Police attack anti-war protesters

It appears that anti-war liberals finally realized that a Democrat is no longer in the White House, so it's OK to oppose stupid wars again.
Well, guess what the police in Florida think about your free speech?

A Friday evening protest against the U.S. military action in Syria erupted into violence at Hemming Park downtown and resulted in the arrests of six people, one of whom was hospitalized.
...One video shows Schneider and Crooms perched on a concrete platform taking turns with a bullhorn and leading chants of “Hands off Syria!” and “No justice, no peace, U.S. out of the Middle East” when a counter-protester who goes by Gary Snow, waving a Donald Trump flag and a bullhorn of his own, climbs up alongside them.

The two sides jaw back and forth briefly before a scuffle ensues over the flag. At one point, Snow is seen shoving Crooms, who later lunges at him as Snow reaches over an officer to flash an obscenity. Officers nearby swarm the pair and can be seen placing Crooms in a chokehold and bringing him to the ground.

Crooms, whose police report lists him at 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds, can be seen flailing while face down on the ground as several officers pin him down. An officer, identified as Officer B.D. McEwan, is seen repeatedly punching Crooms in the ribs while he is restrained.

“It should have been resolved way better than it was. There shouldn’t have been no fighting,” one witness, Tavaris Beaver, said. “For the police to beat another guy and slam another woman, I don’t think there’s no peace in that.”

Seven more were arrested in NYC.

I will always support an anti-war protest, and I will always be suspicious of the police. I'm just saying that it was a tragedy that the anti-war movement took an eight year long siesta.

Today, US airstrikes near Raqqa killed at least 21 people, mostly civilians, and while some of the strikes were near fighting between US-backed troops and ISIS, at least one of the strikes appears to have been a deliberate attack on a boatload of civilians attempting to cross the Euphrates River.

The boat was carrying about 40 people, and NGOs say that at least seven bodies, six of them children, have been recovered so far, with more missing. The US has dropped leaflets in the area urging civilians to flee toward the Euphrates, but apparently dropped a second leaflet warning them not to try to cross the river or they’d be attacked.

Any tears for these children, Donald?

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

@gjohnsit
bizarre

A slightly more convoluted strain on the left: Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the chemical weapons massacre to help Trump — distracting Americans from an investigation into Trump's campaign ties to Russia by provoking the missile strike.

That theory — evidence-free — was laid out on a small anti-Trump website shortly after the missile strike.

But it went mainstream Friday night, when Lawrence O'Donnell advanced similar speculation on his MSNBC show, “The Last Word.”

“Wouldn't it be nice,” O'Donnell asked a nodding, smiling Rachel Maddow, “if it was just completely, totally, absolutely impossible to suspect that Vladimir Putin orchestrated what happened in Syria this week — so that his friend in the White House could have a big night with missiles and all the praises he's picked up over the past 24 hours?”

The theory was impossible to rule out, O'Donnell said, because of the Trump campaign's ties to the Russian government.

Putin has not yet been accused of:

- kitten punching
- double parking
- pirating cable TV
- removing tags from mattresses

@gjohnsit
being discussed here.
The stunning hypocrisy of not only our government but of the number of people who don't care about the civilians that our military kills is what I will never understand. And the soldiers or airmen who deliberately killed those civilians are as guilty of war crimes as are the people who ordered the attack.
I thought that once people watched the Collateral Murder video that Manning released would get people talking about the war crimes that our military was doing, just like when the My
Lai massacre In Vietnam did and brought more people out to protest the war.
But since 9/11 this country has lost its consciousness and too many people think that our military can do nothing wrong because it's defending us from the ever increasing groups of terrorists.
They believe that our military and government have the right to invade any country it wants and if civilians are killed then "they should either fight back against them or never have let them into their country " or some other BS comments.
The people who commented in the diary about Lawrence O'Donnell's wild theory are in no way liberals. They have completely lost their f'cking minds and all sense of rationality which as you pointed out after the 8 years of being MIA once Obama became president.
Even though Trump was doing what Hillary said should happen by launching bombs on the Syrian air base, people on DK said he was only doing it because Putin told him to or that he was wagging the dog so that people would stop accusing him of being Putin's puppet.
Who the hell could hear this and believe it?

“Wouldn't it be nice,” O'Donnell asked a nodding, smiling Rachel Maddow, “if it was just completely, totally, absolutely impossible to suspect that Vladimir Putin orchestrated what happened in Syria this week — so that his friend in the White House could have a big night with missiles and all the praises he's picked up over the past 24 hours?”

Sure Lawrence, that would be really nice if Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump orchestrated the heinous deaths of those children so that Donald could have a big night with missiles
and get all the praises he has picked up over the past 24 hours.
Good lord, how the hell can anyone believe that shit? Or even think of saying it?

Remember how many people were okay with these actions by the police?IMG_1003.JPG

Remember when Israel was killing civilians in Gaza and after launching so many bombs that they ran out and congress voted to send them more and Obama defended their actions and said that "no country should have to tolerate another country launching bombs on them?

I have posted this video of Obama's and Hillary's hypocrisy of defending their actions against Gaddafi and their invasion of Libya.
I hope you watch it.

Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.

@snoopydawg but I think everyone needs to see it! and this is just a small sample of what the PTB probably have in store for a many more of us. I don't know when ( if ever ) people are going to wake the fuck up to what is going on in the world.

@pro left
for them to do so, but if they do finally wake up it's probably going to be too late.
A lot of people cheer the police actions when people protest against anything, especially those 'libtards' on the left such as OWS and BLM.
The saying " first they came for..... and I didn't say anything is a lesson that they need to learn.
Most of our rights have been taken away and the amount of information revealed by how much they are spying on us and that they are able to get inside our phones and computers doesn't seem to have had any effect on them.
They are still saying that they don't have anything to hide so let them spy on me, but they don't understand that they can implant any information on their devices they want.
There was a reason why they militarized the police. It's one way to get around Posse Comitous (so)
but what other reason for them to do it?

@snoopydawg The let them spy on me, I haven't done anything mentality is beyond my comprehension. I am old enough to remember the protests in the 1960s but I was to young to participate and growing up in Chicago the shit that happened here ( Democratic convention and riots due to MLK being assassinated) in 1968 are fresh in my mind, Imagine if the police were as militarized then as they are now. That is the future for our children and grand children that I really have a hard time thinking about, that is if climate change doesn't get us first.

@gjohnsit the Euphrates River? They were getting a welcoming shower by immigration officials.

On a more serious note, this could be 1968 redux if the Trumposaurus does escalate war in Syria further. What sickens me is the Amen Corner of the DemonRATic party cheering O'bomber and Killery when they went on their merry way, killing and maiming in the name of peace, harmony and the American Way.

Fighting in the streets.

Hey, this is just an energy-saving practice session here.

Once the tar-sands pipeline is leaking running under the river-bed which supplies water to millions of people and upon which much other life depends, and the river becomes a solid, sludgy tar-pool, people will likely become dizzy from the toxic fumes and fall in. So these nice mercenaries/police are just practicing to make sure that none of that precious tar-sand goo black gold gets carried out by anyone managing to make their way out of it alive.

How much greener could they possibly get?

Edit: and when their own children tell them, 'Daddy, I'm so thirsty' and there's no potable water for them to drink, they can tell the kids to eat yellowcake. Tough love, ya know.

And edited again to add a forgotten word. I'm keeping the swears, though, because I'm saving them up.

Here is his take on Trump's actions.

White House Infighting
In this telling, the earlier ouster of retired Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser and this week’s removal of Bannon from the National Security Council were key steps in the reassertion of neocon influence inside the Trump presidency. The strange personalities and ideological extremism of Flynn and Bannon made their ousters easier, but they were obstacles that the neocons wanted removed.
Though Bannon and Kushner are often presented as rivals, the source said, they shared the belief that Trump should tell the truth about Syria, revealing the Obama administration’s CIA analysis that a fatal sarin gas attack in 2013 was a “false-flag” operation intended to sucker President Obama into fully joining the Syrian war on the side of the rebels — and the intelligence analysts’ similar beliefs about Tuesday’s incident.
Instead, Trump went along with the idea of embracing the initial rush to judgment blaming Assad for the Idlib poison-gas event. The source added that Trump saw Thursday night’s missile assault as a way to change the conversation in Washington, where his administration has been under fierce attack from Democrats claiming that his election resulted from a Russian covert operation.
