Democrats Dumb Enough to Confirm Gorusch?

Short and sweet: Politico is reporting that mostly unnamed Democrats (although it sounds like both Coons and Manchin are in this group of approximately 6) are looking to cut a deal where they confirm Gorusch in exchange for...Republicans not eliminating the filibuster next time around, which is just about the most idiotic thing they could exchange their votes for.

If Dems think the GOP will keep any promises then they haven't been paying attention.

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams

for example Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat. If the Republicans use the "nuclear option" now then they will get to seat a hard right ideologue later and really move the court to the right. So I can see the dem's point, but I might bargain harder for a liberal justice if Ginsburg steps down now, that is 2 for 1, but both at once so no shenanigans, and no change in the political makeup of the court. Good luck with all of this, though.

Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

That'll play well in the electorate.

which are Dem Senators in Red States that the party honchos are afraid will lose their seats, making the Senate filibuster proof so no nuclear option is even necessary. That would appear to be Manchin, McAskill, Tester, Heitkamp, Donnelly, and Stabenow, I would think. Then you have the dilemma of the Swing State Senators that recently went from Blue to Red, although I don't personally think those guys will go for Gorsuch, but you never know. Then of course you have Mark Warner who is Republican in his heart IMO and Kaine who is the centrists centrist who I would bet go for Gorsuch just because want to be bi-partisan more than they want to be Democrats and compromise itself is the end, not the means.

This reminds me when the Dems gave Blue Dogs in the House permission to vote against the ACA for the same stupid tactic of thinking it would inoculate them against a Republican opponent in their re-elections, which it didn't, and which either enraged or depressed their own base and gee, what a surprise, a lot of them lost, including mine. Just because this strategy has lost a hundred times, doesn't mean it won't be a winner the 101st, right, Dems?

Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.

It seems to me that Trump could have picked a much worse nominee and maybe will if Gorsuch is blocked.

I hope we don't hate Gorsuch just because of who nominated him.
