predicted high 70. Two nights of zero sleep, but good reading. I take bed-rest periods during the day. Still living in Life, Interrupted. Counting down to Friday when I should be released from this third cast on my foot-to-knee. Painful shin rubbing. I lost three weeks after the dislocation due to being assigned an Orthopedist who was a hip and knee person, not a foot specialist. Not happy with that, extra insurance payouts, of no benefit to me.

Our area is still under flood warnings (2 weeks now) and streams are running high, people+dogs swept away and rescued. All of my cross-hill culverts are blocked upside and my lower driveway is still a stream. Gullies abound. It's beyond me now. Heavy equipment time.

Seed-starting inside is rewarding. Mustard greens sprouted in 2 days. Sweet peas (childhood memories) are rooting at 4 days. I now have a room that is illuminated all night, but no MJ going. The lights are all LED banks, not clear how much electric they draw yet.

On Friday, cast should be cut off. I will come home to take my first shower in 7 weeks. And throw away a set of sheets; fiberglass casts are ruination of sheets. A warning for those of you who may acquire one!

More green every day. It's very encouraging. Wink

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

@riverlover
it is a major recovery failure. Good luck with the flooding.

We had 1.8 inches last week, and another 2 inches of rain this weekend. Luckily no flooding, and I re-graded the road and cleaned out my ditches and weeps a week ago (so I'm hoping for minimal road wash).

Too wet to get into the garden today, but managed to harvest lettuce this weekend.

Hope you all have a good 24th!

In American date format 4-24-24 was easy for me to remember her birthday and age, usually happy spring celebrations despite whatever else.

Back! New and Improved: The Next Barack Obama: Kamala Harris. Just kidding, maybe not.

Who Is the Future of the Democratic Party?

Kamala Harris
Occupation: Newly elected junior senator of California, the first Indian-American senator in U.S. history, and California’s first African-American senator
Résumé: Former California attorney general and San Francisco district attorney
Age: 52
Alias: “The Ray of Light.” In the face of Trump’s win (and Hillary Clinton’s loss), Harris’s resounding victory this past election night—that of an experienced woman to a high-profile congressional seat—was considered a rare bright spot. A few short months later, when you Google her name, the search engine auto-populates with a promising suggestion: “Kamala Harris 2020.”

Okay, welcome back Mr. President: Obama apologizes for calling Attorney General Kamala Harris good-looking , because values.

I have marked todays propaganda spewing from Sacramento via the LA Times and SacBee, but it has made me kinda sick to my stomach. The Clintonites still pwn California is why. I don't want to fight about it anymore.

This futurama clip is like D 2016 campaign cartoon. Bender is Clinton, The Devil is Obama, Bernie is first born son. "Wow that was pretty brutal even by my standards." "No backsies!" And Bernie campaigned for both of them, that's the system. He's not burning, he is out talk talk talking like always. Hells bells, what are you gonna do?

for those who don't know, was the first person to singlehand(going solo) sail around the world. Been inspiring folks to die at sea ever since.
Really? I need a snark tag for that?

...and up late as usual.

I've been thinking of 'identity politics' (mainly because theres a big stink about it right now).

American culture seems to be all about 'ME' these days.

In the 30's when the New Deal was happening and unionism was on he rise,there was much more 'WE' in our consciousness. Now it's not 'WE' but 'people like ME'(US as opposed to THEM).
In a society of failing neo-liberal institutions it is understandable that we would all be broken and hurting by this. It's hard to get past 'MY' pain and situation and get back to where we need to be which is 'WE'.
We need empathy and compassion and stress those issues that are at the core of the problem.

@Arrow
a tool for collaborating and merging goals, platforms and actions. Then came generation Reagan, and afterward, thanks in part to the shifts within the Democratic party, we got identity politics as a divisive self-centered weapon to attack the left and forestall progress on anything.
