Tomorrow's the Big Day: Any Predictions?

Hey folks of C99!

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM9Bph-mF1c]

No, not quite there. Got one more day until Trump is sworn in.

So what is this then?
Well...

This is the Prediction ROUND.

Here we at C99 will ponder at what may happen tomorrow at Trump's inauguration

ISIS attack?
Russian betrayal?
Chinese covert strike?
Lone gunman?
Mass protests and potential riots?

And the answer I'm leaning towards...
Nothing will happen.

So C99, what do you think?

for his regular checkup (blood work to make sure he isn't getting anemic again, overall health, etc.).

That actually matters to me, more than any silly media circus in Loonytown, DC.

There'll be a coup d'etat at central command headquarters of the Coriolis Force and US toilets will swirl counter-cloclwise. American Standard will be devastated, but curiously, Kohler will have anti-cyclonic models on the shelf within hours. The most popular color for the new thrones will be a budget-minded FeS2 vapor-deposited finish that tends to loose luster fairly quickly. Cory Booker and 12 other Dems will vote to block an amendment to import more affordable Australian toilets because millimeters.

Keith Olbermann will release a series of video screeds about Kremlin skulduggery while Rachel Maddow will take the opposite approach and present thoughtful innuendo on Kremlin skulduggery.

Edit - comment on formatting. I just don't get the comment indent formatting. I entered this comment via the "Add new comment" thingy at the bottom of all the comments. It is labeled #4 yet is indented to look like a reply to comment #2.

For different reasons every faction will party. The Republicans will party because they finally have a Republican in the White House, although he is not really a Republican. Middle America will party because their man, the King of trashing the establishment, is in power and they expect the swamp to be drained, although the fauna will be changed, not drained. The Democrats will throw a protest party, although centrist, war-hawk Democrats caused this disruption in regular programming. So enjoy the celebration, whatever yours may be.

Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

The "get rid of two" for every one new regulation will be interesting. What has de-regulation ever been good for? Anything? I can't recall someone help. Grasping.

@eyo

What has de-regulation ever been good for?

Income inequality. It's been flippin' great for that...depending, of course, upon which side of the chasm one lives.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

I am not ready, haven't even started digging my bunker yet because I lingered too long in denial. Wink

"We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."

I'mma head on down to the co-opt store and buy me some big ole poster board paper and write out some protest slogans that will make it impossible to mistake me for a Hillary-mourner. While I'm there, I'm buyin' up another 1,000 year supply of toilet paper, but I'm considering getting 2,000 years' worth, since these 1,000 year floods keep happening every year, and the supply I bought for Obama's Inaugural and subsequent reign, I mean, terms, only lasted about a year and a half. This time I'm readin' the fine print though because I belatedly realized that bovine excrement requires about 500 standard size sheets per "event" if you buy regular strength. Pro tip: Don't even look at the single ply. It's worthless.

All kidding aside, I will ignore this "special" occasion with every fiber of my being. (No "fiber" pun intended, but it's gross, so I thought of it when I was proofreading.) It's way more depressing now that I know for sure that the Democrats won't do anything meaningful to stop him unless it's something I might actually want him to do, not that I think he will. They're too busy fighting him for which one requires more of my stockpile of TP. So far, it's a draw, which is, again, more depressing than any silly jokes I try to make can alleviate.

I would kinda hope that his ego takes a beating based on attendance and ratings, but too many people like to hate-watch TV shows they don't like, so they can mock and laugh. That will no doubt inflate the numbers, except now that he's no longer going to have that "-elect" tag, anybody that laughs is far more nihilistic than I could ever be.

Marching and protests have certainly been used with great success by past movements to foment real change, but if those marches and protests are merely outpourings of discontent because a particular politician won or lost with no solid plan of action or follow-through, then what’s the point?..
When all is said and done, it won’t matter who you voted for in the presidential election. What will matter is where you stand in the face of the injustices that continue to ravage our nation: the endless wars, the police shootings, the overcriminalization, the corruption, the graft, the roadside strip searches, the private prisons, the surveillance state, etc.

@gjohnsit I agree with this, but I need a break from the shit-show, and tomorrow seems like a fine day to take one. It may last more than a day. Also, I live in red-state-hell, so it takes all I can do most days not to accidentally hear somebody at work that I otherwise like say something that makes me completely lose all respect for them. I'll be back next week maybe. Good luck to us all!

Rum and tonic, twist of lime. Put the inauguration on the little monitor, no sound. Greenday videos on the big monitor, right next to little. Crank up the sound. Sober up, see what the smart people have to say tomorrow.
