Here's your OT
Who knows what reality consists of or even what it really is about. If you base your earthly reality on what you read or see the world wide web or the 'media' which is a loose term that defines public opinion and what used to be called news you are operating on some kind of absurd delusion/illusion. The current masters of the universe who adhere to a cult of ancient and modern human nastiness have somehow managed to redefine reality. It's a now a really scarey proposition that needs us all to let go of every bit of humanity, sanity and decency we possess. It's like the Tower of Babel wherein we all speak different languages but none of them seem to reflect the universal human condition. This condition is not good, not at all good, and yet we seem willing to argue with every pissant who posts on our computer. We address the evil fucks with due respect. Who respects this drivel. The Lord seems to.
And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.
And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.
Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.— Genesis 11:4–9[10]
Germs are gonna get you. Russians (even though they aren't commies anymore) are gonna get you, Republicans are gonna get you, 'terrist's are gonna kill yer family'. Worst of all the Caliphate resurrected from the Ottoman Empire and centuries before is going to destroy western civilization. Don't even get me started on what the home grown lunatics are going to do to us all if we don't vote for Killary. They are all out to get your American way of life. This reality has come to our home land, where we now kill anything that threatens all of us who don't believe a word of this shit. Literally or by squelching any resistance to this false hysterical reality we all argue around this false reality as it is 'inevitable'.
Read it daily its how we roll and what we believe. Get your red hot propoganda and lifestyle tips right here it's reality it's your life. Vote in this big data poll to see how it's gonna win the war on democracy. Do not forget to be polite and show respect to the purveyors of fascism on the net regardless of what they promote as we all need to be civil and respect the Democratic false reality as it's winning in the polls of mass deception.
In my youth I read Marshall McLuhan's The Message is the Medium. I thought he was spot on even though I was living in a tar paper shack in a cranberry bog with no phone, no heat or cooking other then wood chopped by axe. So it goes. None of this makes sense if you are connected to mother earth.
'All media exists to invest our lives with artificial perception and arbitrary values.'
'Every innovation scraps its immediate predecessor and retrieves still older figures – it causes floods of antiques or nostalgic art forms and stimulates the search for museum pieces.'
So anyway good morning to you all fellow caucus99er's and fuck them all if they can't take a lawyer joke. No offense intended to you lawyers here there and everywhere. Politics these days are an exercise of the absurd. It is based on pick your poison and listen to the most convincing snake.
What do you call a lawyer gone bad? Senator.
But hell what do I know I'm just 'a barfly with one dairy to my name]'. That one dairy I did post does seem to me to ring true.

God Bless America man
It really takes effort to fight off the illusions and manufactured realities. I was in a discussion the other day about Samuel L. Jackson and I called him a fucking sellout because of those damn credit cards he hawks for the .01 Percent. The conservative fuckers I was talking to just couldn't understand my angst, one even asking me sarcastically if I was going to boycott my Iphone too. Well, I've never owned an Iphone, never have and never will. I've had a cell phone for maybe 6 months of my life, a pay as you go that I quickly gave up on. I haven't had a credit card in 20 years. They just couldn't understand donchaknow, I could be getting airline miles so I can go to our fascist airports and get strip searched before going to Sacramento.
I boycott everything that needs to be boycotted. Now I'm boycotting Tom Brady and the New England Patriots because he supports Trump. I remember a few years back Ted Nugent was playing in the Northwest, at a couple Indian casinos no less, this after he had called Native Americans "savages" or something like that. I emailed the casinos and asked them what the fuck they were doing having this racist asshole give a concert at their places and told them what he had said. Two of them cancelled his shows right away and thanked me personally, and others I assume, for bringing it to their attention. That's just the stuff we have to do. Create our own reality.
So ya, I'll get back into the election boycott soon, we'll see how Bernie shakes out. If it's Clinton vs. Trump, not fucking way should we accept that.
yeah, cell phones
I've got one but it's not an iPhone for sure. It's the cheapest model available. No internet connection, no taking photos and posting them on Facebook. It's no surprise that someone wanted to know what you'd do with your non-existent iPhone. They all assume everyone has 'em because they're well off ex-Republicans who want the Dem Party to be just what the Repub Party was 30 yrs ago. And they're getting it!
I was reading this comment from a Hillary supporter who said something to the effect of "before I retired, when I was a corporate lawyer...." Why bother reading after that, right? And they were seriously arguing that $250,000 a year can be called middle class because in 3 cities you'd just be very comfortable and not necessarily rich.
I considered posting. Why not? (I thought) They didn't ban me because I just said "it's not fun anymore". I suppose the powers that be wanted me to yell so I could be mocked. Anyway, I considered posting but luckily my smarter self won out. You know the play "Rhinoceros". Well that's happening. First it's markos the gate crasher. Then it's all the front pagers. Turkana...how sad. When Hillary wins the nomination and Bernie gives his rip-roaring speech in support of her, telling us all we need to vote for her, it'll be 90% of the Hillary haters going "yeah, we gotta".
Hey, this OT should be up tomorrow but here it is. I guess that's what happens when one hits the "save" button.
I was perfectly happy
with my old fashioned flip phone, but my husband insisted I upgrade to an android so he can text me. I hate texting with a passion. But I am stuck with this phone.

iPhones seem to be a great thing for blind people tho
http://behindthecurtain.us/2010/06/12/my-first-week-with-the-iphone/
My blind friend in Philadelphia and my Dutch blind friend both have one. (Both also switched to Mac after many many years with Windows XP and the expensive add-on screen reader software called JAWS — with Apple, a screen reader is built in.)
Happy New Year everyone from Amsterdam !!
Ya, I'm not "boycotting" Iphones per se,
just don't want or need one. I do have a pay as you go phone that I'll activate if I need it. Since you can't find phone booths anymore, got to have something on the road, etc.
My son is deaf and an Iphone is pretty valuable to his well being. The deaf community started with those Sidekicks, remember those?

Totally agree Tim,
can't stand that "Papa" John, he's just another conservative asshole. There's another thing I boycott, Papa Johns pizza. Now he has JJ Watt standing next to him.
All the best to you and yours man.
Good to see you around
Is it any wonder that a dude who values winning over playing by the rules would support Trump?

wait:
the Reality of the diary text has changed, and so now my comment above is totally unmoored from it. Know that there once was a connection, and one that made sense. Sorta. Really. : /
Meanwhile, the Americans think it makes sense for the government to spy on their tubes without a warrant.
Some 56% of the Americans want the government to be able to look in the tubes without the bother of a warrant. Both Republican (67%) and Democratic (55%) Americans support this. And 54% say "it's sometimes necessary for the government to sacrifice freedoms to fight terrorism."
Terrorism makes the Americans have a Fear and a Sad. About 60% of them think a ter'rist might Get them or someone in their family.
64% of the Americans say they would fight off the terrorists with Big Guns, while 49% would hide under the bed. 57% believe if a terrorist came, it would be the fault of the Kenyan. 48% believe The Hairball could defeat the terrorists by strangling them with his hair, while 41% believe if The Mad Bomber cackled at a terrorist, the terrorist would fall down.
Shifting reality can be challenging

The best way to fight terrorism
is not to be a terrorist nation ourselves.

Word up.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
before the big crash, the internet will be destroyed,
people have to learn again to live in the real world and not in the digital spaces, where we all live right now. It's an utter bullshit living. We know we are manipulated, but can't find the reality anymore. The more you can cut yourself off from the digital world, the better, imo.
Lately I thought, if it would be possible to sue the heck out of all the enterprises, who decide to play constant noises of all sorts everywhere. You are basically noise drowned and polluted for manipulative purposes. Why are we accepting that?
I mean I can cut myself off the internet, but I can't cut myself out of the noise pollution that is constantly dumped on my ears? I have no access to the switch to turn it out. We are also image polluted. Just watch how many image fillers between any real news stories are dumped on your eyes. Very bad cut imagery. Loud, brutal and annoying.
We have to boycott certain scientific and technological developments. It's not cool what they do. We don't need to explore space. We didn't need to go to the moon, nor do we have to explore mars. We don't need a space station. It's all self-aggrandizing bull shit. So far, very few start to question scientific research, most people are still trying to convince those, who live with the bible instead of science in their heads, to accept scientific facts. Somewhere along the lines they got lost and didn't get it. If they would discover a way to negate radioactive radiation, may be I would accept that as useful research. But I bet you they don't know how to do that. So we live with Mr. Einsteins and his gang's inventions and suffer from it til we might just destroy the planet with it. So, where is that smart ?
Oh well, I am tired, a lot of research done these days is utter bullshit. Nobody says a word. We need to save the scientists' jobs, of course, and our soldiers need jobs, and our engineers need jobs, I know. So we give them the same jobs that continue the utter bullshit wars and weapon productions and let them invent and produce one idiot gimmick piece of nothingness to make our life "easier", "more efficient", "more fun". Good luck with that.
Ok, bedtime. Good night.

It is well beyond mere noise and image pollution.
We suffer from incessant aesthetic pollution, and are bombarded throughout our waking hours with every concievable form of ugly, attacking every sense.

I do not hate technology. It is what we do with it. Like everything in life, there are plusses and minuses. Learning to use it for positive purposes has enhanced my own life.

Thanks for 'uplifting' OT, Shaz. ;-) Actually, your
assessment of the current state of affairs in the good ole USA, is pretty much spot on.
*Sigh*
Hey, when it's this bad, there's no where to go but up--right?
We're getting on the road in a little more than an hour. Keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be avoid flash floods, etc. Could be worse, since I just heard that they are sandbagging Interstate 44 in Missouri (and thankfully, we're not heading that way).
Have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve!

Good Morning and Happy New Year....
I was up really early this morning. It is 7:15, and I already feel like I need to take a nap. Rough night.
Here is good news. Has Stanford University found a cure for Alzheimer's disease?
A drug which boosts the brain's immune response could prevent or cure Alzheimer's disease Such a vicious disease. In the study, they are "restoring" memory in rats. What a gift to humankind it would be.
I got into quite a bit of trouble in a dk Hillary diary extolling her crappy 6K tax credit to help pay for caregivers. 6K is barely enough to pay for the freaking Depends. How could I be so ungrateful? The Hillary people over at dkos are a particularly obnoxious lot. There is a vigilante troll seeking revenge. I am often amazed at how little life some people must have.

Having lost my father to Alzheimer's
this year after nearly 12 years of suffering from this horrible disease. I would not wish this disease on anyone. Six thousand a year is a drop in the bucket for care giving and finding decent care giving is very very difficult. We were fortunate that my mother got my father into a small, privately owned nursing home in which the owners lived on the premises and the wife was an RN. The staffing was excellent and there was no turnover. Large corporate owned facilities are abominable. They pay their staff nothing and are understaffed with very high turnover. And they are expensive.

... and they drug their clients
It is clockwork. Everybody gets drugged during the evening, so they can put them to bed and have a skeleton staff over night.

The entertainment complex is crap. It's a way to distract the masses and influence thought / reality patterns. Have you ever noticed how the video games are mostly armageddon end times dystopia themed shoot em up.
I can tell you what I know about reality. Be wary of the pious, the wealthy, the violent, the domineering and condescending people. Don't mess with electricity, chemicals, moving machinery or wild animals. Pace is important, don't let people rush you, but move quickly enough to keep from getting snuck up on. Be kind and helpful. Party on.

That is some good sound advice for the coming new year . Happy New Year to all you 99%'ers.
Sorry everyone for posting such a negative OT. I hit save instead of save and continue and went downstairs to cook something and it posted my unedited bummer. I was going to post some really depressing tunes so at least you all we're spared from having to bypass them. I think my bleak outlook is from messing about over at dkos for the last week . I don't know why got sucked into the inky pool as I had pretty much stayed away for months. I do like ready many of the Bernie diarists and commenters and it's kind of fascinating to observe the imploding Democratic party royalists in their native habitat. It is a rigged violent dangerous computer game at that. Dkos's brand of politics is not really healthy for your body mind or spirit. It gives me a tainted perception about life and my fellow humans. Hope these tunes cheer you up?
Ain't a gonna study war no more...
Don't mess with Mr.Inbetween
Could you please make that crepe?

Good afternoon Shaz and folks...

Happy New Year everybody!!
Gotta admit
I cannot remember the last time I saw the new year come in. I am not a night person, so come 9:30 or so, I am all nestled and snuggled in my bed.

it's
already next year in much of the world, and here you are, wide awake: so, you saw it come in, after all. ; )
Yep, got New Year's wishes from South African friends already.
But same here, as often as not, don't make it til midnight.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
Good read...
Ditto to finding a cure...Mom's holding on, bless her.
Me, I'm discombobulated more than usual; having spent many a time between a rock and a hard place in mostly non-profit enterprises starving for money, I should be more immune to financial consequences than I am.
I write to share a little of a moving phone call I just received: an acquaintance from fishing in the state of Tennessee called and offered his and his fishing buddies assistance with finding a place for me to stay for treatments, saying "you helped us once and we would like to help you now."
Brought tears to my eyes.
Often, I wish for more articulation, to be better at writing, to understand more; to ramble less.
Friendship is about the only thing that bridges the gulf of understanding for me. As I've yet to figure out why we are here; to get better for reincarnation making the most sense.
Thanks for this OT and Happy New Years to All.
Thanks Friend

Wishing you all no tears in heaven - May the New Year
bring what it may.
I had a little bit of sad email exchange with my brother. He told me he is afraid that we will not meet in heaven, because ... I am not a believer (of his kind). He is lost to his environment and family since the early nineties. It is painful to have witnessed his mind and heart changing during his life.
So, when I browsed a little bit for music, I stumbled into Eric Clapton's "No tears in heaven" and the lyrics meant something very different to me today than it would have otherwise.

I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven ... and so must you.
Wishing all the Bluesters and DFH and lovely souls around here peace, health and happiness in the New Year.
