Take nukes away from Trump - honest or dishonest initiative?

I read that my Senator, Markey, wants a bill that will prohibit nuclear first strikes.

activists and lawmakers urged Congress to revive legislation that would strip the executive branch of the power to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike.

the Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act of 2017, a bill introduced by Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) that, if passed, would bar the president from launching a nuclear strike without congressional authorization.

‘Stop the Insanity’: Demand Grows to Strip Trump of Nuclear Strike Authority

As I said in my last OP, I am done with partisan politics kibbitzing. So, my only interest in this no-first-strike stuff is the attitude of the Deep State towards a "stern" law. Clearly, such a law will only pass and overcome a Trump veto if it has massive bipartisan support.

So, why on earth would the Deep State want such a law? It would, theoretically (ignoring that the DS doesn't care about the law), also apply to the first strike they are planning against Russia. IMHO, the DS will make sure that such a law got just enough votes to pretend that our democracy still works, but not enough to override a veto. Hence, it would be just more Kabuki in our fake democracy. About what we expect from the phony liberal Democrats. Gee, I'm supposed to forget that Markey just voted for the Russia sanctions?

You won't find me getting into this veal pen. A big to-do about a piece of paper that will never become law for reasons just stated. Another G-D distraction from truly reining in our out of control military; and, instead, pretending that the likes of McMaster and Kelly are sane good guys who need our help to restrain the Trumposaurus. Another distraction from our endless economic warfare - sanctions against anyone we haven't figured out a way to militarily attack. And if the sanctions push NK into their own pathetic first strike, Markey's law will not apply; and various Generals Jack D. Ripper will get to do what they have wanted to do for 50 years: roast another country and show the world who's boss.

Politics is a joke; and this bill is just the latest one-liner in a low comedy.

Feel free to add your own speculations about the latest "sternly worded letter" from the corpo-Dems.

Anybody who know anything about the 'football' knows it takes two to order a launch. The Pres. and the Sec. of State. Tillerson is not going to blow-up Exxon...so there.

Yes...Truly kabuki theater.

I'd be far more worried about President Hillary launching a nuclear first strike. "We came, we saw, he died" did not inspire confidence in her humanity.

@edg

After Trump made his threat, Dembots went ballistic (yet again, yawn) about people who did not vote for Her. And all I can think is, "You really think the warmonger would not be just as bad, if not worse?"

Besides, we won't have time to ask Congress for permission if we ever have to use our nukes.

It's just my opinion. It can't hurt you

@SpamNunn

without asking them--and a delegation of the war power likely violates the Constitution, which requires Congress to do it, for good reasons. If the US is committing blood and treasure, it should not be the decision of one bozo, no matter who he or she is. Then again, Congress works a two and a half day week--when it's not recessed entirely. So, maybe it's just as well they delegated.

Bet they're wondering why it took them so long to get here.

No, they'll never give it up.
