am in control. Tired of cabinets and drawers being rearranged. That's what I am for.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Where are they from?

Woke up to huge flakes of snow yesterday. Lasted 20 minutes and then done. Growers here are on frost watch the next few days. 70 on Monday, 45 Tuesday. Blehh.

The air smells so good this time of year. Blossoms everywhere.

Fred running late, or is he out doing mischief? Charlie is giving Abby a bath. Why isn't her tongue full of hair?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I cropped your picture. I love this scene because it's so peaceful. Or something. Something I need tonight. My eye goes to the tree in the middle and then to the ones on the right. I'd love to be walking up them right about now. Good job.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.
