McCain uses Defending the Nation BS to Threaten Social Security Payments

mccain.jpg

Eighty year old warmonger and war criminal, make no mistake about that, John McCain, a perfect example of why our political system must be changed, continued his insane quest for a special place in hell.

"Sen. John McCain said Wednesday he will do whatever it takes to make sure that military spending is increased in the next spending bill even if that means shutting down the government.

The Arizona Republican told CNN he wouldn't vote for a continuing resolution, a funding bill that maintains the previous spending levels. When asked how far he would go, McCain said he only had one vote, but that he wouldn't rule out a shutdown.

"If that's the only option. I will not vote for a CR no matter what the consequences because passing a CR destroys the ability of the military to defend this nation, and it puts the lives of the men and women in the military at risk," McCain said. "I can't do that to them."

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/29/politics/john-mccain-cr-continuing-resolut...

McCain is going to be McCain. American citizens, particularly those in Arizona, that believe his bullshit deserve scorn. They might be ignorant, misinformed, or just plain stupid, but they deserve scorn for believing an insane man's delusional ravings.

I know many people surviving on social security payments. I know many people surviving on military and federal government retirement benefits. I know many federal employees and contractors who depend on the federal government for paychecks in order to buy food and pay for health insurance. Many, like myself, are veterans like insane McCain.

As a thirty year federal government employee, I went through this budget shutdown drill many times. We had two actual shutdowns in 95/96 under Clinton and another in 2013 under Obama and many others and many close calls under previous administrations. It's always because of politics, disagreements among our SO CALLED political representatives that result in the inability to pass a budget which causes a government shutdown.

For McCain and many other of our SO CALLED political representatives (I'm getting worse), their disagreement, unless they get their way, will be because of not getting more money for war and imperialism. McCain is as despicable a politician as we've had in this country. His ultra conservative views, collaboration with terrorists, and absolute support for the killing fields of imperialism are traitorous.

A government shutdown would not affect the military's ability to continue it's activities for U.S. imperialism. McCain's narrative that the military is for "defending the nation" is pure bullshit and those serving are nothing but "gangsters for imperialism". That is an extremely hard truth. Those that believe McCain's bullshit need to stop watching John Wayne reruns and wake up to reality. He's playing to the emotions of dupes for political gains for the rich and powerful, not the men and women in the military. He doesn't give a shit about them and that's not who he works for.

We won't stop any wars or U.S. imperialism in general allowing these false narratives and lies from our SO CALLED political representatives to go unchallenged. Unfortunately, the corporate media will not do that, it will continue to spread those false narratives and lies as truth. The alternative media and concerned citizens must challenge the lies, false narratives and propaganda.

We already spend more than every other country combined. Why do we have to spend more? If he believes there is a threat that justifies an increase, he should say what it is. Are the Borg on their way? Did Hitler clone himself? What's the deal, Johnny?

@SparkyGump It's like Trump laying all his eggs on defeating ISIS and saying he needs the biggest military even assembled to do it, after this country has been supposedly fighting the war OF terror for 15 years. There's only two reasonable conclusions. We've got the most inept military ever, or it's all bullshit.

@Big Al and I think Johnny boy is just trying to stay relevant in many ways. Why he does not just retire and enjoy the spoils he's gotten by "serving the people" and get out of our lives. He is just one more old war pig who can't give it up.

As for the people who vote for him, damned right they deserve nothing but scorn. My mother would be right there with him, calling for cuts while she lives OFF OF government, my Tea Bagging stepmother is most likely right on board too. Do they have the ability to see their own stupidity? Why yes, yes, intellectually they damned well do. And that is my biggest problem with these idiots.

When their was a difference

29 MARCH 2017
FDR's Letter to the Democratic Convention Delegates in 1940

Franklin D. Roosevelt Letter to the Democratic Convention
July 18, 1940

Members of the Convention:

In the century in which we live, the Democratic Party has received the support of the electorate only when the party, with absolute clarity, has been the champion of progressive and liberal policies and principles of government.

The party has failed consistently when through political trading and chicanery it has fallen into the control of those interests, personal and financial, which think in terms of dollars instead of in terms of human values.

The Republican Party has made its nominations this year at the dictation of those who, we all know, always place money ahead of human progress.

The Democratic Convention, as appears clear from the events of today, is divided on this fundamental issue. Until the Democratic Party through this convention makes overwhelmingly clear its stand in favor of social progress and liberalism, and shakes off all the shackles of control fastened upon it by the forces of conservatism, reaction, and appeasement, it will not continue its march of victory.

It is without question that certain political influences pledged to reaction in domestic affairs and to appeasement in foreign affairs have been busily engaged behind the scenes in the promotion of discord since this Convention convened.

Under these circumstances, I cannot, in all honor, and will not, merely for political expediency, go along with the cheap bargaining and political maneuvering which have brought about party dissension in this convention.

It is best not to straddle ideals.

In these days of danger when democracy must be more than vigilant, there can be no connivance with the kind of politics which has internally weakened nations abroad before the enemy has struck from without.

It is best for America to have the fight out here and now.

I wish to give the Democratic Party the opportunity to make its historic decision clearly and without equivocation. The party must go wholly one way or wholly the other. It cannot face in both directions at the same time.

By declining the honor of the nomination for the presidency, I can restore that opportunity to the convention. I so do.

The guy should have done time for what happened with Charles Keating Bastid was guilty as Hell. But he's not suffered one bit from his dishonesty.

McCain: The Most Reprehensible of the Keating Five

Obviously, Keating thought you could make it to the White House, too.
He poured $112,000 into your political campaigns. He became your friend. He threw fund raisers in your honor. He even made a sweet shopping-center investment deal for your wife, Cindy. Your father-in-law, Jim Hensley, was cut in on the deal, too.

Nothing was too good for you. Why not? Keating saw you as a prime investment that would pay off in the future.

So he flew you and your family around the country in his private jets. Time after time, he put you up for serene, private vacations at his vast, palatial spa in the Bahamas. All of this was so grand. You were protected from what Thomas Hardy refers to as "the madding crowd." It was almost as though you were already staying at a presidential retreat.

*

And, of course, that's the way it is with the Keating Five. You are all battling to save your own hides. So you, McCain, leak to reporters about who did Keating's bidding in pressuring federal regulators to change the rules for Lincoln Savings and Loan.

Every night when he falls asleep he re-lives his shoot down and subsequent imprisonment for 5 1/2 years by the Soviet backed People's Army of Vietnam. When he awakens in a cold sweat, he renews his vow to make sure the US can never again lack the strength, power and ability to obliterate such a pissant little country like Vietnam in a few weeks or six months at most.

There have been reports from credible sources that the Beach Boys' song, Barbara Ann, was repeatedly played in his cell, day and night, until his mind was shattered. He never truly recovered. McCain's mind has remained cracked to this day (which perfectly explains his choice of Sara Palin as running mate).

Judge for yourselves. How long could you continually listen to the following? One week? Six months? Imagine five years!

@native

one that was differently shaped.

I'm not good at deciding what the administrations of imaginary Presidents were like. So, I don't what McCain's administration would have been like. Hell, I am the first to admit that even my assumptions about Obama's Presidency in 2008 were out in left field. However, I am not awful at observing what happened during an actual President's administration.

For example:

Obama cut "entitlements" and put Social Security and Medicare on the table. Clinton eviscerated welfare. Thanks to New Democrats, the barn door is not only now wide open, but there's a huge, blue welcome mat. When a Republican President does things like that, Democrats resist. When a Democratic President does things like that, Congressional Democrats either stay mum or say oxymoronic things, like "Cutting the cost of living increase {which is already a joke} is not a cut to Social Security." Now, Republicans can say, Hell, even liberals Clinton and Obama knew this crap had to be cut."

We are waging war in and/or on, what? seven Middle Eastern nations now, or is it more? Maybe McCain would have gone to war in Iran rather Tunisia or Yemen, but, realistically, how many countries could any President war in, given the size of our volunteer military?

Obama's drone killings in 2016 were not only more than Bush's drone killings, but ten times more.

And so on.

Actually holding office changes people. For example, two of the most liberal justices ever to sit on the SCOTUS, Warren and Stevens, were both nominated by Republican Presidents, with Souter not far behind. And Ford's nominee, an old school Irish Catholic guy, wrote the majority option in the gay marriage case.

of the indoor meeting, taken by his staff on the same day as the outdoor photo you posted above, McCain met with at least one person on the State Department's Most Wanted Terrorist list. I think he met with two. In any case, I call this photo the money shot because he was there to invest in these killers using my tax dollars. I want McCain to be brought to justice now.

John McCain slips into Syria to meet rebels
By Raf Sanchez, Washington 27 May 2013

John McCain slipped into Syria to meet with rebel leaders and listen to their calls for US airstrikes against the Assad regime and its Hizbollah allies.

The 76-year-old Republican senator has been a staunch critic of the White House's policy of non-intervention in Syria and his visit is likely to add to growing pressure for the US to step up support of the rebels.

The one-day visit, first reported by The Daily Beast, saw Mr McCain meeting with opposition leaders in Turkey before crossing briefly to the Syrian side of the border at Bab al-Salameh.

The meetings brought together 20 different commanders from rebel brigades across Syria under the auspices of the Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council...

The credit on the photograph says:

John McCain, right, meets with Syrian rebels. (Picture: Elizabeth O'Bagy / Syrian Emergency Task Force)

McCain's meeting in Syria with rebel leaders took place in May 2103. Immediately after the photos were released by Sen. McCain's office and posted on his website, people who knew the identities of members of Al Qaeda pictured in the outdoor photographs pointed out that he had met with Al Qaeda members who were involved with kidnapping for ransom. After ISIS had taken over territory and committed atrocities in Iraq and Syria during the following year, people also noticed that one of the people pictured in the indoor photograph bore a striking resemblance to Al Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, who was later identified as a former Baathist prisoner in Iraq, released by U.S. forces. I believe another Baathist killer associated with ISIS is also in the indoor picture. The resemblance is not as striking, but the fact that McCain was providing startup funding to these forces makes me believe it is he.

John McCain denies he knowingly posed with with 'rebel kidnappers' in Syria
By Sarah Titterton, 30 May 2013

John McCain has denied that he knowingly posed in a photograph this week with Syrian rebels who kidnapped 11 Lebanese Shi'ite Muslims.

The photograph, released by Mr McCain's office, shows the US senator standing with a group of rebels during his highly-publicised trip to Syria this week.

Two of the men in the image are Mohamed Nour and Abu Ibrahim, claimed Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star. The men are described as being part of a group who kidnapped 11 Shias last year.

They were identified by one of the kidnap victims, Anwar Ibrahim, who along with one other hostage has since been freed, the Star said. Negotiations over the freedom of the other nine are still ongoing.

"I recognised him (Nour) immediately. He was the photographer who was brought in to take our photos [during captivity]. He works with the kidnappers. He knows them very well," Mr Ibrahim told the Star...

I know you deserve more of a response than this sketchy outline, and I will try to present a more complete response soon. Meanwhile, I hope you will look up as much as you can find about this issue. Al Baghdadi is the terrorist described in the State Department link and is the leader of ISIS. Many people believe he is the person in the black shirt in the meeting photographs.

wearing the military uniforms of their true nations, we are very bad at differentiating between a Vietnamese who is on our side and one who is our enemy. Same thing in Korea. Same thing in Iraq. Same thing in Syria. Etc.

Yeah, showboater McCain, for whom I have no love at all, got caught on camera with members of the wrong faction, but it could just as easily have been Pelosi, for whom I have only slightly more love than I have for McCain.

Rand Paul sparks firestorm with claim that John McCain posed with ISIS-linked jihadists in Syria
By David Martosko, 19 September 2014

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul was walloped on Thursday by a series of media reports that concluded he was wrong to claim fellow GOP Sen. John McCain of Arizona unwittingly met with ISIS terrorists when he held a secret 2013 meeting with rebel leaders in Syria.

'Here’s the problem,' Paul told The Daily Beast on Tuesday. 'He [McCain] did meet with ISIS, and had his picture taken, and didn't know it was happening at the time.'

Paul contends that the Obama administration's effort to 'train and equip' moderate Syrian rebels against ISIS, the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, is foolhardy because the U.S. could wind up arming radical jihadis if alliances shift in the future.

The McCain photos, he said, show 'the quandary of determining who are the moderates and who aren’t. ... The objective evidence is that the ones doing most of the fighting and most of the battles among the rebels in Syria are the radical Islamists.'

On the Senate floor Wednesday, Paul doubled down. 'We don't even know who is in charge of the Free Syrian Army,' he said 'They voted out one guy, and in another, and he didn't even know they were voting. There are estimates that half of the Free Syrian Army has defected to al Qaeda and ISIS.'...
