Forgive my publishing this poem again, i must...
Granddaughters
As I write, I worry about your futures
cause aspirations of two women, queens to be,
children of presidents,
Ivanka and Chelsea
dominate your playgrounds of artifical turf
lifted by money and the media it affords
seeping into the conscious of millions
overwhelmed by closets of red shoes
They may inherit the crown
Vegas bets so
I remember when gas was 19 cents a gallon and coke a nickel
and bare feet hugged the paths forward...
some hearts were better then but not sustained
Now, we have shoes
soulless treads tweeting upon democracy
marching to the Wall Street Blues
Is as it’s forever been, seems so from history
building more roads, makes more traffic
progress moves forward in many lanes
urbane
but not Erte
not touching the grass
not feeling the spirit
not being human
insane
No more paying dues
reading for degrees
painting canvases
searching for the truth
it’s drive through, now
the queen’s wisdom
dismissing millions of girls toiling in gardens, digging the earth for knowledge hoping for brighter days
Daughters,
be not persuaded by royal blood or fear
bought
and paid
instead
draw the sword from the stone
read and read some more
cast off the worn shoes causing sores
open hearts to distant shores
and rest not
in feeding love
sharing nipples of sunrise milk, moon shadow
breeding decency into the womb
of metamorphosis
and like a butterfly
hover higher than the castle wall and
see that you are not alone.

Fighting for democratic principles,... well, since forever
"keep on trucking," my friends!
Beauty is the only thing that can solve
…universal puzzles. And shades of beauty the rest.
The confidence and courage to fly away made all the difference for me.
It's a lovely poem.
Thank you old friend...
You kind words deepen our resolve, thank you!
Once, even a glimpse of Erte would cause longing.
I loved Art Noveau and Art Deco that much.
You should re-post that poem once a month. It's beautiful--and a cautionary tale. Not many works are both.
I don't know about Ivanka, but Hillary may want to live out her ambitions through Chelsea and yon Chelsea has a lean and hungry look (maybe).

been so busy fending off
local, way-extended kkk alligators, no time for new expression, but, old is new, when facing down devils; not that i'm immune.
This weekend's shite ain't worth composting, sing that from the rooftops.
Second-hand-rose. I'm in.
Forgiven
Thank you for another reading of one of my favourites from you.

UN, 68...
sometimes i should post and get out of the way, but then...
memories of a very tall South African woman 'splaining' to we young delegates 'what it is' before apartheid became a word in our vocabulary; i should have done more, my friend.
With our matured youthful idealism.
we are doing our best.
Be well
Evening, Smiley! Thanks for re-posting
the lovely poem. And thanks for posting the lovely 'Tango' instrumental the other week. I was low in bandwidth, and only got to listen to it several days ago.
One good turn, deserves another--so, here's a tune for you, performed by a duo that you graciously introduced me to a couple of years ago.

Hey, I finally got to speak to a FBNC agent the other day, but don't have the Medigap quotes with me. I will catch up with you, when I return.
Honestly, I was pretty disappointed in them--they are considerably higher than what was quoted us. Of course, their third party insurer is BCBS of NC. The one that FB uses in TN, is not a major insurer, and has a home office in a small town--with low overhead, I'm guessing. (BTW, I assumed that you've turned 66.)

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
Music turned up loud, now...
speaking of one good turn... recall "Sit, Lie Back?" Still rests with other good puppies overlooking my desk.
Thanks for the research, yes, to being more than 66, I'm 39.
I do recall--may they continue to watch over you,
and keep you well!

you, too...
