Hillary will now officially lead the McResistance

leader.png

Give the Republicans some credit.
At least the GOP could maintain some thin, superficial appearance of a grassroots movement.
The Democrats are completely unable to do the same.
onward1.jpg

Onward Together is dedicated to advancing the vision that earned nearly 66 million votes in the last election. By encouraging people to organize, get involved, and run for office, Onward Together will advance progressive values and work to build a brighter future for generations to come.

The good news is that you can donate to Hillary's McResistance on that web site.

It's not that we should criticize the Dems too much.
After all, they are wise enough to learn from the GOP playbook.

The Tea Party, a Koch-backed rightwing insurgent, captured the Republican Party in the wake of Obama’s 2008 electoral victory.

Indivisibility seems a replay, but from the left. It is helping to facilitate “groups taking indivisible action.” Originally developed by Democrats to mirror Tea Party organizing policies, it is designed to promote local activities preparing for the next Congressional elections. The group claims that “more than 4,500 local groups have signed up to resist the Trump agenda in nearly every congressional district in the country.”

Double ugh. I feel nauseated.

And CNN and WaPo are reporting breaking News that Trump revealed "highly classified" info to the Russian ambassador (apparently a code word regarding info obtained about ISIS). Real hair on fire stuff according to Wolf Blitzer.

So this is a double bad horrible no good day.

The National Security Advisor was present and claims nothing was said that was not public info.

It was a meeting at which a very limited number of people were present. Who among them would have leaked this explosive story to media? Trump? The Russians? The translator, if any?

This is pretty mind-blowing. From what I'm hearing this morning, the biggest issue is that it wasn't information that originated within our own IC, it came from elsewhere, where, I don't know and that source is the one to be concerned about, i.e that they may suffer consequences due to the divulgement or that this source will stop sharing info with us since we have a President more concerned about impressing his Russian guests with his "great intel" than he is with being discreet with state secrets.

"I get great intel". It sounds like he's bragging about artisan cheese for one of his hotels, for chrissakes!

Russians info that was so highly classified that even our closest allies should not know it. That is the claim and that tweet does not confirm that claim. That tweet doesn't even confirm sharing any kind of classified info. However, we've been sharing classified anti-terrorism info with other nations for years. Sharing with other nations info about preventing terrorism on international flights seems understandable.

Besides, like it or not, he was elected President and the President is the ultimate authority with respect to what is done with classified information.

I try to remember that Trump ticked off both the FBI and the CIA even before he took office--and the media-- and I fully expect all three to undermine and embarrass him in any way they can. Not that he needs much help in that regard.

the intel originated, @Phoebe Loosinhouse .

That's the big treasonous transgression, as far as I know, and it doesn't sound treasonous to me.

Look, the US just banned Laptops in the cabin of planes. That's a HUGE regulatory move. It will cost important people lots of money. It is going to change the nature of international travel. It will force workflow changes in business and pleasure across the board.

That is the kind of regulatory move that would require some serious dialogue, I would think. And not that Drumpf is capable of serious dialogue, but it seems to me that name dropping the city the intel came from might have been necessary for diplomatic creds.

And, come on... if your source is so naked that a mention of a city could get him killed, you might want to do something about that. Don't we have a spy agency of our own?

This screams "Saddam's WMDs" to me or maybe "Yellowcake!".

I also wondered if the source wasn't Saudi Arabia. They've got great intel on ISIS.

Her positions on the WalMart board, headquartered in the state where her husband was Governor was a huge feminist victory, too. So was her being taken on by the Rose Law firm, not as an associate, but as a partner. The Rose law firm got a lot of business from the State of Arkansas and Bill was Governor. @HenryAWallace

Lol, was actually thinking specifically of Trump, not his supporters - and poopy-head or no, think he's still better than Hillary would have been, if only because people will protest the horrible stuff being shoveled out by him, where pretty much the same disasters would have been covered over by the media for the Clintons and passed under the radar of most. Also, if he responds (however stupidly, unjustly, illegally and, I suspect thoughtlessly rather than spitefully, cruelly - people were killed with those missiles) to emotional appeals, (at least from his daughter? wife? one of the two, anyway) he's likely not the sort of definite psychopath the double-faced Clinton package offered and that Pence, Ryan and the rest seems to me to represent..

Some of his negative characteristics may have stemmed, at least in part, from never having to grow up and from a bad upbringing where the rich kid's ego was massaged to the point where there was no room left within a swollen head for critical brain function. And, speaking from a safe distance, he's not as creepily disgusting to listen to as is Hillary, while his inability for impulse control at least likely tosses some incidental spanners in the Deep State works, seemingly having slowed things down a little, even if he is doing an awful lot of damage on a daily basis.

Hillary would have converted us all to radioactive sludge by now, I'm fairly sure. Which might have been a relief to women working under Bill... But I wonder if that may have factored into the shift among Super Delegates who might rather not have their hair fall out, their skin peel off, etc., while watching the world's oxygen suppliers die off from lack of sun, rain and warmth under global Dimming, should they be so unfortunate as to live that long.

Trump is also bringing people together, which can only be a good thing, although I wish people were protesting his rotten decisions rather than so many apparently doing the Hillary 'protest Trump' thing, if you see what I mean. A little public guidance rather than a STOP HIS EVERY MOVE! attitude, if he ever does anything good/less harmful to approve of, might actually encourage him to seek public adulation more often.

So I can totally see why people would have voted for him to keep Hillary out - although Jill Stein would have given the world a better chance of survival, and if everyone had voted against evil by voting for her, we'd have been a lot better off - assuming that she was allowed to win, which doesn't seem likely, in any event.

I still bear strong suspicions that a number of Jill's votes were stolen to be used toward Her Royal Coronation...

Hillary is not a 'lesser' evil.

@FutureNow

The Green Party isn't and never will be a viable option for the masses. It's reputation as fringe and ineffectual is too entrenched, and its scope is too narrow.

Personally, I don't want to join any party. I'm independent/unaffiliated and expect I will stay that way. We independents are the majority already, and I think the time and the electorate are ripe for independents to rise up and temporarily band together to topple the two-party stranglehold on our political system. I think it would be a lot easier to get people on board with declaring independence, separating themselves from the duopoly, without forcing them to try to fit into any new box.

Breaking the control of the duopoly over the entire political system is where I'm at now as goal #1. But getting enough people signed up for any new or alternative party is likely to fail, imo. Too many real and deep differences still exist among the 99%. That's why I think Independents are the key to undermining the duopoly. Then we can get on with fighting amongst ourselves over where to go. Otherwise, we're all just squabbling in the back seat and will be mostly ignored, and occasionally scolded, by the powers that be who remain at the wheel.

Independent means I don't belong to or identify with any political party. "The Independent Party" would be an oxymoron. I'm not interested in belonging to a political party, much less starting one. My point is there are more nonaffiliated voters than democrats or republicans. Whatever barriers exist that 'you have to operate within a party structure' are what need to be addressed so that independent candidates can compete. That's the exact system that needs to be challenged. Focusing on either fixing the democrats or creating a new party is playing their game their way. That doesn't work.

up
0 users have voted.

@CS in AZ @CS in AZ @CS in AZ

Agree. The point of having different parties is so that people can freely vote for whichever appears to best serve their interests according to their candidates and/or platform (assuming that they adhered to it) and to do so at any point in the process, without bizarre limitations such as having to register with the party in advance, being limited as to voting for the most suitable candidates within different parties.

This simply indicates that such parties have no interest in serving the overall public, as is indicated by concerns voiced within the Dem party that 'outsiders' might vote in 'their' elections, this necessitated in part by the use of political labeling and propaganda to divide and conquer the public in using them to weaken and distract themselves in attacking each other.

The American tradition of locking people into one of two parties is appallingly undemocratic, as is the Two-Party Trade-Off system itself.

Edited because I managed to hit 'save' before finishing a sentence.

And re-edited to anyway add the obvious point that the lack of any real electoral choice does away with any need for either party to appeal to the public via consistently delivered quality public service - instead emitting self-interested appeals involving party/candidate requests (and now, apparently, demands from the would-be public servants to their desired employers) for votes, free labour/time and money over and above what the moneyed self-interests provide them for consistently acting against the public interest.

US political parties and corporate candidates/public servants typically do not think in terms of what public servants can do for the public that employs them and therefore can do for their country, but in terms of what they, as self-appointed 'elites' (parasites) can drain the public and country of, much as many corporate CEOs short-sightedly deplete and undermine the very businesses which were licenced and exist to provide services and employment which create the livelihoods and (once-reasonable) profits on which they depend, in the interest of maximizing their own outrageous short-term personal benefits at the expense of the companies, workers, customers, ecology and society, without which - they'd have nothing.

Such large, rapacious corporations are inefficient, destructive and unsustainable - even when not directly running government. Yet the pathological corporate culture has infected government to a point where life on Earth itself is poisoned and immediately endangered to the point of extinction by the combination of blundering ignorance and pathological greed introduced into the legislative and legal processes over a lengthy period of time.

The US electoral system is designed to facilitate corruption. And the government is now effectively formed of it, as a result. Pull out and bar the corruption and there will be virtually nothing left but a gap to be - at long last - filled by a legitimate government truly of, by and for the people, as is mandatory under the US Constitution.

But a fair voting system must be a first act, directly following the elimination from all political/legislative processes of self-interests and their often-stolen Big Money.

It's the getting there that's going to be 'fun'... but it really is 'do or die'. And soon.

in 2020, not for a second. And after losing in 2020 she'll run again in 2024 if she can still be propped up on a stool by that time.

She'll never stop. Our choice for president will be Hillary or a Republican until she dies.

what do they think happens when people don't see any changes at all? I guess then no one even bothers to vote, which is what they want in some respects. They almost deserve to get it all back and fall flat on their faces with their smug smarmy arrogance.

Income inequality went way up during his presidency, more people than ever are on food stamps, the banks have gotten bigger, many people can barely pay for their health care premiums and deductibles, and instead of 2 wars that he inherited and promised he would end as soon as possible, the troops are back in Iraq, Libya has been destroyed, Syria is a mess and there are drones in 7-8 more countries. Even with this information, people still believe that he has been the best president since FDR. They also think that he ended two wars and hasn't started any new ones. No seriously, I see that written on various websites.
If people can believe that, they won't care what she does. I think that most of us agree that she is a warmonger and the evidence backs that up, her supporters denied that.
I guess that people should get their chessboards out again if she ever becomes president.

then factor in that Her hasn't got any.

Then factor in that the voters (supposedly) chose the guy they'd like to have a beer with over the boring policy wonk in 2000 (we know there was fraud, but it shouldn't have been close enough to steal).

Her is in for another massive disappointment, IMHO, unless the Rs run the real Godzilla against Her. And I don't think they're that stupid.

Who would you be calling "the real Godzilla" here? Rmoney? Jeff Sessions? Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan? Newt "Sanctity of Marriage" Gingrich?

And I thought the 2016 slate of major party Presidential candidates sucked big green weenies!

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

A pox on both "our" parties. Where else but in the land of the greed and the home of the brazen.

The only good thing about 2016 was the much hoped for end of the reign of the Clintons; should have remembered how hard it is to get rid of cockroaches.

"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon

With Hillary jumping in right after her loyalists taking absolute control of the party one must ask: For eight years the gop has beaten the electoral snot out of the democrats--is there joy in republican tonight or what?

First task I would guess, will be to marginalize and push Sanders off the national stage. She will be the voice of the democratic party dangnabit.

And Justice Democrats, oh she will kick your asses with her own set of candidates.
