Hey Dems! It's not working!

So after getting stomped in three out of the last four elections, the Democratic Party establishment decided to reject the wishes of the progressive wing of the party, and the most popular politician in America.
I must admit that it's a bold strategy. It's not one that I would take, but then I'm not a political strategist.
So what do the post-election polls say?

Self-identifying Democrats shifted to self-identifying independents (above), while the favorability rating of the Democratic Party dropped (below).

I don't think that is what they had in mind.

Wouldn't that be nice? I do actually think that people are waking up to reality a bit at a time. But I'm also pretty sure that after 8 years of Trump a lot of people will go flocking back to the Democratic party no matter who they offer.

Sanders and Perez to Launch Nationwide 'Come Together & Fight Back' Tour

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Tom Perez will kick off a multi-state tour in Maine on Monday, where they are expected to outline the progressive plan to strengthen the party, bolster grassroots activism, and resist President Donald Trump.

"At a time of massive income and wealth inequality and a shrinking middle class, we need a government which represents all Americans, not just Wall Street, multi-national corporations, and the top 1 percent," Sanders and Perez said in a joint statement.

The circuit is officially named the "Come Together and Fight Back" tour.

Sanders won Maine's presidential caucuses by nearly two-thirds when he ran in the 2016 primaries against Hillary Clinton. The tour is expected to take him and Perez through Maine, Kentucky, Florida, Nebraska, Utah, Montana, Arizona, and Nevada—the red and purple states where the Vermont socialist swept up the kind of blue-collar support that Democrats often fall short on, turning him from a fringe candidate to a formidable challenger and bringing his brand of progressive populism to the forefront of the race.

The two are expected to speak in favor of a $15 minimum wage, women's equality, combating climate change, criminal justice reform, debt-free education, and other issues.

I have a feeling it might be Warren. She sure destroyed her favorables. Hiding under the desk in 2016 sure didn't do much for her reputation as a fighter.

Wasn't the reason Homeland (In)Security took virtually everything to do with the elections into Top Secret territory, (just between them and private interests) to make certain that The Right Corporate Candidate won hereafter?

The Dems DON'T CARE what us unwashed populace thinks about them. They are the elite, we are the losers. As long as their corporate (and foreign) sponsors pay for their perks and privileges, why should they bother their pretty heads about us nobodies?

Agree, but would add that the source of wealth is typically obtained, to at least some extent, via labour and both natural and public resources and that the power and perks enjoyed by those in politics are drained from the public and country, via the abuse of the delegated power and abilities of public office paid for by the public purse and existing to serve the public interest.

Without the public they consider so disposable, they would be nothing - as we will all return to nothing once they have completed the destruction of the interdependent natural life support system they so eagerly sacrifice to the the additional enrichment of the fewest already having stolen the most - this theft now to include all hope of any future for anyone.
