Is Trump Toast? Has this Been an Example of Mass Manipulation?

Hey, even I like a little soap opera now and then. Can't be serious all the time, although this is looking kind of serious.

I noticed that Senator Gillibrand came out today saying Trump should resign. This is after Senator Merkley and Senator Booker called for his resignation over the weekend and before Senator Ron Wyden did the same this afternoon.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/11/politics/trump-resign-gillibrand-sexual-as...

Now the accusers are banding together to retell their stories, demand a congressional investigation and the media has turned the heat up on Trump. As the CNN mouthpiece says regarding the evolution from Weinstein to present, "here it takes things squarely at President Trump".

Trump through his mouthpiece is still denying everything and even says he has eye witnesses that will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is not a sexist asshole to go along with being a racist asshole and classist asshole.

I recently posted an essay about Senator Bernie Sanders coming out and saying Trump should "consider" resigning. That was last week. Monday comes and the heat goes up.

In that essay I referred to Jon Rappaport's essay of early November suggesting what could be happening with this spate of accusations, resignations, firings, and the "Me Too" movement, i.e., that we could be seeing a giant psyop (psychological operation) designed to set the stage to take down Trump. I'll repost the excerpt I posted before and the link to his article.

Damned if it isn't playing out exactly like he called it.

"Weinstein, who is guilty of various sexual offenses, is used to start the ball rolling downhill. Other celebrities, equally guilty, are exposed by victims. The news stories take on the character of a growing fire storm.

The result? The press is seen as the hero, doing its job for once. No one can cast accusations of a cover-up. They even beat the Mossad!

Then, when the public firmly believes the press is shooting straight from the shoulder…

The Trump accusers surface on cue.

At least a dozen women emerge, with their attorneys. They give their testimony of sexual harassment and abuse.

They add fuel to what is already a roaring blaze.

The public, already in a state of outrage, automatically signs on to the latest revelations."

I mean it is important that he be brought to account if he is indeed guilty.

We have many more pressing 0roblems but we get sick of dealing with them from time to time.

I mean , who wants to deal with the overarching issue of our time: Climate? That's what Bernie ran on from the start. But it's so BIG .

Big AL and I have both said that Trump should be impeached for threatening nuclear war, but others see that as 'a waste of time.' Will they see this issue as more compelling?

This drama over his sexual misdeeds seems much less compelling imo, but hey..I clicked on it...

People are scared of Pence because of his "dominionist" Christian beliefs, that he wants Armageddon to happen and all that.
If the left would quit worrying about that and form an antiwar movement, which we greatly need right now no matter who is president, that would take care of Trump, Clinton or Pence.

this was brought to a vote last week and only 50+ democrats voted in favor of it. Quite possible the goal is not impeachment, but a constant furor over the notion of impeachment, which will give the Dems some momentum going into 2018. It's pretty much the only thing that will.

There are plenty of other people who believe that this is exactly what is happening with the Mueller Russian investigation, ctms. Not only that, but people focusing on every tweet that Trump twits. The Hillary campaign started this to take the focus off what the Wikileaks' emails were saying about how her campaign and the DNC rigged the primary. And then to blame Russian interference in case she lost the election to Trump. This has to be the only reason why he could have possibly beaten her. And to keep people from questioning why the democrats have lost so many seats during Obama's tenure.

Another reason for this is to hide what the republicans are doing while no one is paying attention to them. Most of that happened during the first 100 days of Trump's presidency. They rolled back most of Obama's last minute legislation and very few media websites covered it. As gulfgal stated up thread, the Obama administration and the Deep State are trying a coup on the Trump because he wanted to repair relations with Russia. This can't happen because of the two year long NATO buildup being put in place for regime change in Russia. This and to make sure that Hillary won the election. Obama had his hands all over it.

Trump wiretap is the REAL scandal of the US election, bogus Russia story is the real cover-up

Back on 10th October 2016, shortly after the US intelligence community published its first claim that Russia was trying to interfere in the US election, I wrote an article for The Duran in which I pointed out that the true story was that for the first time in its history the US intelligence community was interfering in a US election in order to swing the election behind its favoured candidate – Hillary Clinton – and that the practices the US intelligence community had honed to interfere in elections in other countries were now being imported to the US.

Remember when Hillary's supporters were saying that Bernie and his supporters were trying to get the superdelegates to switch their votes?

In a further article for The Duran on 10th December 2016, in the fraught run up to the inauguration and whilst the Democrats and the Hillary Clinton campaign were actively lobbying electors on the Electoral College to disregard the results of the election and to vote against Donald Trump, I said that the CIA and the US intelligence community by playing up the paranoia against Russia were engaging in what amounted to a coup against the country’s constitutionally elected President. The word ‘coup’ is now also being used by people like Mark Levin to describe what has been happening.

Trump wouldn't resign over this regardless. Unless you can convince Congress that this rises to "high crimes and misdemeanors" it won't make any difference. Even if the House turns over in 2018 (and who is expecting that?) Pelosi will take impeachment off the table.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a plan, but that ain't it.
I can't find it now, but Trump's approval rating is slipping among Republicans - specifically Republican women. If there's a plan, it's to target women with this campaign (Republican men are probably unreachable). Chip away at his numbers, then let Mueller come out with some shady business dealings from years past, and Congressional leaders might have a "resign or else" meeting with Trump.

that media manipulation is behind what's unfolding.

Bottom line, it appears to me that the Deep State/One Percent/Bipartisan Establishment/MSM began to panic, concerned that their 'Russia Ruse' may not yield anything substantial that could be the grounds for DT's impeachment.

Again, the most obvious and pressing question for me, is,

Where were all the moralizing corporatist MSM during the several-months-long Cosby trial? Relatively speaking, they were mum.

Cosby's trial was mostly covered as an afterthought, in comparison to the 24/7 coverage that we've seen since the Weinstein accusations began. Bear in mind, Cosby was actually 'on trial,' and there are/were approximately 60 documented accusations against him, spanning decades.

Then's there a former President (WJC), who settled the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit out of court (don't remember the exact charge)--and whose allegations numbered between 39-42.

Both of these 'gentlemen' have been accused of rape by one, or some of their accusers. In the case of WJC, his Party' minions/shills fought furiously to deny his accusers their story, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Monica, etc., in their quest to exonerate him. To this day, I can't stand to look at Lanny Davis, much less listen to him--whew!

Wink

(Ironically, it may have foiled WJC'S efforts and/or coorporation with 'Newtie' to privatize Social Security.)

I do think some 'good' has come out of all this. And, hopefully, it will continue to so do for all survivors of sexual assault/predation.

OTOH, I don't think it means that we should ignore, or dismiss the MSM's machinations and/or motivation for instigating this movement. I'm convinced that once the MSM gets what it's seeking--which appears to be the removal of DT from Office--this issue will recede to the background so fast, it'll make heads spin. I can only hope that the effect won't be too detrimental (for the accusers).

BTW, heard several reporters talking on a XM Radio reporter's program the other day--they claimed that many lawmakers are in a state of panic, wondering who will be next, and whether those lawmakers who've settled suits with taxpayer monies will be drug into this, or forced to reimburse the Treasury. Most of all, lawmakers are concerned that huge numbers of them may be forced to resign, changing the political landscape, altogether.

I believe that this scenario totally got away from the MSM. Since they're part of the Political Establishment, I doubt seriously that their initial intention was to ensnare their favorite corporatist neoliberal lawmakers in this scandal. For that matter, they probably didn't intend to ensnare their media colleagues, either.

Obviously I can't know, but I'm inclined to believe that the ongoing drama is highly orchestrated--including the recent calls for DT's resignation. Lawmakers could be doing this because they believe it's a 'safer' position to take (until they see what Mueller comes up with); or, perhaps they figure that taking months to make 'resignations' calls, will drag out the process, so that they won't begin impeachment proceedings until right before the 2020--when it would do the most damage.

Plus, they're probably not inclined to want to impeach DT right now, 'cause it would put VP Pence in the catbird seat so early, it might help him win the Repub nomination, and even the Presidency (since he's definitely liked by a lot of the Republican Base).

Have to admit, though--it's sorta interesting to watch!

of the breaking of the first Weinstein accusation, and the first Mueller indictment.

The results made me wonder if the MSM would have pushed the Weinstein story, if Bob Mueller had served the first indictment, earlier.

A search reveals that the accusations against Weinstein broke on 3 October. And Mueller's first indictment was served on 30 October.

Also, a quick search shows that Comey acknowledged in a March 2017 hearing that the FBI begin the Russia investigation in July of 2016.

Meaning, that by time that the Weinstein 'bombshell' broke, there had been a almost 15-month-long Russia investigation--with nothing to show for it.

I do hope that one result of all of this will be that lawmakers who've settled any kind of law suit with taxpayer dollars, will have to make restitution.

Of course, (as a federal retiree) I'm very doubtful that it will happen. Chances are that the only result will be a 'beefed up' requirement for participation in an online sexual harassment module(s).

Especially Deep State control. The bottom line here is that Trump is a wild card who seemingly cannot be reliably controlled by either Congress or the Deep State because he came from outside the political arena.

Notably absent from this discussion is Trump's policies, both domestic and foreign. So instead, the Democrats are using another social identity issue to try to get id of Trump after the Russia narrative has fallen flat on its face and has done great damage to our relations with Russia and Europe.

The Democrats are playing with fire here. The latest calls for Trump to resign show just how devoid of real policy stands the Democrats are and they are willing to install Pence as President simply to rid themselves of Trump.

As bad as Trump is in so many ways, they are willing to install a dominionist theocrat in his place. For the life of me, this makes no sense. Pence still scares me far more than Trump.

@UntimelyRippd paradigm. I was just thinking this morning of how significant it would be, but then again, maybe we shouldn't think of it as so significant. He's one person occupying one job as a federal government employee just like Franken, just like I was for thirty years. Maybe that's how we should look at it. It's similar to war crimes, we tend to believe they're different at the top when they're really not and shouldn't be treated as such.

And remove both Trump and Pence and make Bernie President according to procedures available to them in the Constitution, since Bernie is a US Senator. Bernie's an Independent so they wouldn't have to put party over country so much.

Interestingly, and OT, both Republican Senators from Alaska voted No. Both my pieces of shit, Cruz and Cornyn (however you spell it), voted with Bernie. May they rot!

@Steven D I think a sitting VP ascending to the crown will be automatically neutered, particularly Pence whose reputation would be easy to take down when the time comes. The dude is completely uninspiring except to a very small percentage of true believers.
I don't see Pence being able to do anything more or less than Trump has done.

imagining him as having power he clearly doesn't possess.

'Be careful what you wish for.' ?

It's not like we haven't had 12-18 months minimum to consider Pence. No one is 'wishing' .

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

@divineorder dominionist in the crowd, there are others but they are indeed keeping their powder dry by not declaring it openly. So we replace a sexist, racist idiot blowhard with a Bible thumping freak who thinks he and his fellow followers will be Raptured to heaven once they unleash that fire and fury on the non-believers among us? Sorry, not odds I like to play with. And I'll just add that as a female, those odds are even uglier than the pussy grabber in chief is, but hey, only my opinion. Will Democrats or Bernie fight as much against Pence? I have NO idea but I suspect the answer to that will be a resounding no.

Turns out that under the 25th Amendment, if the current President appears to be incapable, the Vice President can assume the powers and duties of the office as acting President.

“There are Thousands of Us”: Mental Health Professionals Warn of Trump’s Increasing Instability
Democracy Now!

Published on 8 Dec 2017

https://democracynow.org - As questions over President Donald Trump’s mental health grow, we continue our interview with Dr. Bandy Lee, a forensic psychiatrist on the faculty of Yale School of Medicine and an internationally recognized expert on violence. She edited the best-selling book, “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.”

Dr. Bandy Lee declares that she is not representing the views of Yale University, Yale School of Medicine or Yale Department of Psychiatry.

So I rather suspect that Cheney acolyte and wanna-be-Cheney, Pence, may be setting up to make America that medieval Christian nation and to take over the Jihad on Crusade against the world of unbelievers for corporate profiteering which his version of a primitive and jealous God intended him to reign over, using that lovely corporate/military Anti-Social National alliance which will be using him while life on the planet lasts. With Cheney et al to continue to mentor him and possibly actually run things while Pense perhaps amuses himself by punishing women for being evil temptresses (descended from Lilith and a snake?) in the All-New Dark Ages he'll bring on. Now that Jerusalem and the Jewish State are being set up as a stage for Armageddon and all. Don't worry, Super-Jeebus will swoop down and save Pence at the last minute.

Dear Gawd, I hope I'm just snarking...

Trump is a sociopathic ignoramus who's nuts, but Dominionists are psychopathic, insane and evil. Although either is still better than The Mad Bomber and the complete media and political acquiescent silence which would have ensued regarding HER psychopathic lunacy during the likely brief period before that Syrian no-fly zone, etc., made it a universally dead - and highly irradiated and ultimately airless - silence.

Edit: see the video: apparently Trump's been taking a drug for male pattern baldness which has profound physical/sexual, mental and emotional ill effects. Can't see why anyone would risk these over hair loss...

Good sign if they're really speaking up out of concern for his mental state and decision-making ability, although Duty to Warn also needs to be applied to signs of psychopathy, (such as callousness in thought, action and supported policy, a lack of empathy, even an urge to harm others perceived as vulnerable/disposable to serve their own aims,) in those seeking or holding public office. If respected, there goes a huuuuuge chunk of both the Republicans and the Dems, right there - and could establish a new standard involving the public service actually serving the public/country's good, rather than actively working against it for increases in personal wealth and power to use in gaining more, at the cost of others, in an endless spiral toward the disasters faced now by us all.

Unfortunately, at least one of the shrinks knows nothing about the political situation or the churning propaganda/censorship machine and spouts Russia crap, which seems rather suspicious in itself.

Not to mention that no such group has, as far as I know, ever spoken up in this manner about the psychopaths who've been in public office over the decades, making psychopathic arguments and policy against the public interest, to impoverish and to cause premature death and other great harm to their own and other country's citizens and countries for ever-increasing corporate profit, even to 'legitimize' the use of torture in excuse for attacks and invasions on countries not threatening them and therefore forming war-crimes in themselves, while running government, for some time... and in the video, The Times is quoted as making the same argument (talking points?) as the psychiatrists, regarding the nuclear threat Trump poses... never mentioning the pathology infesting the entire political structure.

All of the options which The Psychopaths That Be willingly permit the American people to choose from are unfit for public office and especially to be entrusted with a power to destroy life on the planet - which power should not exist at all.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

That's how I see it as well. And I'm a child of the 80s; no goddamned way am I going to normalize a far-right Christian politician; they're half of how we got into this mess in the first place. Some of them are now realizing they made a political error--the ones who wanted religious tyranny, but didn't want to burn the world down--and the rest of them are gonna party like it's 1359.

The only individuals that could make things worse, at this point, are the ones actively seeking a hot war with nukes. It's the only new development in what was already a quite insane, and hideously corrupt, venture. But it's a new development in establishment politics, meaning it's not just one or two politicians. That implies that it doesn't really matter who's in there, Hillary or Pence, or, really, Trump (you'll notice initially Trump wasn't especially interested in jacking up the wars and beating the drums for nuclear armageddon, not because he's a nice guy, but because his evil and his crazy just don't run towards nuclear destruction. He'd rather continue to exploit the planet while destroying it slowly than destroy the planet quickly with a hot war. But it didn't take long for him to fall into line, mostly; the establishment problem with him is that he's refusing to pick the right target.)

The problem with Pence is that religious extremists can be erratic and difficult to control, so we might get a nuclear war sooner even than the establishment wants one. That's assuming the President still has the actual authority to pick up the phone and order the strike--which might be a mighty big assumption on my part.

Multiple edits for clarity as I think this out.

@Ellen North I think that the OMG Trump is crazy so he's a nuclear threat! probably exists to defuse the notion that Mike Pence is crazy and a nuclear threat.

The establishment appears to genuinely want to get Trump out--eventually, after they've milked him for all the political credibility they can.
