(Who DIDN‘T have access?): Facebook data-mining also used by Tinder, FarmVille and Obama's 2012 campaign
Hahahaha. Fuckerberg has been selling and ‘allowing’ data mining of Facebook for years. Cambridge Analytica is dirty dirty dirty. And now we find out Obama & Co. did the same. (That’s just a couple of ‘organizations’ to which Fuckerberg sold or gave it’s bread-and-butter subscribers personal information.)
I don’t know if The Clinton Creature got our personal info directly from Farcebook, but she certainly had access to it through the Obama organization.
At this point I’m wondering who DOESN’T have all this personal info on Farcebook subscribers.
Facebook data-mining also used by Tinder, FarmVille and Obama's 2012 campaign
Facebook last week suspended the Trump campaign's data consultant, Cambridge Analytica, for scraping the data of potentially millions of users without their consent. But thousands of other developers, including the makers of games such as FarmVille and the dating app Tinder, as well as political consultants from President Barack Obama's 2012 presidential campaign, also siphoned huge amounts of data about users and their friends, developing deep understandings of people's relationships and preferences.
Cambridge Analytica - unlike other firms that access Facebook's user data - broke Facebook's rules by obtaining the data under the pretense of academic use. But experts familiar with Facebook's systems and policies say that the greater problem was that the rules for accessing the social network's information trove were so loose in the first place.
Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg in 2007 invited outside developers to build their businesses off Facebook's data, giving them ready access to the friend lists, "likes" and affinities that connect millions of Facebook users. Practically any engineer who could persuade a Facebook user to download an app or to sign into a website using Facebook's popular "log-in through Facebook" feature would have been able to access not only the profile, behavior and location of that Facebook user but also that of all the user's Facebook friends, developers said.
Such information can be extremely valuable to marketers and political campaigns for tailoring messages, ads and fundraising pitches. As long as the developers didn't misrepresent themselves, Facebook allowed the data to be stored on developers' databases in perpetuity.

Cambridge Analytica obtained the data through a psychological testing app, called Thisisyourdigitallife, that offered personality predictions and billed itself on Facebook as "a research app used by psychologists." Facebook said 270,000 people downloaded the app. That allowed the collection of data on 50 million "friends," the New York Times and the Observer of London have reported.

In 2011, Carol Davidsen, director of data integration and media analytics for Obama for America, built a database of every American voter using the same Facebook developer tool used by Cambridge, known as the social graph API. Any time people used Facebook's log-in button to sign on to the campaign's website, the Obama data scientists were able to access their profile as well as their friends' information. That allowed them to chart the closeness of people's relationships and make estimates about which people would be most likely to influence other people in their network to vote.

Goose and Gander, you decide
Will the MSM report this?
I think not. So totally against narrative.
It's so very okay when Facebook gives user profile info to Barry for free, but when a 3rd party gains access without violating TOS, OUTRAGE!
Mark and his company have now crossed the Rubicon and the US Dems and EU oligarchs will have their pound of flesh.
You heard about the agreement Facebook signed with FTC swearing not to do this stuff? Reportedly, every violation is worth $40K to the Gubmint.

that was how Hillary was able to identify all the potential Bernie voters in Brooklyn.
On to Biden since 1973
Yeah, it had to be something like that.

For that very reason, a few of us are looking for alternatives
to FB. A group is just starting up on MeWe. It is a startup and self-identified alternative to FB. No censorship, user-friendly and so far so good. Steemit is a pile of steaming poo. I tried to post c99 there instead of to FB. You get 25 coins and once you use them up, you have to buy more using bitcoin. Fuck that. MeWe is free and there are no limits on posting.
If you use social media, come join our group. Staying on Facebook is like insisting on voting for one of the two corporate-owned parties.

Looked at the sign-in / up at mewe
I'm in the dark. Have never twittered or face booked. What are the advantages to this social media platform over, say, this site? Ideas can be submitted, debated and commented upon. Does it have something to do with hand held devices (which I boycott) or is it an age bracketed attention span thing? I just don't know.

question everything
It is in addition to this site.
C99 posts more original content. We have great writers that bring us their take on current events.
FB and MeWe is more like reddit but better imo. It requires little to no original content. It is just a place to do flop down a link and share news. Maybe a comment in response, maybe not. Some people share as many as 20 posts a day. The site automatically turns the links into a polished post, picture and all. At c99, formatting is required of the poster. Johnny has done everything possible to make that as easy for us as possible. FB, MeWe, Twitter wins hands down for ease of use for mindless repetition.

just one tweetie to add:
Zuckerberg wants to protect user data?
Their entire business model is based on selling that data. How’s that supposed to work again?
On a tangential note, I work in tech. I am lucky enough to have a job at a stable growing company but if I didn’t, FB is one place I would need to keep in mind as an exit plan so I could support my kids. But that would mean I had to keep my mouth shut about their generally evil business model.
Just another example of how wealth and power disparities affect the exercise of political rights.
